Book excerpt: Liber VII: Liberi Vel Lapidis Lazvili and Liber IX: E Vel Exercitiorum, Two Short Works by Aleister Crowley. Liber VII - Child (or birth) of the Blue Stone, is a free-verse poem or hymn composed of a prologue and seven parts, (for a total of 394 stanzas). According to the author; "Its seven chapters are referred to the seven planets in the following order: Mars, Saturn, Jupiter, Sol, Mercury, Luna, Venus. Given in magical language (it is) an account of the Initiation of a Master of the Temple." It is a beautifully written work and an exceptional example of the Poet's craft. Liber IX, (Exercises), first published in The Equinox Volume 1, number 1, is a series of exercises designed to develop the necessary qualities, such as physical endurance and psychic abilities, in the aspirant to self-development. This short work is an important piece in the puzzle of understanding Crowley's approach towards self-development and preparation for becoming a master Magician.

Book excerpt: Aleister Crowley was a noted and controversial occultist, ceremonial magician and poet. He has been called "the wickedest man in the world" or "The Great Beast 666 " or "The Master Therion" but he remained a highly influential figure over Western esotericism and the counterculture. He founded the religion of Thelema, which became adopted by the Ordo Templis Orientis (O.T.O.) as well as the magical order Argenteum Astrum, the Order of the Silver Star. This text is a part of The Book of the Law, the foundational text for Thelema."Liber Liberi Vel Lapidis Lazvli, Advmbratio Kabbalae Agyptiorvm Svb Figvra VII, being the Voluntary Emancipation of a certain Exempt Adept from his Adeptship. These are the Birth Words of a Master of the Temple. The nature of this book is sufficiently explained by its title. Its seven chapters are referred to the seven planets in the following order: Mars, Saturn, Jupiter, Sol, Mercury, Luna, Venus."This book is considered to be the foremost book on ceremonial magic written in the twentieth century and is recommended to initiates. This is a valuable book to anyone interested in occult studies.

It is an official publication for Babes of the Abyss, but is recommended even to beginners as highly suggestive." The book consists of 91 chapters, each of which consists of one page of text. The chapters include a question mark, poems, rituals, instructions, and obscure allusions and cryptograms. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thelema is an esoteric and occult social or spiritual philosophy and religious movement developed in the early 1900s by Aleister Crowley. The Thelemic pantheon—a collection of gods and goddesses who either literally exist or serve as symbolic archetypes or metaphors—includes a number of deities, primarily a trio adapted from ancient Egyptian religion, who are the three speakers of The Book of the Law: Nuit, Hadit and Ra-Hoor-Khuit. This book thoroughly explains thelemic belief system which is synthesised from many sources, including Eastern Yoga, Hermeticism, medieval grimoires, contemporary magical theories from writers like Eliphas Levi and Helena Blavatsky, and Crowley's own original contributions. Aspects of Thelema and Crowley's thought in general inspired the development of Wicca and, to a certain degree, the rise of Modern Paganism as a whole, as well as chaos magick and some variations of Satanism. Book excerpt: The Holy Books of Thelema is the name recently given to the collection of those works that Aleister Crowley penned, but that he claimed were written through him--not by him. They therefore are to be considered 'inspired' works. The chief of these books, Liber AL vel Legis, is the only one that involved a voice dictating the text to him. Of all the others, Crowley writes in Confessions: "The spirit came upon me and I wrote a number of books in a way which I hardly know how to describe. They were not taken from dictation like The Book of the Law nor were they my own composition. I cannot even call them automatic writing. I can only say that I was not wholly conscious at the time of what I was writing...I cannot doubt that these books are the work of an intelligence independent of my own." Contents of ΘΕΛΗΜΑ Volume I Liber LXI vel Causæ--Explains the actual history and origin of the present movement. This text, being in Class D, is not technically a Holy Book, but was included in "ΘΕΛΗΜΑ" as an Introduction, and is thus listed here. Liber LXV: Liber Cordis Cincti Serpente--An account of the relations of the aspirant and his Holy Guardian Angel. Volume II Liber VII: Liber Liberi vel Lapidis Lazuli--These are the Birth Words of a Master of the Temple. Its 7 Chapters are referred to the 7 Planets in the following order: Mars, Saturn, Jupiter, Sol, Mercury, Luna, Venus. Volume III Liber XXVII: Liber Trigrammaton sub Figura XXVII--Being a book of Trigrams of the Mutations of the Tao with the Yin and yang. An account of the Cosmic process. Liber CCXX: Liber AL vel Legis sub Figura CCXX: The Book of the Law--Among the Holy Books of Thelema, the chief is The Book of the Law. Every Thelemite is expected to interpret the book, "each for himself". Liber DCCCXIII vel Ararita--An account of the Hexagram and the method of reducing it to the Unity and Beyond. This book describes in magical language a very secret process of Initiation.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is Volume One of a three-volume set, comprising much of Crowley's early material, written mostly between 1898-1902. His earliest works, written between 1887-1897, were almost entirely destroyed by authorities due to their offensive nature. In writing the material that appears in this volume, Crowley toned things down a notch and moved away from the more lurid and graphic sexual themes he had been primarily focused on. He concentrates almost entirely on religion and mythology in this collection. This reflects a time in his life when he was awakening to an important mystical and spiritual level. It can be seen by the reader how Crowley continues to grow and mature into more advanced ideas in the two remaining volumes, as well. It is hard to think of Crowley as a poet, but his style and advanced mystical vocabulary are unique and go beyond that of everyday poets. His plays are also interesting. Crowley once said that the last play, "Tanhauser: The Story of All Time," contained the theory of special relativity, which Einstein clarified more fully and scientifically three years later, in 1905. This volume contains four poems, five plays, four sections of shorter poems, an Epilogue, and an interesting Appendix on Qabalistic Dogma.

Kabbalah is an esoteric method, discipline, and school of thought in Jewish mysticism. It is a set of esoteric teachings meant to explain the relationship between the unchanging, eternal God–the mysterious Ein Sof ("The Infinite")–and the mortal, finite universe (God's creation). It forms the foundation of mystical religious interpretations within Judaism. Historically, Kabbalah emerged from earlier forms of Jewish mysticism, in 12th- to 13th-century Spain and Southern France, and was reinterpreted during the Jewish mystical renaissance in 16th-century Ottoman Palestine. Jewish Kabbalists originally developed their own transmission of sacred texts within the realm of Jewish tradition. The Kabbalah Unveiled includes translations and commentaries of the books of Zohar: The Book of Concealed Mystery; The Greater Holy Assembly; and The Lesser Holy Assembly.
