Book Synopsis Brunet Saunier Architecture by : Pascale Blin
Download or read book Brunet Saunier Architecture written by Pascale Blin and published by Walter de Gruyter. This book was released on 2012-12-13 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Founded in 1981 in Paris, Brunet Saunier Architecture is a French leader in the design of hospitals and large-scale public buildings. This publication is much more than a monograph. It is also a professional reference work, as hospital buildings make up a large portion of the showcased projects. Over the last ten years the architectural office has been developing a successful concept known as “Monospace”. The book discusses and analyzes this concept in detail, presenting trueto- scale floor plans, cross-sections, architectural views, and other information. The Monospace concept – which is based on a process of creative reduction down to essentials, i.e. “simplexity” – is adaptive rather than normative or prescriptive, and based on probabilities rather than determinism. It respects energy, even when it sometimes uses it. It takes the individual’s experience into account, and starts from the position of the subject. It also permits changing perspectives. This design concept should attract attention far beyond the borders of France.

Download or read book Gynécologie Obtéstrique en Urgence written by Jean-Patrick Schaal and published by . This book was released on 2016-09-22 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Urological Emergencies by : Hunter Wessells
Download or read book Urological Emergencies written by Hunter Wessells and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-12 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Urological Emergencies: A Practical Approach, Second Edition provides a concise, evidence based review of common urgent and emergent urological conditions in children and adults. Descriptions of the appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic considerations on topics of traumatic, infectious, obstructive, hemorrhagic, iatrogenic, vascular and congenital urological emergencies in adults and children are provided. The text is organized by pathophysiology rather than organ system, allowing the reader to develop approaches to the care of patients with acute urological conditions based on mechanism of disease. Relevant pathophysiological background and epidemiology are reviewed, necessary diagnostic testing recommended, and detailed medical, surgical and endourological management approaches have been provided. All chapters incorporate published guidelines and best practice recommendations from appropriate organizations including the American Urological Association, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and various International Consultations on Urological Diseases. New or significantly revised chapters in each of the subsections address innovations in trauma care and prevention, new strategies in management of kidney stones, and special care needs of children with acute urological problems. Urological Emergencies: A Practical Approach, Second Edition is of great value to practicing urologists, urology residents, emergency medicine trainees and practitioners, and primary care providers including MD’s, PA’s, and NP’s without immediate access to urological consultation.

Book Synopsis Emergency Triage by : Advanced Life Support Group (ALSG)
Download or read book Emergency Triage written by Advanced Life Support Group (ALSG) and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2015-09-08 with total page 183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Emergency Triage: Telephone Triage and Advice complements the highly successful Emergency Triage. The algorithms are rooted in the Manchester Triage System (MTS), which is used in hospitals around the world and which is acknowledged as an effective means of clinical prioritisation. This telephone iteration of a triage system which prioritises millions of patients each year provides a robust, safe, evidence-based system for managing the clinical risk in patients who are at a distance from health care providers. The basic principles that drive the MTS remain, but this book addresses the specific difficulties of assessment by telephone. The possible triage outcomes are "face-to-face now", "face-to-face soon" and "face-to-face later" together with a self-care option. Information and advice is suggested at every level. The advice ranges from life-saving interventions, which can be carried out until health care arrives, to self-care instructions. Emergency Triage: Telephone Triage and Advice provides all the necessary information that telephone triage staff must have to hand as well as including examples of questions to be asked. It will be a valuable resource for staff working in emergency departments, health centres and telephone triage organisations. Furthermore hospitals that are already using Emergency Triage will benefit from being linked with a telephone triage system that follows the same protocols. Updated to Version 1.7 in 2023.

Book Synopsis Stories in the Time of Cholera by : Charles L. Briggs
Download or read book Stories in the Time of Cholera written by Charles L. Briggs and published by Univ of California Press. This book was released on 2003-01-16 with total page 456 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cholera, although it can kill an adult through dehydration in half a day, is easily treated. Yet in 1992-93, some five hundred people died from cholera in the Orinoco Delta of eastern Venezuela. In some communities, a third of the adults died in a single night, as anthropologist Charles Briggs and Clara Mantini-Briggs, a Venezuelan public health physician, reveal in their frontline report. Why, they ask in this moving and thought-provoking account, did so many die near the end of the twentieth century from a bacterial infection associated with the premodern past? It was evident that the number of deaths resulted not only from inadequacies in medical services but also from the failure of public health officials to inform residents that cholera was likely to arrive. Less evident were the ways that scientists, officials, and politicians connected representations of infectious diseases with images of social inequality. In Venezuela, cholera was racialized as officials used anthropological notions of "culture" in deflecting blame away from their institutions and onto the victims themselves. The disease, the space of the Orinoco Delta, and the "indigenous ethnic group" who suffered cholera all came to seem somehow synonymous. One of the major threats to people's health worldwide is this deadly cycle of passing the blame. Carefully documenting how stigma, stories, and statistics circulate across borders, this first-rate ethnography demonstrates that the process undermines all the efforts of physicians and public health officials and at the same time contributes catastrophically to epidemics not only of cholera but also of tuberculosis, malaria, AIDS, and other killers. The authors have harnessed their own outrage over what took place during the epidemic and its aftermath in order to make clear the political and human stakes involved in the circulation of narratives, resources, and germs.
