Book Synopsis Business Analytics with Management Science Models and Methods by : Arben Asllani
Download or read book Business Analytics with Management Science Models and Methods written by Arben Asllani and published by Pearson Education. This book was released on 2015 with total page 401 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about prescriptive analytics. It provides business practitioners and students with a selected set of management science and optimization techniques and discusses the fundamental concepts, methods, and models needed to understand and implement these techniques in the era of Big Data. A large number of management science models exist in the body of literature today. These models include optimization techniques or heuristics, static or dynamic programming, and deterministic or stochastic modeling. The topics selected in this book, mathematical programming and simulation modeling, are believed to be among the most popular management science tools, as they can be used to solve a majority of business optimization problems. Over the years, these techniques have become the weapon of choice for decision makers and practitioners when dealing with complex business systems.

Book Synopsis Models & Methods for Project Selection by : Samuel B. Graves
Download or read book Models & Methods for Project Selection written by Samuel B. Graves and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 203 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Models & Methods for Project Selection systematically examines in this book treatment the latest work in the field of project selection modeling. The models presented are drawn from mathematical programming, decision theory, and finance. These models are examined in two categorical streams: the management science stream and the financial model stream. The book describes the assumptions and limitations of each model and provides appropriate solution methodologies. Its organization follows three main themes: *Criteria for Choice: Chapters 1-3 investigate the effect of the choice of optimization criteria on the results of the portfolio optimization problem. *Risk and Uncertainty: Chapters 4-7 deal with uncertainty in the project selection problem. *Non-Linearity and Interdependence: These chapters deal with problems of non-linearity and interdependence as they arise in the project selection problem. Chapters 8, 9 and 10 present solution methodologies, which can be used to solve these most general project selection models.

Book Synopsis Systems and Decision Making by : Hans G. Daellenbach
Download or read book Systems and Decision Making written by Hans G. Daellenbach and published by . This book was released on 1994-10-11 with total page 570 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Systems and Decision Making A Management Science Approach Hans G Daellenbach University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand Traditional methods of problem solving, based on the cause-and-effect model, can no longer cope with the complex situations in which decisions have to be made today. These problem situations occur within a systems context. Most of these systems are created and controlled by humans and it is, therefore, important that decision making is guided by a systematic and comprehensive methodology that helps the decision maker to make effective use of his/her extensive but limited powers of reasoning. Systems and Decision Making combines contemporary systems work with Operations Research (OR). Daellenbach places an emphasis on developing a methodology for decision situations that lend themselves to quantitative approaches rather than give an elementary survey of many OR/MS techniques. It incorporates some of the learnings of soft systems methodology for more practical problem solving, particularly at the problem identification and formulation stages. The text also shows that the scientific component of modelling can be considerably enhanced by the use of various diagrammatic devices. The second part of the book studies a number of topics important for the analyst, such as how to deal with the time element, with constraints, with uncertainty, and with multiple goals. These are demonstrated by various OR/MS techniques. Systems and Decision Making is an excellent core text for undergraduate and graduate students of systems, management science and MBA courses.

Book Synopsis Model Management and Analytics for Large Scale Systems by : Bedir Tekinerdogan
Download or read book Model Management and Analytics for Large Scale Systems written by Bedir Tekinerdogan and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2019-09-14 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Model Management and Analytics for Large Scale Systems covers the use of models and related artefacts (such as metamodels and model transformations) as central elements for tackling the complexity of building systems and managing data. With their increased use across diverse settings, the complexity, size, multiplicity and variety of those artefacts has increased. Originally developed for software engineering, these approaches can now be used to simplify the analytics of large-scale models and automate complex data analysis processes. Those in the field of data science will gain novel insights on the topic of model analytics that go beyond both model-based development and data analytics. This book is aimed at both researchers and practitioners who are interested in model-based development and the analytics of large-scale models, ranging from big data management and analytics, to enterprise domains. The book could also be used in graduate courses on model development, data analytics and data management. Identifies key problems and offers solution approaches and tools that have been developed or are necessary for model management and analytics Explores basic theory and background, current research topics, related challenges and the research directions for model management and analytics Provides a complete overview of model management and analytics frameworks, the different types of analytics (descriptive, diagnostics, predictive and prescriptive), the required modelling and method steps, and important future directions
