Book Synopsis Jesus and his Two Fathers: The Person and the Legacy by : Uri Wernik
Download or read book Jesus and his Two Fathers: The Person and the Legacy written by Uri Wernik and published by Vernon Press. This book was released on 2020-03-03 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who was Jesus in real life? What inspired his ideas? What did he aim to achieve? What drew his disciples to him? How was he influenced by them? Unlike the many “quests for the historical Jesus”, as a psychologist, Wernik answers these questions from the perspectives of psychology and the social sciences. This book’s central axis is the theme of the father. It looks at the family constellation into which Jesus was born, where he was raised by a stepfather. It also investigates the relationship he develops with God, his father in heaven; and examines how he became a father figure to his disciples and followers. It is hoped that readers will also think about their own father when reading, the one usually called “dad”. Jesus and His Two Fathers sees Jesus’ love of peace and appeasement doctrine, as well as his difficulty with anger control, in the context of his upbringing and family constellation. Wernik offers a solution to the problem of the “missing years” which were unaccounted in the New Testament. He examines the internal conflicts in Jesus’ movement, and the tensions with the religious establishment, which led to his death. Jesus did not see himself as the Messiah, and Wernik shows him in fact as a great reformer of Judaism, who changed the notions of righteousness, the relation of the believers to God, and the status of the commandments. This book will be of interest to scholars, teachers and students in the humanities and social sciences, among others in the fields of religion, especially Christianity and Judaism. It is aimed at interested discerning readers of non-fiction in these areas.
Book Synopsis Melchizedek, King of Sodom by : Robert R. Cargill
Download or read book Melchizedek, King of Sodom written by Robert R. Cargill and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The biblical figure Melchizedek appears just twice in the Hebrew Bible, and once more in the Christian New Testament. Cited as both the king of Shalem-understood by most scholars to be Jerusalem-and as an eternal priest without ancestry, Melchizedek's appearances become textual justification for tithing to the Levitical priests in Jerusalem and for the priesthood of Jesus Christ himself. But what if the text was manipulated? Robert R. Cargill explores the Hebrew and Greek texts concerning Melchizedek's encounter with Abraham in Genesis as a basis to unravel the biblical mystery of this character's origins. The textual evidence that Cargill presents shows that Melchizedek was originally known as the king of Sodom and that the later traditions about Sodom forced biblical scribes to invent a new location, Shalem, for Melchizedek's priesthood and reign. Cargill also identifies minor, strategic changes to the Hebrew Bible and the Samaritan Pentateuch that demonstrate an evolving, polemical, sectarian discourse between Jews and Samaritans competing for the superiority of their respective temples and holy mountains. The resulting literary evidence was used as the ideological motivation for identifying Shalem with Jerusalem in the Second Temple Jewish tradition. A brief study with far-reaching implications, Melchizedek, King of Sodom reopens discussion of not only this unusual character, but also the origins of both the priesthood of Christ and the role of early Israelite priest-kings.

Download or read book Temple Theology written by Margaret Barker and published by SPCK. This book was released on 2004-04-23 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Margaret Barker believes that Christianity developed so quickly because it was a return to far older faith—far older than the Greek culture that is long-held to have influenced Christianity. Temple Theology explains that the preaching of the gospel and the early Christian faith grew out of the centuries' old Hebrew longing for God's original Temple.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The current world confusion and condition of human affairs is a natural phase within an evolutionary process that will ultimately lead to the unification of the human race into a single social order. This processhas passed throughstageswe should consider as being analogous tothose of infancy and childhood, and is now in the culminating period of adolescence approaching its long-awaited coming of agean age of universal peace and justice. This has been the promise given throughout all the major faiths of the world. The social fabric of the world is out of balance and through Divine interventionnations willform together in a collective consciousness recognizing the need for a revolutionary shift of spirit to undertake those measures creating lasting harmony and peace. Dr. M. Scott Peck speaks of world-views as being religious. To move away from war, we must distinguish between "true religions and false religions, true prophets and false prophets," and that "truth in religion is characterized by inclusivity," while "falsity in religion can be detected by its one-sidedness and failure to integrate the whole." History clearly shows that some form of a universal legislative body is not only essential, but also inevitable.Such a system is not conceived from the mind of mortal man; rather, it is a Divine System that was set in motion over 6000 years ago. The purpose in writing Melchizedek & the Temple is to show the story of this evolutionary processa journey through time, culminating with the promise of an earthly kingdoman all-inclusive world government, free from tyranny, hate, prejudice and war.Melchizedek & the Temple offers a practical, and compelling alternative to antiquated ideas that in reality prevent humankind from achieving what it longs foruniversal peace and justice. It is a message of warning and of promise.

Book Synopsis The Macarian Legacy by : Marcus Plested
Download or read book The Macarian Legacy written by Marcus Plested and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 2004-09-23 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Macarian writings are among the most important and influential works of the early Christian ascetic and mystical tradition. Marcus Plested deals both with their immediate historical and theological context and with their later influence and circulation - their 'legacy'. His book constitutes the first attempt to examine in detail and in the round the nature of that legacy within the Eastern Christian tradition. This is undertaken not so much as an exercise in source criticism as an exploration of the very nature and dynamic of the Christian paradosis. In short, Plested offers a timely reassessment of the 'place' of the writings in the Eastern Christian tradition, thereby clearing away some of the pre-conceptions that have hindered due appreciation of these remarkable works."--BOOK JACKET.

Fascinating stories are told of the ways in which the Calvinist tradition has contributed much to the building of colonial societies, but also of the ways it has attracted ridicule and derision and has been subject to caricature that is sometimes deserved, sometimes humorous, but often grossly misleading.

Download or read book GIZA LEGACY written by Rico Paganini and published by EVOL PUBLISHING. This book was released on 2021-08-11 with total page 640 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Will humans overcome their technical, material worldview and find their way back to the freedom of the spiritual world? This can only succeed if we can realign with the lost legacies of ancient times and can decipher that wisdom. Scientists and spiritual explorers alike are striving to penetrate the hidden worlds of Giza. The discoveries they have made are nothing short of breathtaking. Some may suspect it while others already know: Here, both in and below the pyramids, lies the key to a liberating truth for all those who seek it—the GIZA LEGACY. In this groundbreaking book, Rico Paganini provides a fascinating overview of developments and discoveries involving the pyramids and the Sphinx. Modern technology combined with spiritual sensing abilities enabled him to penetrate spheres that have been blocked until now. In the course of two excursions to Egypt over a period of seven years, a world-shattering realization came to him: The real secret of the pyramids has never yet even been recognized. It has little to do with how they were built and their incomprehensible size and geometry, but instead it has to do with their metaphysical significance and their function as a guidepost to the subterranean world beneath them. In this book the author takes us along on some of his expeditions. He meticulously documented all that he experienced in photographs and sketches. The book features hundreds of photographs as well as maps and 3D graphics, which give us an impression of the structures found both aboveground and belowground in Giza and of newly discovered chambers and even the legendary Hall of Records. Giza Legacy paints a picture of a fascinating world in which the meaning of Giza is placed in a greater context that goes far beyond the borders of Egypt. It is nothing less than a new, or rediscovered, human history traced far back to the lost continents of Atlantis and Lemuria. The clues are there for all to see wherever the ancient megalithic structures remain. And the clues extend far beyond the distant past into the cosmos and the far-off constellations of Orion, Sirius and the Pleiades. Rico Paganini reveals the correlations that have until now been taboo. In a fascinating and methodical manner, he opens our eyes to the spiritual world behind the mundane material one, showing us how, through archeological discoveries, we can gain access to an entirely new worldview. However, a shadow has been cast upon the historical remains of the three ancient cultures. For years and with increasing tempo, a far-reaching wall is being built around the pyramids and Sphinx. The impressively documents the dimensions and significance of this dramatic development. For if they are here, both inside and beneath the structures—the answers to great questions of humanity lying hidden—then should scientific and spiritual researchers remain excluded from their discovery? Who or what lies behind the ridiculously extensive Giza Wall? Where do we come from? Where are we going? This book will affect those who ask themselves such questions. It is not just an extremely thorough report on the world wonders in Egypt but a report about the spiritual hope of humankind.
