Book excerpt: Plusieurs mémoires d'orthophonie se sont déjà intéressés à la participation des parents d'enfants porteurs de troubles dyslexiques aux séances d'intervention orthophonique, et ont montré que cet accompagnement parental permettait aux parents de mieux comprendre les difficultés de leur enfant, et de mettre en place des adaptations. Par ailleurs, nous avons constaté que les parents se voient souvent attribuer des « rôles » par les professionnels qui encadrent leur enfant. Notre étude s'inscrit dans la continuité des travaux déjà réalisés, avec l'objectif d'observer la façon dont ces parents perçoivent et investissent leurs rôles d'aidants en lien avec les troubles dyslexiques de l'enfant, selon qu'ils participent ou non aux séances d'orthophonie. Pour cela, nous avons élaboré un questionnaire à destination de deux groupes : les parents qui participent aux séances, et les parents qui n'y participent pas. Les résultats obtenus montrent que les parents sont conscients d'avoir des rôles à jouer auprès de leur enfant, notamment en lien avec l'estime de soi, l'aide aux devoirs, la mise en place d'adaptations, le lien avec les professionnels, l'information de l'entourage quant aux troubles dyslexiques... Toutefois, nous n'avons pas constaté de différence notable dans l'investissement de ces rôles entre les parents de nos deux groupes.

Cette approche semble pertinente dans le cadre des troubles dyslexiques puisque les parents déplorent un manque de connaissances sur les troubles ainsi qu'un manque d'accompagnement. C'est pourquoi, nous avons réalisé des entretiens auprès de cinq parents d'enfants scolarisés en primaire, présentant des troubles dyslexiques et pris en soins à la maison de santé pluriprofessionnelle de Tomblaine (54). Nous souhaitions savoir s'ils avaient conscience de leur rôle de partenaire, s'ils avaient des besoins et s'ils souhaitaient s'investir. Nos résultats montrent que ces parents se sentent effectivement partenaires. Ils ont également de nombreux besoins (connaissances, savoir-faire, savoir-être) et souhaiteraient ainsi s'investir notamment en abordant ces sujets avec un professionnel de santé et en particulier l'orthophoniste. Celui-ci reste l'interlocuteur privilégié des parents composant notre échantillon. Notre étude ouvre la voie à de nombreuses perspectives de recherche.

In other areas, such as the analysis of perceptual spatial disorders, pertinant studies are beginning, as in the analysis of developmental face recognition disorders, and the exploration of spatial disorders of Williams' syndrome. In these areas, interesting routes for future inquiry are also evident. The text of this book is organized around seven key cognitive areas, within which the developmental disorders are addressed in turn: language, memory, perception, reading, spelling, arithmetic and executive skills. The first three of this list may be considered the core areas of cognition; the second three involve specific cultural transmission in their acquisition; and the third, concerns higher order processes.
