Download or read book Lectures in Systematic Theology written by Greg Nichols and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2016-12 with total page 680 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "So the Lord said to Moses, "I will also do this thing that you have spoken; for you have found grace in My sight, and I know you by name." And he said, "Please, show me Your glory."" (Exodus 33:17-18) Moses hungered to see God's glory. He pleaded: "Show me, I pray you, your glory." This should be our prayer as we study the doctrine of God. Reverent hunger to see God's glory should motivate us. We must hunger to see the glory of his existence, knowledge, nature, names, and decree. We must hunger to know God and thirst after the knowledge of God. Further, the Lord promised to give Moses the desire of his heart: "I will make all my good-ness pass before you, and will proclaim the name of Jehovah before you." God also fulfilled this promise. When we come to God with reverent hunger, he will fill our hearts with the knowledge of himself. He will not disappoint us. He will surely show us his glory, and satisfy us with the display of his Name. ...We should not approach the doctrine of God with a critical spirit, or as a philosophical quest with a hunger for speculation. If any course in systematic theology should evoke spiritual hunger, this one should. The doctrine of God should never be dull, or dry, or speculative, or philosophical. It should pulse with spiritual life and hunger. Let's approach this subject with Moses' disposition. (Excerpt from the book)

Book Synopsis Letters to My Students by : Jason K. Allen
Download or read book Letters to My Students written by Jason K. Allen and published by B&H Publishing Group. This book was released on 2019-07-30 with total page 135 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Few books have more influenced those called to gospel ministry than Charles Spurgeon’s Lectures to My Students. This influence of this book, like the Prince of Preachers himself, reverberates to our present age. Carrying forward this tradition is Jason Allen’s Letters to My Students. Dr. Allen serves as president of Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Spurgeon College, the former ranking as one of the largest and fastest growing seminaries in North America. Dr. Allen has also served in multiple pastorates. His passion to serve the church by equipping a generation of pastors, missionaries, and ministers for faithful service is reflected in Letters to My Students. Letters to My Students is a biblical, accessible guide for ministers and ministers-in-training. It brings both biblical and practical wisdom to bear on the minister’s three main responsibilities: preaching, leading, and shepherding the flock of God. Martin Lloyd-Jones famously described the call to ministry as the highest, greatest, and most glorious calling to which one can be called. If this assessment resonates with you, you’ll want every available tool to strengthen your ministry. Letters to My Students is one such resource.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Lectures on Pastoral Theology The following Lectures have been often delivered in the semi nary with which the author is connected. They might have been retained in manuscript, to be still further repeated and improved. But experience has convinced me that I could better promote the interests of my pupils by putting my Lectures into their hands in the form of a text-book, to be read and pondered and made the subject of conversation in the lecture-room, than by simply calling them together, and repeating the Lectures in 'their hearing. I have wished also to do something for theological students and young ministers generally, into whose hands the printed Lectures may, peradventure, fall. Nor am I altogether without hope that my older ministerial brethren, whose privilege it is to be intrusted with the care of souls. May derive some benefit from the thoughts of one who was for twelve years a pastor like themselves, and who still delights to look back upon those years, as among the most pleas ant, if not the most useful, of his life.
