Hawkins says that he was informed by "friendly" (Creek?) Indians that his son is disliked among some "hostile" Indians, and he asks the governor to warn his son of possible danger before he travels back home through the (Creek?) Nation. Hawkins also mentions that he has been engaged in attempting to recover property allegedly stolen from his sons by the Indians.

Campbell explains that he was detained in the capital while deliberating over negotiation procedures with the Executive Cabinet. Although Campbell was denied his request to treat with a divided council of the Creeks, he is optimistic about negotiations with the Nation because the United States did agree to grant all of his other applications. Troup is informed that talks between Campbell and the Creeks will resume on February 7, 1825 at Indian Springs in the Creek Nation. (The fraudulent Treaty of Indian Springs was signed on February 12, 1825 by a faction of Creeks aligned with the Creek leader William McIntosh.).
