Au milieu du mal qui se commet ici-bas, quitte à devoir renverser des despotes et leur trône, il fonde et étend son règne de grâce et de paix. Les croyants qui entendent lui rester fidèle connaissent bien des épreuves, et parfois même des persécutions sanglantes. Mais il sait accomplir des miracles pour les protéger, et l'épreuve de leur foi n'est ni plus longue ni plus intense que ce qu'ils peuvent supporter. Sa promesse est certaine, et le jour vient où il les délivrera de tout mal. "C'est ici la persévérance des saints, qui gardent les commandements de Dieu et la foi en Jésus" (Apocalypse 14.12). Pr. L'auteur Etoughé AnAni PAtrick ressort, que ce soit pour l'ori- gine ou pour l'authenticité du livre de Daniel, cela n'a rien à voir avec l'époque des Macchabées. Patrick justifie aussi pourquoi son utilité reste valide tant sur le plan spirituel, historique que prophétique pour le chrétien moderne.
