Download or read book La mort du fils written by François-Xavier Durrwell and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. " Fr.-X. Durwell

This book was released on 1989 with total page 414 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Papers presented at the Tenth International Conference on Patristic Studies held in Oxford 1987 (see also Studia Patristica 19, 20, 21 and 23). The successive sets of Studia Patristica contain papers delivered at the International Conferences on Patristic Studies, which meet for a week once every four years in Oxford; they are held under the aegis of the Theology Faculty of the University. Members of these conferences come from all over the world and most offer papers. These range over the whole field, both East and West, from the second century to a section on the Nachleben of the Fathers. The majority are short papers dealing with some small and manageable point; they raise and sometimes resolve questions about the authenticity of documents, dates of events, and such like, and some unveil new texts. The smaller number of longer papers put such matters into context and indicate wider trends. The whole reflects the state of Patristic scholarship and demonstrates the vigour and popularity of the subject.

Book Synopsis Phénoménologie de la mort by : E. Feron
Download or read book Phénoménologie de la mort written by E. Feron and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1999-09-30 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inspired by Levinas, but in constant dialogue with Heidegger, Feron considers death to be a phenomenon that lies within the reach of phenomenology. The act of the other's death is essentially a decease, a break affecting the identity. It forces man to consider the fundamental intersubjectivity inscribed in his temporality. Viewed in this way, death does not look merely like the term of life coming to an end. Nor is it a passage to `somewhere beyond'. Rather, it lies at the core of the act of relationship. In its search in the space between sense and non-sense, this phenomenology of death reveals the fundamentally relational dimension of the humane and sketches the main features of this paradoxical `intersubjectivity': the position of third party that is taken by man, the calling of son that he has been selected for and - midway between passivity (Levinas) and possibility (Heidegger) - the condition of `liability' to which he is dedicated and of which he is also worthy.

Book Synopsis States of Decadence by : Guri Barstad
Download or read book States of Decadence written by Guri Barstad and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2016-12-14 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: States of Decadence is a two volume anthology that focuses on the literary and cultural phenomenon of decadence. Particular attention is given to literature from the end of the 1800s, the fin de siècle; however, the essays presented here are not restricted to this historical period, but draw lines both back in time and forward to our day to illuminate the contradictory multiplicity inherent in decadence. Furthermore, the essays go beyond literary studies, drawing on a number of the tropes and themes of decadence manifested in the arts and culture, such as in music, opera, film, history, and even jewelry design. Volume 2 comprises essays on the following thematic areas: “Images of Decadent Women”, “Transmedia Decadence”, “Contemporary Decadence”, and “Poetic Decadence”. The contributors are part of an active network of international scholars from many different countries. As the expansive title of the volume suggests, they explore the decadent aesthetic approach to the arts, to culture, and to a worldview that juxtaposes a strange mixture of conservatism and rebellion, ambivalence and deep convictions.
