Book excerpt: Les prédicteurs de l'acquisition de l'orthographe chez les enfants avec un trouble développemental du langage (TDL), apprenant à lire et à écrire en français, ont été peu investigués dans la littérature. L'objectif de notre mémoire est d'explorer les différentes habiletés liées à l'acquisition de l'orthographe et d'observer leur caractère prédictif sur les performances orthographiques en CE1. Pour ce faire, nous avons utilisé les données provenant d'une cohorte de 45 enfants, recrutés dans deux écoles de la métropole tourangelle, au Centre Référence pour les Troubles du Langage et des Apprentissages (CRTLA), ainsi qu'au sein de cabinets d'orthophonistes libéraux. Nous avons constitué deux groupes d'étude se répartissant ainsi : 21 enfants diagnostiqués avec TDL et 24 enfants présentant un développement typique (DT). Nos participants ont été évalués à trois temps différents (en GSM, en CP et en CE1) à l'aide de protocoles évaluant le langage oral, les habiletés liées au langage écrit, la lecture et l'orthographe. Nos analyses ont concerné les habiletés suivantes : la connaissance des lettres, la conscience phonologique, la dénomination rapide automatisée, la mémoire à court terme verbale, le niveau de lecture et d'orthographe en début d'apprentissage, le niveau de langage oral, les aptitudes non verbales et le graphisme. Les résultats montrent que les enfants avec TDL présentent des performances orthographiques significativement inférieures à celles des enfants à DT. Par ailleurs, la connaissance des lettres et le niveau de lecture en début d'apprentissage en CP présentent un fort aspect prédictif des performances orthographiques en CEl des enfants avec TDL. Ces résultats ont été discutés afin de déterminer leur intérêt dans la pratique clinique orthophonique. Ainsi, il paraît intéressant de soutenir précocement la connaissance des lettres et le développement de la lecture pour faciliter l'acquisition de l'orthographe chez les enfants avec TDL.

Dans ce cadre, nous avons évalué les performances de lecture et d'orthographe en CP de 55 enfants qui avaient été évalués en GSM sur les habiletés cognitives retrouvées dans la littérature. Les parents ont aussi répondu à un questionnaire concernant l'environnement. Ces évaluations ont permis d'une part de repérer des corrélations entre les habiletés cognitives et environnementales et les performances en lecture et en orthographe et d'autre part d'identifier une part partagée avec l'environnement dans la variance de ces liens. Les résultats objectivent un grand nombre de prédicteurs cognitifs (connaissance des lettres, MCTv, langage oral (morphosyntaxe et lexique), conscience phonologique, représentations phonologiques, orthographe et lecture de GSM), ainsi que la DRA pour la lecture et la MT pour l'orthographe. L'environnement a un rôle de prédiction plus important et partage une part de variance sur plus de liens pour l'orthographe que pour la lecture. Le nombre d'années d'éducation du père intervient plus sur les performances en orthographe qu'en lecture et inversement pour le nombre d'années d'éducation de la mère. Les implications cliniques sont discutées afin de soutenir le développement des prédicteurs du langage écrit de CP dès la GSM.

Les tâches de répétition de non-mots sont une mesure efficace de ces représentations. L'épreuve LITMUS-NWR-QU-FR, développée au sein de la COST Action IS0408, vise à détecter le trouble développemental du langage chez l'enfant.Plusieurs études ont, d'ailleurs, montré la pertinence de cette épreuve dans l'évaluation des représentations phonologiques. Notre étude s'inscrit dans la continuité d'un projet initié en 2018-2019 par Frau & Labrevoit (2019) portant sur les facteurs influençant les performances à LITMUS-NWR-QU-FR en moyenne section de maternelle (MSM). Notre étude a pour objectif d'évaluer l'utilité de LITMUS-NWR-QU-FR, mesurée en MSM par Frau & Labrevoit (2019) et en CP, dans la prédiction des performances en conscience phonologique, orthographe phonologique et orthographe lexicale. 68 enfants, âgés de 6 ans en moyenne et ayant participé au premier volet de ce projet, ont participé à notre étude. De Frau & Labrevoit (2019), les scores à LITMUS-NWR-QU-FR, en mémoire à court terme verbale et en vocabulaire en réception, de MSM, ont été recueillis. En CP, plusieurs épreuves ont été administrées : LITMUS-NWR-QUFR, mémoire à court terme verbale, mémoire de travail, conscience phonologique, orthographe phonologique et orthographe lexicale. Nous nous sommes intéressés aux liens transversaux et longitudinaux entre LITMUS-NWR-QU-FR, en MSM et en CP, et les performances en conscience phonologique, orthographe phonologique et orthographe lexicale. Nous avons également examiné les performances individuelles des participants selon leurs scores à LITMUS-NWR-QU-FR de MSM. Les résultats montrent que les performances à LITMUSNWR-QU-FR et en mémoire à court terme verbale prédisent les scores en conscience phonologique et orthographe phonologique. L'orthographe lexicale est principalement prédite par la mémoire à court terme verbale. L'épreuve LITMUS-NWR-QU-FR semble pertinente, en complément d'autres mesures, pour prédire particulièrement les capacités en conscience phonologique et en orthographe phonologique, en début d'apprentissage.
