Book Synopsis Advanced Computational Methods in Heat Transfer IX by : Bengt Sundén
Download or read book Advanced Computational Methods in Heat Transfer IX written by Bengt Sundén and published by WIT Press. This book was released on 2006 with total page 513 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Heat Transfer topics are commonly of a very complex nature. Often different mechanisms like heat conduction, convection, thermal radiation, and non-linear phenomena, such as temperature-dependent thermophysical properties, and phase changes occur simultaneously. New developments in numerical solution methods of partial differential equations and access to high-speed, efficient and cheap computers have led to dramatic advances during recent years. This book publishes papers from the Ninth International Conference on Advanced Computational Methods and Experimental Measurements in Heat and Mass Transfer, exploring new approaches to the numerical solutions of heat and mass transfer problems and their experimental measurement. Papers encompass a number of topics such as: Diffusion and Convection; Conduction; Natural and Forced Convection; Heat and Mass Transfer Interaction; Casting, Welding, Forging and other Processes; Heat Exchanges; Atmospheric Studies; Advances in Computational Methods; Modelling and Experiments; Micro and Nano Scale Heat and Mass Transfer; Energy Systems; Energy Balance Studies; Thermal Material Characterization; Applications in Biology; Applications in Ecological Buildings; Case Studies.

Download or read book Convection in Porous Media written by Donald A. Nield and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-03-15 with total page 988 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This updated edition of a widely admired text provides a user-friendly introduction to the field that requires only routine mathematics. The book starts with the elements of fluid mechanics and heat transfer, and covers a wide range of applications from fibrous insulation and catalytic reactors to geological strata, nuclear waste disposal, geothermal reservoirs, and the storage of heat-generating materials. As the standard reference in the field, this book will be essential to researchers and practicing engineers, while remaining an accessible introduction for graduate students and others entering the field. The new edition features 2700 new references covering a number of rapidly expanding fields, including the heat transfer properties of nanofluids and applications involving local thermal non-equilibrium and microfluidic effects.

Book Synopsis The Flow Structure Under Mixed Convection in a Uniformly Heated Vertical Pipe by : Jeongik Lee
Download or read book The Flow Structure Under Mixed Convection in a Uniformly Heated Vertical Pipe written by Jeongik Lee and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page 93 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: (Cont.) An experimental facility is designed to obtain the data in the regions not covered in previous work, using nitrogen, helium and carbon dioxide. The facility is expected to operate with heat fluxes up to 10kW/m2 and gas velocities up to 2.5m/s by natural circulation only. A velocity calibration method is designed in addition to the hotwire probe for velocity and temperature profiles measurement. Finally, computational simulations, using the commercial code FLUENT, are performed to select an appropriate turbulence model for investigating mixed convection transitional flow regimes. It was concluded that the basic models in FLUENT were not capable of predicting the transitional flow as the Launder-Sharma turbulence model does. Nevertheless, the advanced numerical algorithm and convenient post processor of FLUENT can still be utilized by using UDF to incorporate other turbulence models into the code.
