Book Synopsis International Trade And Intellectual Property by : George R. Stewart
Download or read book International Trade And Intellectual Property written by George R. Stewart and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-09-17 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In light of current negotiations concerning NAFTA and GATT, the question of intellectual property and its impact on international trade has taken on renewed urgency. The recognition and enforcement of intellectual property rights in national jurisdictions can serve to encourage international trade and economic growth or can create barriers to free and open commercial exchange. In this timely volume, Canadian, American, and Mexican scholars examine these landmark agreements and reassess the effects of intellectual property rights on international trade. Focusing on trade and intellectual property policies and practices between and within North America and Europe, they address several key issues, including "gray marketing" in North American and European trading blocs, U.S. trade policy concerning enforcement of intellectual property rights, and dramatic changes in Mexican law regarding intellectual property. The volume is essential for scholars working in intellectual property rights, international trade, and the global economy. Policymakers and anyone wishing to stay current with world trade negotiations will also find this book useful.

Book Synopsis The Mexican Legal System by : Francisc Avalos
Download or read book The Mexican Legal System written by Francisc Avalos and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 1992-05-26 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This reference guide to the laws and legal literature of Mexico has been designed carefully by a reference librarian for researchers who do not read or speak Spanish. This basic sourcebook provides answers to the questions that are asked most frequently: Which is the relevant code? Where can the text of the code be found? What secondary material is available? Which material is available in English? This up-to-date guide should be useful as a reference in college, university, law, government, and public libraries and in companies that do business with Mexico. It could also be used in courses dealing with Mexican law and business. An introduction briefly describes Mexico's legal system and provides some historical background. Then the bibliography points to primary and secondary material of importance and is annotated partially. Entries are organized under forty-one subject categories with subdivisions pointing to the laws, the sources for the text of the laws, secondary materials from periodicals, and books and monographs. All Spanish titles are given first in Spanish and then in English. An appendix gives a directory of publishers. Author and subject indexes are included.

Book Synopsis Indigenous Methodologies, Research and Practices for Sustainable Development by : Marcellus F. Mbah
Download or read book Indigenous Methodologies, Research and Practices for Sustainable Development written by Marcellus F. Mbah and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-10-21 with total page 446 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book states that whilst academic research has long been grounded on the idea of western or scientific epistemologies, this often does not capture the uniqueness of Indigenous contexts, and particularly as it relates to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs were announced in 2015, accompanied by 17 goals and 169 targets. These goals are the means through which Agenda 2030 for sustainable development is to be pursued and realised over the next 15 years, and the contributions of Indigenous peoples are essential to achieving these goals. Indigenous peoples can be found in practically every region of the world, living on ancestral homelands in major cities, rainforests, mountain regions, desert plains, the arctic, and small Pacific Islands. Their languages, knowledges, and values are rooted in the landscapes and natural resources within their territories. However, many Indigenous peoples are now minorities within their homelands and globally, and there is a dearth of research based on Indigenous epistemologies and methodologies. Furthermore, academic research on Indigenous peoples is typically based on western lenses. Thus, the paucity of Indigenous methodologies within mainstream research discourses present challenges for implementing practical research designs and interpretations that can address epistemological distinctiveness within Indigenous communities. There is therefore the need to articulate, as well as bring to the nexus of research aimed at fostering sustainable development, a decolonising perspective in research design and practice. This is what this book wants to achieve. The contributions critically reflect on Indigenous approaches to research design and implementation, towards achieving the sustainable development goals, as well as the associated challenges and opportunities. The contributions also advanced knowledge, theory, and practice of Indigenous methodologies for sustainable development.
