Download or read book Let's Read written by Cynthia A. Barnhart and published by Wayne State University Press. This book was released on 2010 with total page 516 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1961, Let's Read is a simple and systematic way to teach basic reading. Developed by noted linguist Leonard Bloomfield, the book is based on the alphabetic spelling patterns of English. Bloomfield offered an antidote to the idea that English is a difficult language to learn to read by teaching the learner to decode the phonemic sound-letter correlations of the language in a sequential, logical progression of lessons based on its spelling patterns. The learner is first introduced to the most consistent (alphabetic) vocabulary and then to increasingly less alphabetic and less frequent spelling patterns within a vocabulary of about 5,000 words. The second edition of Let's Read brings Bloomfield's innovative program into the twenty-first century without changing the sequence of exercises but with revised text and an attractive new design and layout.

Download or read book The Loom of Language written by Frederick Bodmer and published by W. W. Norton & Company. This book was released on 1985 with total page 724 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Here is an informative introduction to language: its origins in the past, its growth through history, and its present use for communication between peoples. It is at the same time a history of language, a guide to foreign tongues, and a method for learning them. It shows, through basic vocabularies, family resemblances of languages -- Teutonic, Romance, Greek -- helpful tricks of translation, key combinations of roots and phonetic patterns. It presents by common-sense methods the most helpful approach to the mastery of many languages; it condenses vocabulary to a minimum of essential words; it simplifies grammar in an entirely new way; and it teaches a language as it is actually used in everyday life.

Book Synopsis Let's Learn Our Way Through It, Shall We? by : Ekpedeme Pamay M. Bassey
Download or read book Let's Learn Our Way Through It, Shall We? written by Ekpedeme Pamay M. Bassey and published by . This book was released on 2021-07-13 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the end of 2018, I found myself beginning an exciting new position as chief learning officer of the Kraft Heinz Company. Having been in learning and development for more than 20 years, I was to be responsible for creating a culture of continuous learning, bold creativity, and intellectual curiosity; for driving training and learning initiatives at one of the largest food companies in the world. It was a great challenge. I launched Let's Learn Our Way Through It, Shall We? (365 Days of Learning) on a snowy day in Canada, during a ride from a leadership retreat to the Toronto airport, heading home to Chicago. I made a daily commitment. I made a promise: every day for a year, I would learn something new, and would share it with the organization through our internal social media channel. This journal is now a vessel for you to do the same. Your daily learning moment can be just a few minutes long or if inspired, a few hours. Consuming articles, eLearning courses, podcasts, books, and everyday interactions. This journal allows you to spend time each day writing, reflecting on what you learned. Use this journal to commit to a learning practice of your own-because by learning, reflecting, and sharing, we empower others as well as yourself. Let's Learn Our Way Through It, Shall We? (365 Days of Learning) is the foundation of a learning transformation. A vibrant learning practice is an important ingredient to fuel any transformation. There is power in making a commitment to be a lifelong learner. There is power in making a commitment to start a new habit-even if you start with a few minutes a day. There is power in deciding to be the Chief Learning Officer of your life as you continue to work toward the best version of yourself. Welcome to the next 365 days of your life. Let's learn our way through it, shall we?
