Book Synopsis New Clues for Analysing the HRM Black Box by : Alvaro López-Cabrales
Download or read book New Clues for Analysing the HRM Black Box written by Alvaro López-Cabrales and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2015-09-04 with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book serves to illustrate the difficulty in explaining the role of human resources and the complexities implicit in the management of people working together in various kinds of organisations, and, more specifically, the existing links between the management of human capital and the functioning of the organisation. Several chapters provide an accurate picture of topics and issues that are relevant today in the area of human resource management, by bringing together different approaches and levels of analysis that undoubtedly enrich one another. The opening chapters are theoretical reviews and approaches of differing degrees of abstraction that explain the connections between human resources management and the performance of the organization, including such topics as the importance of correctly implementing the processes of human resources management, and the role that the Human Resources Department can play in this; the importance of these management practices being interiorised and embedded in the whole organisation; and the debate on the effects that management systems based on both control and commitment have on the behaviours of individuals. Delving into the relationship between human resources management and organisational performance, the second part of the book investigates the effect that social networks and work groups have on an organisation’s results; the effect of job satisfaction on the differences and disagreements between an organisation and employee with respect to the behaviours expected; and finally the measurement of happiness at work with regards to three dimensions: engagement, job satisfaction and affective organisational commitment. These eight chapters were considered the best papers presented at the 9th International Workshop on Human Resources Management, held on October 30th–31st, 2014, at Pablo de Olavide University, Seville, Spain.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Corporate social responsibility (CSR), and particularly environmental management, has now become a global social norm. As the largest developing economy in the world, China is currently a major environmental polluter. This book examines how Chinese enterprises, including both indigenous firms and foreign-owned organizations operating in China, utilize human resource management (HRM) to conduct environmental management, i.e. green HRM, also referred to as environmentally friendly HRM. Green HRM integrates HRM with environmental management and is implemented by firms to realize corporate green strategies by providing opportunities and motivating employees to become involved in environmental activities. This book explores how green recruitment and selection, green training, green performance management, and green pay and rewards are managed in Chinese enterprises, and how green HRM affects organizational green and non-green workplace behaviors. It enriches the current literature on green HRM practices and measures. It also advances our understanding of employee organizational behavioral consequences of green HRM, which is an emerging and understudied field of research. As such, this book offers practical implications on how to elicit desirable employee green and non-green workplace behaviors through green HRM policies and practices. This book will appeal to anyone interested in learning more about green HRM practices and the social and psychological processes through which green HRM influences employees, promotes green workplace behaviors and improves a firm's environmental performance.

Book Synopsis The impact of organizational change on HR management practices and company performance by : Nadiia Kudriashova
Download or read book The impact of organizational change on HR management practices and company performance written by Nadiia Kudriashova and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2019-10-28 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Research Paper (undergraduate) from the year 2017 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, grade: MA, Oregon State University, language: English, abstract: In recent years, the global economy is undergoing profound structural changes. Globalization, the constant change of inter-sectoral boundaries and even their disappearance, the intensive change of technology, the promotion of knowledge in the first place among the driving forces of competition, the emergence of new organizational forms, mass mergers and acquisitions are forcing modern organizations to constantly change. Changes are becoming a key element of modern theories of organization and strategic management. As part of the resource approach to the organization, one of the key competitive advantages of a company is the presence of its dynamic abilities - the ability to realize the need to change, and then to reconfigure internal and external competences to use the opportunities created by the rapidly changing environment. Thus, modern scientists believe that the ability to change on time and in the right way becomes one of the determining factors for the survival and success of any organization. Changes constitute the meaning of modern organizations activity. In a constantly changing environment, their development is not only a result of natural evolution but also the result of a focused effort by management and personnel service. One of the forms of development of an organization is represented by organizational changes, which, in turn, predetermine changes in the content of management activities: it is less focused on administration and more on changes. The conditions of organizational change require "creative management" that promotes the generation of new knowledge, ideas, and their natural perception by managers at all levels and staff. In line with this, organizational changes are becoming one of the most significant factors in improving the management of an economic entity, which necessitates modernizing approaches to human resource management and giving new status to HR services. At the same time, organizational changes not only provide for meeting existing needs but also create new needs for employees and enterprises.

A comprehensive introduction to HRM for students who are new to the field, but who will be seeking employment in a global market, working with diverse colleagues and across international borders. Broken down into three parts covering Strategic Issues in HRM, HRM in Practice and HRM in Context, and weaving international and cross-cultural perspectives throughout, the text explores the ever-changing world of human resource management. The various theories, practices and debates that populate this field are examined, and the challenges and controversies that arise when theory meets practice are explored. The international dimension in all its aspects including cross-cultural working, diversity, equality and international business have been considered throughout. Practical learning features have been included to help students develop skills they can apply to their course and in graduate employment. In the new edition, the authors have further explored the international context for HRM, not just for multinational corporations but also for small businesses and not-for-profit organizations, with added analysis on the importance of recognizing that effective functioning of organizations is not simply measured by financial performance, but also by taking into account the broader social, economic and political contexts. International case studies covering emerging economies and specific ethical issues are included with each chapter containing two case studies - one short case mid-chapter and a longer end-of-chapter case, each of which has a set of accompanying questions for students to explore individually or in groups to broaden their learning. The book is supported by a SAGE Edge site, featuring a range of tools and resources for lecturers and students, including SAGE journal articles, PowerPoint slides, web and video links, interactive multiple choice questions, chapter specific podcasts and an instructor’s manual. Suitable for undergraduates and post-graduate students looking for a strategic and international perspective of HRM.
