This book was released on 1900 with total page 10 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection consists of autograph correspondence from T.J. Cobden-Sanderson to Cordelia Taylor Baker, a bookbinder and instructor at the St. Louis School and Museum of Fine Arts, who studied with Cobden-Sanderson in the early 1900s. The letters touch on a variety of subjects, with reports on various members of the Doves printing establishment and Mrs. Annie Cobden-Sanderson's activities relating to the Conciliation (Suffrage) Bill, as well as references to Baker's St. Louis employment. During the war years, Cobden-Sanderson paints a vivid picture of English preoccupations and activities. Perhaps the most moving is the final letter of the series, dated 8 September 1917, in which Cobden-Sanderson describes "what has become of the Press & ourselves" after the consignment of the Doves type--along with its punches and matrices--to the River Thames.

This book was released on 1893 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Asking him to read the proof of the technical chapter of his book on bookbinding; saying "I will only ask you to remark any statements, which are absolutely incorrect, or misleading. - There are doubtless many things in it, which you will not agree with. I have taken immense pains with the book : and I think I have treated the subject as a 'fine art', for the first time in English ; at least in a form which is largely historical. I am therefore particularly anxious not to make technical mistakes & so bring down on my head the censure of the professional & Philistine bookbinder. If you would give me the pleasure of dining with me here, any evening this week : I can promise you an excellent dinner : & that would save you from writing any remarks you might be good enough to make to me. Trains from Hammersmith to the Temple are frequent : & I shall be delighted to see you at 7 o'c : What evening you please;" adding, in a postscript, "Please mark my proof, which I enclose, in pencil."
