There he worked with him at Sporting Clube de Portugal and Porto in Portugal, before following him to Spanish club Barcelona. He remained in the Catalonian club after Robson's departure and worked with the successor, Louis van Gaal. He began focusing on coaching and impressed with brief but successful managerial periods at Benfica and Uniao de Leiria. He returned to Porto in 2002, this time as head coach, winning the Primeira Liga, Taca de Portugal, and UEFA Cup in 2003. In 2004 Mourinho guided the team to the top of the league for a second time and won the highest honour in European club football, the UEFA Champions League. Excerpt: The 2011 12 UEFA Women's Champions League was the eleventh edition of the European women's championship for football clubs. The final was held in the Olympiastadion in Munich, Germany on 17 May 2012. As in the past two Champions League seasons, the eight highest ranked nations got two entries to the tournament. The point of entry was changed this season however. In the previous years the national runner-ups had to enter the qualification round. With those teams always easing through their groups, with the exception of Umea in 2010-11, UEFA decided to give those a direct entry to the round of 32. As a result, eight nations which under previous rules would have had direct entry to that round now had to go through the qualifying stage. A total of 54 teams from 46 UEFA associations were confirmed to be entering this years competition by UEFA on 15 June 2011. This is a new record for the Women's Champions league, as Albania and Latvia are represented for the first time, and the winners of the Luxembourg league entered for the first time since 2001-02. In total 11 teams got their European debut. Countries are allocated places according to their 2010 UEFA league coefficient for women, taking into account performances in women's club competitions between 2005-06 and 2009-10. Associations...

Book excerpt: From the post room to the board room, everyone thinks they can be the manager. But how do you manage outrageous talent? What do you do to inspire loyalty from your players? How do you turn around a team in crisis? What's the best way to build long-term success? How can you lead calmly under pressure? The issues are the same whether you're managing a Premier League football team or a FTSE 100 company. Here, for the first time, some 30 of the biggest names in football management reveal just what it takes. Book excerpt: In December 1989, United fanatic Pete Molyneux raised a banner calling for Alex Ferguson's head, sparking the most famous protest in Old Trafford's 103 years. For manager and supporter alike it was their darkest hour. Pete never gave up on his team and, thank God, Fergie stayed. Ta Ra Fergie tells Pete's story of his time following United at home and abroad since 1963, attending over 2,000 matches. This is the story of United from a fan's perspective. It covers Busby's European triumph, the despair of relegation and the tortuous false dawns of the 1980s to that elusive title win and Alex Ferguson's twenty-six-year-reign. Watching United has brought countless thrills, but for Pete it has also had a darker side that led to heartache and tragedy.
