Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In our postmodern, experience-oriented culture, people are longing for greater authenticity, integrity, and depth in their pastors and leaders. Board directors, church members, and staff alike are all eagerly seeking leaders who effectively integrate their spirituality and leadership. Pastors and executives, however, often struggle with knowing how to integrate their spiritual values and practices into their leadership and management roles. Designed for pastors, executives, administrators, managers, coordinators, and all who see themselves as leaders and who want to fulfill their God-given purpose, The Spirit-Led Leader addresses the critical fusion of spiritual life and leadership for those who not only want to see results, but who also desire to care just as deeply about who they are and how they lead as they do about what they produce and accomplish. Geoffrion creates a new vision for spiritual leadership as partly an art, partly a result of careful planning, and always a working of the grace of God

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How did Jesus lead people? This matters because without leadership there is no discipleship --without discipleship there is no church. Discipleship is indispensable. Yet discipleship is often the battlefield upon which religious-culture does war against itself and its purpose. In the ministry of Jesus we find deep-seated principles that illustrate how Jesus created disciples. These principles are so fundamental that they speak to every issue of christian leadership and church culture. Jesus did not create rule sets. Jesus did not offer discipleship manuals. His leadership was astonishing to those who witnessed it. Yes, he did miracles --but no one was quoted saying Jesus did miracles unlike anyone. What the people said was that no one spoke like him. Jesus sounded unlike any religious leader the people had ever heard. Jesus did not try to organize them or rule them or control them. He taught enigmatically, in parables and aphorisms -yet he always challenged the hearer with the unspeakable mystery of the kingdom of heaven. Jesus' leadership style celebrated influence rather than control, choice rather than manipulation. Jesus used 46 parables in his teaching. All of them reveal something about the kingdom of God. Yet none of these parables present a religious to-do list. None of these parables would make a Pharisee happy. Yet the religion that the people knew was framed around obedience rather than understanding -so why wouldn't Jesus just make rules? Jesus' teaching leaves the hearer with the distinct impression that he mistrusted rules, systems, and formulas. Rather, Jesus would share insight into the Kingdom of God. Jesus would offer a parable, a truth, a concept, then leave the hearer to wrestle with it, to make application, to organize himself or herself in response to that insight. The issue of control versus influence lies at the heart of ministry. How we organize churches. How we advocate for politics. The culture that develops within our congregations. The tone of our teaching. Control versus influence becomes a culture war between church liberals and church conservatives. Sincere people disagree. Yet isn't it interesting that the One who actually had power forsook it, and humbled himself to influence and invitation? Jesus transformed the lives of the people he touched. Not just the Twelve but many beyond that inner circle. How did he do it? Jesus did it through levels of discipleship --where the hearer individually decides both whether he or she will respond, and the level of his or her response. This book seeks to show how Jesus used levels of discipleship to orient people toward the Kingdom of Heaven. And how we can use levels of discipleship to create an influence culture in our own Christian efforts.

Book excerpt: Christ commanded the church to make disciples, to produce people who love and obey God, bear fruit, and live with joy. The crisis at the heart of the church is that we often pay lip service to making disciples, but we seldom put much effort behind doing it. For the pastor who is ready to put words into action, The Disciple-Making Pastor offers the inspiration and practical know-how to do so. Bill Hull shows pastors the obstacles they will face, what disciples really look like, the pastor's role in producing them, and the practices that lead to positive change. He also offers a six-step coaching process to help new disciples grow in commitment and obedience and practical ideas to integrate disciple making into the fabric of the church.

Book excerpt: Jesus Christ set the example of perfect leadership. The Bible states that Jesus mingled among His fellowmen and taught them, ministered to them, and encouraged them to a better way of life. He said, "Follow me" and taking the lead, He moved people forward. We can have this same influence whether or not we have an official leadership position by simply leading as He leads. Whether we are parents, coaches, teachers, teammates, leaders, subordinates, spectators, or fellow commuters, we can use these attributes to influence situations and people towards a better place. This book contains a simple 7-step process that helps us acquire the attributes of Jesus. The book also discusses 75 attributes Jesus demonstrated as He led people and influenced situations. The discussion of these attributes draws upon some 1,100 scriptural references including counsel from both ancient and modern apostles who emulate His example. Each of us are stronger in some of these attributes than others but as we study the perfect example of the perfect leader, we can become better and do better, and help others to make similar improvements. The discussion of each attribute is accompanied by several questions to help us apply the attribute in our daily lives. Small improvements in acquiring these attributes can yield significant benefits as we mingle among our fellowmen and lead people and situations to a better place. Then, we are leading as Jesus leads!
