Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This personal account of contact with the spirit realm offers insight into the mysteries of death and concrete evidence that life continues on. For most of his adult life, therapist George Dalzell didn’t believe in contact beyond the grave. But his perspective on reality was forever shifted after his friend Michael was killed. Dalzell had counseled people who claimed to hear voices. Now he was hearing a voice himself—one that was unmistakably Michael. The voice revealed information about Michael’s private life and possessions. Other phenomena followed, including apparitions of Michael and rose petals left in the pattern of an angel. And Dalzell wasn’t alone. Michael opened the channels to seven friends and family members, providing incontrovertible signs that prove he was communicating with them. In Messages, Dalzell adds indisputable confirmation of life after death. His uplifting story can offer comfort to grieving families and calm our fears of passing into the next realm.

Book excerpt: In this thoroughly revised and updated classic, a renowned psychologist shows that mourning is far from predictable, and all of us share a surprising ability to be resilient The conventional view of grieving--encapsulated by the famous five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance--is defined by a mourning process that we can only hope to accept and endure. In The Other Side of Sadness, psychologist and emotions expert George Bonanno argues otherwise. Our inborn emotions--anger and denial, but also relief and joy--help us deal effectively with loss. To expect or require only grief-stricken behavior from the bereaved does them harm. In fact, grieving goes beyond mere sadness, and it can actually deepen interpersonal connections and even lead to a new sense of meaning in life.

Book excerpt: For the millions who have enjoyed Proof of Heaven, Heaven is Real, To Heaven and Back, and Getting to Heaven, Testimony of Light is about life after death—and the amazing story of a friendship that endured beyond the veil—published for the first time in the United States. Frances Banks died, as she had lived, fully aware of what she was experiencing and where she hoped to go. She was an Anglican nun for 25 years and for much of that time, the principal of the Teachers' Training College in Grahamstown, South Africa. She was the author of many psychological book. Her last book was Frontiers of Revelation, an account of research into psychic and mystical phenomena. Her friend Helen Greaves was by her side as she finally lapsed into unconsciousness. Then, one evening some three weeks after Frances's death, Helen sensed her presence. This extraordinary encounter marked the beginning of contact between them from both sides of the veil—between life as we know it and life on "the other side." Testimony of Light is based on these communications that Helen received telepathically from Frances. The writings have been authenticated by those who knew them both and who were familiar with their individual writing styles. Moving and inspiring, this classic book is a testament to the enduring power of their friendship, and offers an important message to us all—that the death of the body is but a gentle passing to a much freer and fuller life.

I chose to return when I realized that 'heaven' is a state, not a place" In this truly inspirational memoir, Anita Moorjani relates how, after fighting cancer for almost four years, her body began shutting down—overwhelmed by the malignant cells spreading throughout her system. As her organs failed, she entered into an extraordinary near-death experience where she realized her inherent worth . . . and the actual cause of her disease. Upon regaining consciousness, Anita found that her condition had improved so rapidly that she was released from the hospital within weeks—without a trace of cancer in her body! Within this enhanced e-book, Anita recounts—in words and on video—stories of her childhood in Hong Kong, her challenge to establish her career and find true love, as well as how she eventually ended up in that hospital bed where she defied all medical knowledge. In "Dying to Be Me," Anita Freely shares all she has learned about illness, healing, fear, "being love," and the true magnificence of each and every human being!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Is death the end? Or, to put it another way, do we survive bodily death? Some shrug their shoulders and declare we simply can’t know. Others just say “No.” And a few, flying their philosophical colors, pretentiously profess to not even understand the question. Curiously, the overwhelming majority of human beings throughout the course of history have taken it for granted that death is not the end, that there is a life after death. This striking and seemingly instinctive belief has been embodied in the religious traditions and philosophical reflections of most cultures. There is Life After Death is the first of its kind in that it assembles and analyzes a comprehensive range of data on life after death and then provides a framework to understand the data. No previous book has given a concrete structure of the afterlife that is based on the accounts of “eye”-witnesses, as well as on data from diverse sources. Above all, the book provides exciting and compelling answers to the urgent question: what lies on the other side?

Book excerpt: In the follow-up to Elisa Medhus’s My Son and the Afterlife—“a heartfelt, deeply moving story” (Eben Alexander, New York Times bestselling author of Proof of Heaven)—her son Erik tells his astounding story directly from the afterlife, describing in detail his death, transition, and spiritual renewal. My Life After Death begins on the tragic day when Erik Medhus took his own life. What follows is a moment-by-moment account of the spiritual life he discovers on the other side—told for the very first time in his own words as channeled by medium Jamie Butler and then transcribed by his mother Elisa. Overflowing with his signature honesty and candor, Erik describes more than just a visit to the afterlife. He personally walks us through the experience of dying, transitioning into spirit form, and reveals a detailed look at the life awaiting us on the other side. In this intimate and provocative memoir, crucial questions will finally be answered, including: What does it feel like to die? What is it like to become a spirit? Why and how do spirits communicate with the living? Is there a heaven? Ultimately, Erik’s story provides the answers that will help readers find solace and remove the fears surrounding death, showing that love has no boundaries and life does not truly end.

Book excerpt: Messages from The Light makes clear that we are heading for a more wonderful future, but first we must realize that we have grossly neglected the spiritual part of ourselves and have focused too much on our own short-term self-interests. We have created a materialistic "I don't care about you" society. When our physical body dies, our spirit will discover that it does not only belong to our material, four-dimensional world, but also to something that is so much greater, more wonderful, and more thrilling. In this "unity universe," there are no lesser souls—we are all interconnected and connected to the Light, the ultimate unconditional love.

Book excerpt: First published in 1996. This new book gives voice to an emerging consensus among bereavement scholars that our understanding of the grief process needs to be expanded. The dominant 20th century model holds that the function of grief and mourning is to cut bonds with the deceased, thereby freeing the survivor to reinvest in new relationships in the present. Pathological grief has been defined in terms of holding on to the deceased. Close examination reveals that this model is based more on the cultural values of modernity than on any substantial data of what people actually do. Presenting data from several populations, 22 authors - among the most respected in their fields - demonstrate that the health resolution of grief enables one to maintain a continuing bond with the deceased. Despite cultural disapproval and lack of validation by professionals, survivors find places for the dead in their on-going lives and even in their communities. Such bonds are not denial: the deceased can provide resources for enriched functioning in the present. Chapters examine widows and widowers, bereaved children, parents and siblings, and a population previously excluded from bereavement research: adoptees and their birth parents. Bereavement in Japanese culture is also discussed, as are meanings and implications of this new model of grief. Opening new areas of research and scholarly dialogue, this work provides the basis for significant developments in clinical practice in the field.

Book excerpt: Nearing his final days, a beloved Unitarian minister meditates on life, love, and death: “The goal is to live in such a way that our lives will prove worth dying for.” On a February day in 2008, Forrest Church sent a letter to the members of his congregation, informing them that he had terminal cancer; his life would now be measured in months, not years. He went on to promise that he would sum up his thoughts on the topics that had been so pervasive in his work—love and death—in a final book. Church has been justly celebrated as a writer of American history, but his works of spiritual guidance have been especially valued for their insight and inspiration. As a minister, Church defined religion as "our human response to the dual reality of being alive and having to die." The goal of life, he tells us "is to live in such a way that our lives will prove worth dying for." Love & Death is imbued with ideas and exemplars for achieving that goal, and the stories he offers—all drawn from his own experiences and from the lives of his friends, family, and parishioners—are both engrossing and enlightening. Forrest Church's final work may be his most lasting gift to his readers.

Book excerpt: A compassionate, shame-free guide for your darkest days “A one-of-a-kind book . . . to read for yourself or give to a struggling friend or loved one without the fear that depression and suicidal thoughts will be minimized, medicalized or over-spiritualized.”—Kay Warren, cofounder of Saddleback Church What happens when loving Jesus doesn’t cure you of depression, anxiety, or suicidal thoughts? You might be crushed by shame over your mental illness, only to be told by well-meaning Christians to “choose joy” and “pray more.” So you beg God to take away the pain, but nothing eases the ache inside. As darkness lingers and color drains from your world, you’re left wondering if God has abandoned you. You just want a way out. But there’s hope. In I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die, Sarah J. Robinson offers a healthy, practical, and shame-free guide for Christians struggling with mental illness. With unflinching honesty, Sarah shares her story of battling depression and fighting to stay alive despite toxic theology that made her afraid to seek help outside the church. Pairing her own story with scriptural insights, mental health research, and simple practices, Sarah helps you reconnect with the God who is present in our deepest anguish and discover that you are worth everything it takes to get better. Beautifully written and full of hard-won wisdom, I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die offers a path toward a rich, hope-filled life in Christ, even when healing doesn’t look like what you expect.

Yet after her brother and sister had died, she asked her father for a pencil and began to transcribe messages by automatic handwriting. She said, I felt as if I held a galvanic battery in my hand. Between 1913 and 1917 she received scores of letters from Harry and Helen, describing life after death. Their straight talk about the need for peace, tolerance of others, individual responsibility, and existence on other planes has impressed many and is still relevant today. This was one of the first books we published, and we've kept it in print because new people keep discovering it and thanking us for making it available. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “...I didn’t believe in love at first sight, but the inexplicable seemed to have happened. I had been struck by a thunderbolt. I knew at that moment that our love was ordained. Joseph and I were destined to meet that day, destined to be together, and destined to remain together for a lifetime.” In Greetings from the Other Side, author Benita Glickman describes her special bond with Joseph Larizza, the harmony they experienced, and the unconditional acceptance and support they provided one another. “It was an all-encompassing love that nourished my being, my heart and my soul.” Ms. Glickman delicately relates her story about caregiving, and suffering through hardships inherent in the process. She details the grief and pain she experienced after her beloved Joseph’s passing, and her attempts to make sense of it all, and to cope. Ms. Glickman’s debut memoir ultimately chronicles her spiritual awakening, thus providing hope to those who have lost a love one. It affirms the possibility of life after death through visions, telepathic communications, dreams, and signs of remembrance. Sprinkled with original poetry and drizzled with occasional word play, Greetings from the Other Side will make you smile, cry, open your heart, look at things differently, heal, and grow.
