The following words have become absolute reality: "I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth is come, he will guide you into all truth." (John 16, 12-13). This book of my teachings has been formed from the lessons of love and charity and dictated to you through human understanding. Since ancient times I have entrusted to you my teachings, through my envoys, my emissaries, my interpreters, and you have used it to create myths and traditions. But you will not fulfill your purpose unless you meditate and study this lesson with respect and love. Truly I say to you that he who meditates and analyzes the teachings of my Book, with a true desire to elevate his knowledge, will acquire the light for his spirit and he will feel Me nearer to him.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most evangelical Christians believe that those people who are not saved before they die will be punished in hell forever. But is this what the Bible truly teaches? Do Christians need to rethink their understanding of hell? In the late twentieth century, a growing number of evangelical theologians, biblical scholars, and philosophers began to reject the traditional doctrine of eternal conscious torment in hell in favor of a minority theological perspective called conditional immortality. This view contends that the unsaved are resurrected to face divine judgment, just as Christians have always believed, but due to the fact that immortality is only given to those who are in Christ, the unsaved do not exist forever in hell. Instead, they face the punishment of the "second death"--an end to their conscious existence. This volume brings together excerpts from a variety of well-respected evangelical thinkers, including John Stott, John Wenham, and E. Earl Ellis, as they articulate the biblical, theological, and philosophical arguments for conditionalism. These readings will give thoughtful Christians strong evidence that there are indeed compelling reasons for rethinking hell.

Book excerpt: Stories in the Books of Genesis and Exodus tell of fathers whose sons are 'lost' to them through 'deaths' of various kinds. One is murdered. Another is abandoned. A third is supplanted. A fourth is betrayed. A fifth is taken for sacrifice. A sixth is forgotten about. A seventh is secreted away. Only one of these is lost through physical death; the others 'die' symbolically. But in their different ways all these sons are lost to their fathers, some for a time, some forever. And all of them develop the theme with which the biblical narrative begins: God's first son Adam who, by becoming 'lost' to his Creator, sets in train God's long search for humanity . . . The book culminates with a chapter on Jesus: God's son lost and found.

Book excerpt: This collection, first published in 1992, offers critical-interpretive essays on various aspects of the work of Joseph Campbell (1904-1987), one of a very few international experts on myth. Joseph Campbell examines myths and mythologies from a comparative point of view, and he stresses those similarities among myths the world over as they suggest an existing, transcendent unity of all humankind. His interpretations foster an openness, even a generous appreciation of, all myths; and he attempts to generate a broad, sympathetic understanding of the role of these 'stories' in human history, in our present-day lives, and in the possibilities of our future.

Book excerpt: "In this book, Evgenia Cherkasova brings the philosopher Kant and the novelist Dostoevsky together in conversations that probe why duty is central to our moral life. She shows that just as Dostoevsky is indebted to Kant, so Kant would profit from the deeply philosophical narratives of Dostoevsky, which engage the problem of evil and the claims of human community. She not only produces a novel reading of Dostoevsky, but also guides us to later, often neglected Kantian texts. This study is written with scholarly care, penetrating analysis, elegance of style, and moral urgency: Cherkasova writes with both mind and heart." Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Whether by the universal script of the Bible or by personal anecdotes, God shares His commonality of faith and experience. He is the same throughout time to all, even personally. The only flaw is sometimes our script of writing style is inadequate to universal dimensions. The writing here means to be experiential and universal by lovingly implication. By the lines of the woundedness we have that we surrender to Him, He teaches us healing depending on our affliction. The lines of woundedness are across our heart and soul. It comes down to a deeper surrender and touch. He suffered failings at college and work. Finally, he turned to God. He went from his episcopal church to the assemblies of God. There he became honest and felt the healing of a whole spirit. After the sinner's prayer and a second baptism, he felt whole. At the water baptism, he was totally immersed and made a quick prayer before the dunking, "to be in the center of God's will for him." He wanted to speak in tongues so he joined a Life in the Spirit Seminar and received tongues, speaking, and discernment. He became a charismatic Catholic and joined a charismatic Catholic church, Bread of Life. He recorded his discernments in the quiet of his home. In writing, he was expressing the language of the Kingdom of God. His parents grew older, and he cared for them in their elder ages, nineteen years. It was a privilege and an act of love. At that time, his charismatic prayer group, Light in the World, folded. Later, at a nursing home, he was encouraged to publish. He still writes.

Book excerpt: About the Theology Journal This present publication comprises Volume 2 No. 1 of Semănătorul (The Sower): The Emanuel Journal of Ministry and Biblical Research. It incorporates the Proceedings of the Bi-Annual International Theological Conferences of the Department of Theology held in Emanuel University, Oradea, April and November 2017. The titles of the Conference were: “The Theology of the Cross,” and, “The Doctrine of Justification and Related Themes.” The papers presented here include those given in person by various colleagues of the Emanuel Faculty; others via a Skype call or by invitation. The International Conferences held by the Department of Theology were made possible through the commitment of members of the Emanuel faculty, the collaboration of Emanuel University Press, the Emanuel “Ethics and Society” Research Centre, and the contribution of distinguished colleagues from the Hungarian Baptist Academy, Budapest, The Irish Baptist College, UK and the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas. The Journal includes a range of papers on the death of Christ and the truth of justification by faith. The Christ hymn (Phil 2:5–11) is here, as is the focus upon the invitation in John 6 to “eat the flesh of the Son of God” and to “drink his blood.” Also the whole theology of the cross in the Fourth Gospel is considered. Again the concept of redemption in all the Gospels is discussed, as is a paper on the Holy Spirit and the death of Christ from a Pauline perspective. The theme of the cross in the sermons of Philip Doddridge is highlighted, plus two articles on Luther’s doctrine of justification and the treatment of this theme by the Reformer in the Epistle of James. These articles include a range of affirmations on crucial doctrines and theological themes which must not be lost or neglected. One remembers the exhortation of 2 Tim 2:1–2 to hold to truths that are fundamental and to entrust them “to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” Hamilton Moore, Editor.
