Download or read book Formation continue, recherche et partenariat written by Carol Landry and published by PUQ. This book was released on 2013-08-21T00:00:00-04:00 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

This book was released on 2020-01-01 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book was inspired by the inaugural National Roundtable on Environmental and Sustainability Education in Canadian Faculties of Education (Roundtable 2016), which took place June 14-16, 2016, at Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario. Roundtable 2016 brought together over seventy participants from across Canada, including educators, researchers, policy-makers, consultants, and community organizations. Over the course of three days, participants took part in keynote addresses, research colloquia, networking socials, and collaborative inquiry activities focused on Environmental Sustainability Education in Teacher Education (ESE-TE). Roundtable 2016 resulted in the publication of a National Action Plan containing action-oriented recommendations for enhancing ESE-TE, and a position statement titled “The Otonabee Declaration,” where delegates articulated their views regarding environmental degradation, the critical need for enhancing ESE-TE, and, the role educators, children, youth, educational institutions, policy makers, and Indigenous communities play in enhancing ESE-TE in Canada. This volume concludes with a discussion placing current Canadian ESE-TE theory and practice within an international context.

Book Synopsis Schooling and Cultural Autonomy by : Rodrigue Landry
Download or read book Schooling and Cultural Autonomy written by Rodrigue Landry and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The results of the students from the 30 school boards are grouped into four regions: New Brunswick, the other Atlantic provinces, Ontario, the Western provinces and the territories.2 The last chapter summarizes the main study findings and examines the ensuing educational and pedagogical consequences. [...] The institutional completeness component is the place where the main action takes place for the members of the community, the institutions and organizations of civil society. [...] Social proximity is the foundation of the model for cultural auton- omy, helping to highlight its central and fundamental role both for the vitality of the language and for the cultural autonomy of the group. [...] These are enculturation (amount of contact with the group's language and culture), personal autonomization (which ensures a person's autonomy as a learner and user of the language), and social conscientization (which encourages the development of a "critical consciousness" of the group's legitimacy and stability and sparks behaviours of involvement and leadership). [...] It rep- resents the group's management of the cultural and social institu- tions that breathe life into the group's language in the public domain (Breton, 1964) and marks the community's ability to establish and manage what Fritz Capra (2002) calls "identity borders." In fact, insti- tutions are the markers of the group's collective identity and have a major role to play in its historical continui.

This book was released on 2017-01-30T00:00:00-05:00 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Teachers Caught in the Action written by Ann Lieberman and published by Teachers College Press. This book was released on 2001-04-27 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Because what we do in staff development can best be understood in terms of Contexts, Strategies, and Structures, the remainder of the book features distinguished educators who write from their own unique experiential and theoretical stances. Jacqueline Ancess describes how teachers in New York City secondary schools increase their own learning while improving student outcomes • Milbrey W. McLaughlin and Joel Zarrow demonstrate how teachers learn to use data to improve their practice and meet educational standards • Lynne Miller presents a case study of a long-lived school, university partnership • Beverly Falk recounts stories of teachers working together to develop performance assessments, to understand their student’s learning, to re-think their curriculum, and much more • Laura Stokes analyzes a school that successfully uses inquiry groups. There are further contributions (including some from novice teachers) by Anna Richert Ershler, Ann Lieberman, Diane Wood, Sarah Warshauer Freedman, and Joseph P. McDonald. These powerful exemplars from practice provide a much-needed overview of what matters and what really works in professional development today.

Download or read book Action Research written by Jean McNiff and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2002-01-22 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the first edition of this established text was published in 1988, action research has gained ground as a popular method amongst educational researchers, and in particular for practising teachers doing higher-level courses. In this new edition Jean McNiff provides updates on methodological discussions and includes new sections of case study material and information on supporting action research. The book raises issues about how action research is theorised, whether it is seen as a spectator discipline or as a real life practice, and how practitioners position themselves within the debate. It discusses the importance for educators of understanding their own work and showing how their educative influence can lead to the development of good orders in formal and informal learning settings and in the wider community. This second edition comes at a time when, after years of debate over what counts as action research, it is now considered an acceptable and useful part of mainstream research practice.
