Book excerpt: This, my book, LOFDOC THE STORYTELLER, is different than most tomes that you may have encountered. It is different, because it is a veritable smrgsbord of juicy subjects that I had encountered over the past 92 years of life on this planet; and I feel comfortable, and privileged to share these many stories with you. Over the past many years, I have encountered many situations, that have made me laugh, and some that made me cry - I have reflected those emotions in, a wholesome manner, in my stories, that will allow, you the reader, a few moments, to share those treasured moments of the past with me. We will relive my 67th wedding anniversaries' happiness when we read THE FOREVER DAY; we will re-experience my early year's frustrations when learning to water-ski, and sadly, we will cry when we learn about the trials and tribulations of Alzheimer's disease.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gregg Bonelli, born with an inquisitive mind and competitive nature, has had the desire to go fast since 1964, when he discovered his true self through racing motorcycles. In this colorful and creative tribute to his love of motorcycling and racing, Bonelli shares insights into life and death from the seat of a racing motorcycle that vividly celebrate the lifestyle he has embraced for fifty years. Bonelli offers a fascinating glimpse into the thought processes and life of a motorcycle racer, as he made lasting friendships, raced at speeds most would think insane, and met eclectic characters along the way. With his mind constantly on motorcycles and the next race, Bonelli details how the rest of his life seemed only incidental to his obsession with going fast. Whether racing on a 250 Harley Sprint or a TZ750 Yamaha, Bonelli shares anecdotes, poetry, and prose that illuminate the pure joy of what it is like to count down the minutes until he can zip his leathers, hop in his van with his bike in the back, and head out to race again. Zen and the Art of Racing Motorcycles shares a seasoned motorcycle racers perspective on why he loves to ride with the wind with the throttle wide open and nothing but excitement and the possibility of a win before him.

Book excerpt: 'The unmistakable voice of Moto GP' - Valentino Rossi As 'The Voice' of motorcycle racing for forty years, commentator Nick Harris became the biggest star not on two wheels in the paddock, and this is his mostly eye-witness, white-knuckle account of MotoGP's scorching seventy-year history. The story starts on the Isle of Man in 1949, when Geoff Duke, with his slicked-back hair and one-piece black leathers, became the nation's hero, defying the odds and winning the most dangerous race in the world on a British-built Norton. Just over a decade later at Mallory Park, another British champion and one of the greatest riders of all time Mike Hailwood screamed past a young Nick Harris on his 250cc Honda, and a life-long passion was born. Harris has been at the centre of the sport for decades, getting to know the riders as individuals, seeings feuds unfold, champions made, careers and sometimes lives ended. We'll see the biggest podium stars up close, from Barry Sheene and Kenny Roberts to Valentino Rossi, and we'll meet the mechanics behind them, the manufacturers who poured millions into the teams, and the organisers who, in the early days, ruthlessly compromised rider safety for profits. The drama has often been as tense off the track as on it. This is the book the motorcycling world has been waiting for.

Book excerpt: In sixth grade, every child was musically tested to try to grow the marching bands in high school. I wanted to play a saxophone. The band directors wanted me to carry a tuba (since I was one of the bigger children). I compromised (to myself) and got a friend in junior high to teach me to play drums whereupon my parents fretted that I would do drugs. I surprised them by playing in rock and roll bands for about seven years. My first big project as a structural engineer was the inner dome to Space Mountain for the Buena Vista Corporation in a place called Kissimmee, Florida. As a project engineer, I learned to coordinate designs for constructors to build. My dad thought I would be an architect since I liked to draw. (In my hometown's phone directory, there were two pages of architects but only a third of a page of civil-structural engineers. Easy decision.) I have enjoyed stories from firemen I have associated with. They can be very humorous. I have enjoyed Justin Wilson's stories and Jerry Clower's funny wit. God bless them. I wish they were still alive so I could autograph my book for them like they did for me. Not that this is on their level, but I try to present my life stories to entertain and just make the reader feel good, have some memories, and smile.
