Irshad addresses all people, Muslim and non-Muslim alike, in this universal message about the importance of independent thought and internal strength, of love, liberty, free speech, and the pursuit of happiness. Book excerpt: Liberty Long knew her troubles were going to bite her on the butt one day. She just didn't expect the outcome to be surprisingly good. If it wasn't for the help of her best friend, her boyfriend, and her boss, she would be sitting next to Satan himself laughing at how stupid she'd been. Damien Lewis knew Liberty, his sister's best friend, came with drama and a little bit of crazy. What he didn't expect was his reaction when he caught Liberty kissing her boss. Then again, he thought his sister was weird for having two boyfriends, so maybe it was just rubbing off on him. Liam Michaels knew Liberty, his opinionated employee, was trouble the moment she walked into his office and his body reacted to her. Two years of keeping their relationship professional, he didn't expect to meet her boyfriend and wonder what it would be like to share Liberty with Damien. Will Damien be willing to explore the possibility of more? Then again, anything can happen when it comes down to the love of Liberty.
Book Synopsis Women and Liberty, 1600-1800 by : Jacqueline Broad
Download or read book Women and Liberty, 1600-1800 written by Jacqueline Broad and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2017-12-01 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There have been many different historical-intellectual accounts of the shaping and development of concepts of liberty in pre-Enlightenment Europe. This volume is unique for addressing the subject of liberty principally as it is discussed in the writings of women philosophers, and as it is theorized with respect to women and their lives, during this period. The volume covers ethical, political, metaphysical, and religious notions of liberty, with some chapters discussing women's ideas about the metaphysics of free will, and others examining the topic of women's freedom (or lack thereof) in their moral and personal lives as well as in the public socio-political domain. In some cases, these topics are situated in relation to the emergence of the concept of autonomy in the late eighteenth century, and in others, with respect to recent feminist theorizing about relational autonomy and internalized oppression. Many of the chapters draw upon a wide range of genres, including polemical texts, poetry, plays, and other forms of fiction, as well as standard philosophical treatises. Taken as a whole, this volume shows how crucial it is to recover the too-long forgotten views of female and women-friendly male philosophers of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. In the process of recovering these voices, our understanding of philosophy in the early modern period is not only expanded, but also significantly enhanced, toward a more accurate and gender-inclusive history of our discipline.

Download or read book Marvell and Liberty written by Martin Dzelzainis and published by Springer. This book was released on 1999-07-09 with total page 387 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Marvell and Liberty is a collection of original essays by leading scholars which treats this major poet in an entirely new light. Uniquely, it gives equal attention to the full range of Marvell's writings. Marvell is a writer deeply implicated in the history of his time, and as the essays in this volume show, also exercised a potent political influence after his death. Marvell and Liberty constitutes a major reassessment of a figure who lived much of his life close to the epicentre of the revolutionary upheavals of the seventeenth century.
