Nos pratiques se doivent ainsi d'évoluer afin de répondre correctement à cette demande croissante. Les facettes sont une pratique courante et peu délabrante pour restaurer esthétiquement les secteurs antérieurs. La dentisterie moderne est guidée par des codes de plus en plus exigeants pour le respect des tissus biologiques. Ainsi l'un des concepts piliers de cette dentisterie est celui du gradient thérapeutique, demandant le minimum d'altération de l'organe dentaire lors de la procédure de reconstitution de celui-ci. Cette thèse explore ainsi la possibilité, lors de la confection de facettes, de réduire la préparation dentaire au maximum. Une première partie expose les impératifs de préparation, les biomatériaux utilisés et un descriptif du protocole de réalisation des facettes classiques, montrant ainsi le problème persistant d'une réduction tissulaire non négligeable. La deuxième partie présente alors une alternative envisageable guidée par le gradient thérapeutique : la facette sans préparation. Son protocole de réalisation est décrit puis illustré par un cas clinique de facette unitaire sans préparation réalisé au Service de consultations et de traitements dentaires de Lyon. Ce type de traitement est donc une option envisageable, mais la sélection des cas est impérative et très restreinte. En effet, les indications de ce type de traitement s'arrêtent pour l' instant aux dents présentant un important manque de volume. Autrement, une préparation amélaire est obligatoire, l'épaisseur de céramique minimum étant non négligeable. L' un des enjeux de ces futures années dans ce domaine pourrait ainsi être la proposition de biomatériaux, esthétiques et résistants à des épaisseurs infimes, ménageant de cette façon, les tissus dentaires sains."

This is the first book-length study, in any language, of the international history of audiovisual translation which includes silent cinema. Its scope covers national contexts both within Europe and beyond. It shows how audiovisual translation practices were closely tied to their commercial, technological and industrial contexts. The Translation of Films, 1900-1950 draws extensively on archival sources and expertise. In doing so it revisits and challenges some of the established narratives around film languages and the coming of sound. For instance, the volume shows how silent films, far from being straightforward to translate, went through a complex process of editing for international distribution. It also closely tracks the ferment of experiments in film translation during the transition to sound from 1927 to 1934 and later, as markets adjusted to the demands of synchronised film. The Translation of Films, 1900-1950 argues for a broader understanding of film translation: far from being limited to language transfer, it encompasses editing, localisation, censorship, paratextual framing, and other factors.
