The abundance of this mite and the incidence of erinose caused by it are greatest during the period of flush growth in the lychee. The mite can be effectively controlled by applying wettable sulfur at a rate of 5 pounds oer 100 gallons of water at the time of the emergence of new growth. After the initial treatment, two or three additional treatments at monthly intervals may be necessary for effective control.
