Die Problemstellung lautet: Lebensweltorientierte Soziale Arbeit mit unbegleiteten Flüchtlingen im Jugendalter in Deutschland. Dazu werden zunächst die Gründe und Ursachen für eine Flucht erläutert unter besonderer Berücksichtigung von Jugendlichen auf der Flucht. Anschließend wird der Begriff unbegleitete minderjährige Flüchtlinge (UMF) definiert, sowie der Bezug zur Sozialen Arbeit hergestellt, im Hinblick auf die Herausforderungen denen (minderjährige) Flüchtlinge begegnen können, Herausforderungen wie z.B. der Zugang zu Bildung oder die Verarbeitung der Fluchtgeschichte. Als wichtiges Konzept der Sozialen Arbeit für die Arbeit mit unbegleiteten minderjährigen Flüchtlingen, denen sich derartige Herausforderungen stellen, soll dann das Konzept der Lebensweltorientierung diskutiert werden. Das Konzept wird deshalb zunächst erläutert und anschließend in Verbindung mit Flüchtlingen im Jugendalter gebracht. Dabei geht es um die Aspekte des rechtlichen Umgangs mit unbegleiteten minderjährigen Flüchtlingen, beziehungsweise welche Möglichkeiten die Soziale Arbeit hat, sie zu unterstützen und unterzubringen. Die Verbindung der lebensweltorientierten Sozialen Arbeit mit Flüchtlingen im Jugendalter spiegelt den Hauptaspekt dieser Arbeit wider und wird im Fazit noch einmal aufgegriffen. Ziel ist es, die Möglichkeiten durch Lebensweltorientierung aufzuzeigen und klarzustellen wie wichtig dieses Konzept in der Arbeit mit minderjährigen Flüchtlingen ist.

Im Jahr 2011 war es eine vergleichsweise geringe Anzahl von 42,5 Millionen Menschen. 2015 haben ca. 442 000 Menschen Asyl in Deutschland beantragt. Das ist nach den Angaben des Bundesamts für Migration und Flüchtlinge (BAMF) ein neuer Höchststand, seit 1953 erstmals Zählungen durchgeführt wurden. 2010 waren es beispielsweise nur 48 000 (siehe BAMF 2016). Dieser rasante Anstieg macht die Relevanz der Arbeit mit Geflüchteten, für SozialarbeiterInnen deutlich, weil so viele Menschen nach Deutschland geflüchtet sind und auch weiterhin flüchten werden. Die Zahlen zeigen die Dringlichkeit für eine ausführliche Auseinandersetzung mit der Arbeit mit Geflüchteten. Meiner Meinung nach bietet sich hier eine Chance, sich kulturell und gesellschaftlich weiterzuentwickeln und dazuzulernen, denn soziale Arbeit hilft zum Beispiel durch Beratung und Vermittlung und dabei können SozialarbeiterInnen gleichzeitig selbst über Kultur lernen. Allerdings wird das Thema "Flüchtlinge" nicht nur als Problem, sondern sogar als Bedrohung angesehen. Dieser Ansicht sollte soziale Arbeit entgegenwirken und die Möglichkeit wahrnehmen, verzweifelten Menschen effektiv und langfristig zu helfen. Die traumatisierenden Umstände, in denen Kinder-Flüchtlinge sich oft befinden, machen eine besonders sensible und adäquate Hilfe notwendig. Sie muss sich also individuell an der Lebenswelt und an dem Alltag der Menschen orientieren.

Die Auseinandersetzung mit der Thematik der Ausarbeitung birgt auch einen persönlichen Bezug, aufgrund meiner früheren Tätigkeit in einer Jugendhilfeeinrichtung, die unbegleitete minderjährige Flüchtlinge betreute. Gerade die Flüchtlingsbewegungen der vergangenen Jahre und insbesondere die Zahlen der in Deutschland Zuflucht suchenden jungen Menschen lassen auch die Herausforderung an die Soziale Arbeit in den Fokus rücken. Den jungen Menschen stellt sich die Aufgabe des Zurechtfindens im Alltag in einem ihnen oftmals unbekannten Land. Auch im Hinblick auf eine erfolgreiche Integration stellt dies eine wichtige Basis dar. Hierzu möchte ich das Konzept der Lebensweltorientierung als Ansatzpunkt heranziehen und aufzeigen, wie hier im Rahmen der Sozialen Arbeit Unterstützung geleistet werden kann.

Creative knowledge work is based on an understanding of language, culture and symbolic meanings. This can best be obtained through local and national embeddedness. Yet, this necessity for embeddedness stands in contrast to the demand in geographical mobility. How is this contradiction solved by individuals? What new forms of place attachment does this bring about? This book introduces a showcase of 25 multilocal creative knowledge workers, who live in different countries at the same time. It investigates how continuous mobility becomes part of their lifeworld, and how it changes their feelings of belonging and practices of place attachment. Applying an innovative methodological mix of social phenomenology, hermeneutics and mental mapping, this book takes a detailed look at biographies and the role of places in mobile lifeworlds. Plug&Play Places brings forth the idea that places have to be understood as individual items, which are configured and then plugged into the ‘system’ of the own lifeworld. They can be ‘played’ without great effort once an individual needs to make use of them. This new type of place attachment is a form of subjective standardization of place, which complements the well-known models of objective standardization of places. Plug&Play Places is relevant for scientists who deal with mobility and its impact on individual lifeworlds, with transnational multilocality and with flexibilized labour markets. Many schools deal with student populations that due to migration have become increasingly multilingual. Politically, few would argue against the importance of multilingualism; rather, it is promoted to the fullest. However, in practical terms the challenges associated with teaching and educational policies have increased manifold as a result of the linguistic diversity among student bodies. Reading is certainly regarded as a key learning skill, however, the question arises as to how the students' life-world multilingualism is taken into consideration. Furthermore, being considered part of teachers' professional competence, teachers' mental processes and perceptions (beliefs) have been the focus in several different academic fields. Previous research suggests that there are significant links between teachers' beliefs and practices. This thesis explores the aforementioned aspects in greater detail, with the overall aim to gain a deeper understanding of teachers' beliefs and strategies when teaching reading in multilingual settings. Using a cross-disciplinary, qualitative research approach, the empirical inquiry is based on case studies within different, linguistically diverse settings. The case studies include classroom observations as well as teacher interviews in German, Swedish and Chilean grade 4 classrooms.

The popular films Lola rennt, Sonnenallee, Herr Lehmann, NVA, Alles auf Zucker!, and Mein Führer—Die wirklich wahrste Wahrheit über Adolf Hitler are reexamined through the lens of traditional and more recent humor or comic book theories. The contributors focus on how each artwork enriches four prominent postwall German cultural trends: post-unification identity reconstruction, Vergangenheitsbewältigung (including Hitler humor), New German Popular Literature (Christian Kracht’s ironic subtexts), and immigrant perspectives (a “third voice” in the East-West binary reflected here pointedly in Eulenspiegel cartoons). To date, no other scholarly work provides as comprehensive an overview of the diverse strategies of humor used in the past two decades in German-speaking countries.

Book excerpt: For the first time, this book brings together three controversial topics: homogeneous grouping of students within classrooms by ability or achievement criteria, tracking of students into courses of study by the same criteria, and retention of students in their present grade so that they repeat a year's work instead of being promoted. The editors solicited syntheses of research on these topics from outstanding scholars with a variety of views. Initial versions of the chapters were discussed at a national invitational conference sponsored by the Laboratory for Student Success, the Mid-Atlantic Regional Educational Laboratory, at Temple University Center for Research in Human Development and Education (CRHDE) through a contract with the former Office of Educational Research and Improvement (OERI), now the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) of the U.S. Department of Education. At the conference, the chapter authors benefited from discussions with one another, other scholars, policymakers, educators, and parents. Their recommendations are reported in the last chapter.
