Book excerpt: In 1997, a satellite engineer fearing for his life hid a floppy disk containing three incriminating photos in an access door of a GPS satellite in order to put the photos "out of reach." In 2021, private space contractors are hired to remove 2,600 obsolete, useless satellites from earth's orbit. The satellite, a.k.a. Maggie 316, is mysteriously recovered instead of being incinerated. Four strangers become a formidable team to solve the mystery of the three photos and to discover who had been willing to murder in order to keep the photos secret. As the story unfolds the reader is subtly a witness to the triumph of courage, the power of friendship, and the growth of real love in the midst of tension and uncertainty.

Volume 2 of this series covers alphabetically cemeteries E through G, beginning with the East Battleground Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery and concluding with the Garden City Cemetery. It also includes the large Cullman City Cemetery. The volumes are filled with photos of many of the old cemetery sites and notes describing the company and unit of most of the old Civil War era veterans. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Approximately three fifths of the emigration from the United Kingdom to America arrived in the 19th century. The remainder came through Ellis Island between 1900 and 1924. Arrivals from the U.K. began to increase in the mid-1840's with the Irish Famine that led to very high mortality rates, rising prices and unemployment and a massive outflow of Irish population to the U.S. In the post-Famine period, England's industrial revolution progressed and emigration continued to grow between the prosperous 1850's and the mid-1890's. This series on Emigration from the United Kingdom to America concentrates on U.K. emigration in the period 1870-1897, listing migrants from the U.K. who arrived in New York. The original passenger lists transcribed by shipping agents and ship's officers and filed by all vessels entering U.S ports have been used in the preparation of Emigration from the United Kingdom to America. Presented in chronological order by each ship's date of arrival, these passenger lists provide the names of ships, ports of departure, and arrival and debarkation dates. The researcher can also locate data regarding a person's age, sex, and occupation, as well as village of origin and destination when reported. An important feature of Emigration from the United Kingdom to America is the extensive surname index of ships' passengers included in each volume. These indexes, containing approximately 3 million names for the period 1870-1897, will greatly facilitate the task of finding an ancestor's family name, especially when the exact date or port of arrival in the United States is unknown. In addition to the passenger lists and name indexes, Emigration from the United Kingdom to America includes an introduction to the history of the U.K. migratory movement to the U.S. This series is an invaluable reference work for anyone interested in studying family history or in genealogical research.

Book excerpt: The Routledge Companion to Gender and Sexuality in Comic Book Studies is a comprehensive, global, and interdisciplinary examination of the essential relationship between Gender, Sexuality, Comics, and Graphic Novels. A diverse range of international and interdisciplinary scholars take a closer look at how gender and sexuality have been essential in the evolution of comics, and how gender and sexuality in comics demand that we re-frame and re-view comics history. Chapters cover a wide array of intersectional topics including Queer Underground and Alternative comics, Feminist Autobiography, re-drawing disability, Latina testimony, and re-evaluating the critical whiteness and masculinity of superheroes in this first truly global reference text to gender and sexuality in comics. Comics have always been an important place for the radical exploration of feminist and non-binary sexualities and identities, and the growth of non-normative comic book traditions as a field of inquiry makes this an essential text for upper-level undergraduates, postgraduates, and researchers studying Comics Studies, Women’s and Gender Studies, Literary Studies, and Cultural Studies.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The world has changed immeasurably since 2020 and this book, written before anyone had ever heard of Covid-19, places the ‘pandemic’ into its true context. Many of the changes in society since 2020 were predicted in this book which explains the real reason for those transformations of society. The book also features an examination of the takeover, infiltration and realignment of the alternative media with mainstream perspectives and perceptions. Paper View: In Print places current events into a completely new context. People find the world and daily events so difficult to understand because they lack the necessary knowledge. Paper View: In Print provides the information to read the world like an open book. The world is run by a cult with global reach and power with a nightmare agenda for humanity. Never before has their agenda been described so concisely, clearly and comprehensively between the covers of one book … until now. Paper View: In Print is a book you will be referring back to many times when seeing current events unfold and society changing around you. Over 660 pages, Daniel Ford provides an invaluable guide to the world and current events. You’ve heard the podcast, now read the book. If you’ve ever wanted Paper View in paper form, then this is the book for you. This is Paper View in print, but it’s so much more. Paper View Extra, you might call it. An enormous amount of new information not in the original podcast episodes is in this book. The book covers a wide range of subjects encompassing the entire spectrum of society, and explains clearly and simply the connections, placing news stories, world events and changes in society in their true context. One of the most controversial and explosive books published in 2020, the book doesn’t hold back and speaks out on the truth behind them. This book could not have been published at a more important time. People have a nagging sense of unease and face constant confusion amidst many questions about the world and society. Paper View: In Print was written to provide the answers, and it does so in an accessible way which connects the dots to form the picture. The book also features various illustrations. Daniel Ford has spent the last 17 years uncovering the answers and investigating official explanations from authority, whose simplistic replies only seem to lead to more questions, not answers, and in this book, he presents a life’s work in dot-connecting to show the true context of our everyday lives. This book is highly recommended for parents, as the book covers every example of how children and young people today are the most targeted age group and generations in human history, including mental health, technology and social media, gender, education/school system among many other subjects.

The popularity of this body of literature has grown in recent years, and it has also diversified in terms of the types of stories being told—and persons telling them. In the past, readers' advisors have depended on access by names or Dewey classifications and subjects to help readers find autobiographies they will enjoy. This guide offers an alternative, organizing the literature according to popular genres, subgenres, and themes that reflect common reading interests. Describing titles that range from travel and adventure classics and celebrity autobiographies to foodie memoirs and environmental reads, Life Stories: A Guide to Reading Interests in Memoirs, Autobiographies, and Diaries presents a unique overview of the genre that specifically addresses the needs of readers' advisors and others who work with readers in finding books.
