Book Synopsis The Law of Wills in Michigan With Forms (Classic Reprint) by : Franklin A. Beecher
Download or read book The Law of Wills in Michigan With Forms (Classic Reprint) written by Franklin A. Beecher and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-10 with total page 474 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Law of Wills in Michigan With Forms The subject of Wills is an interesting and important one when viewed from the standpoint of one jurisdiction, especially where the decision of the Court have been of uniform high order and where these have settled most of the points involved in the subject. Precedents, with some exceptions, have not the value in will cases that they have in other branches of the law, and therefore a presentation of the decisions of this particular jurisdiction in a systematic and logical order, amplifying, supporting and illustrating the general principles, will suffice to point out the way for the solution of new problems. Every point has been made to present, as near as possible, the principles in the exact language of the Court. In Part Two, containing Forms of Wills, a novel feature has been introduced, under the name of a Composite Will, which is made up from a variety of usual and exceptional clauses found in wills, out of which any complete will may be formulated. It also includes a number of Selected Wills Of Large Estates, which may be looked upon as models for the reason that there seems to have been no necessity for the Court's constructions. It also contains Construed Wills and Defective Wills which are illustrative of those points to be avoided. Slavery was attacked, defended, amplified, and mitigated. This happened in the halls of Congress, the courts, the political debate, the public platform, and the lecture hall. This volume examines the issues, speakers, and venues for this controversy between 1850 and 1877. It combines exploration of the broad contours of controversy with careful analysis of specific speakers and texts.
Book Synopsis The Boundaries Between Us by : Daniel P. Barr
Download or read book The Boundaries Between Us written by Daniel P. Barr and published by Kent State University Press. This book was released on 2006 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although much has been written about the Old Northwest, The Boundaries between Us fills a void in this historical literature by examining the interaction between Euro-Americans and native peoples and their struggles to gain control of the region and its vast resources. Comprised of twelve original essays, The Boundaries between Us formulates a comprehensive perspective on the history and significance of the contest for control of the Old Northwest. The essays examine the socio cultural contexts in which natives and newcomers lived, tradod, negotiated, interacted, and fought, delineating the articulations of power and possibility, difference and identity, violence and war that shaped the struggle. The essays do not attempt to present a unified interpretation but, rather, focus on both specific and general topics, revisit and reinterpret well-known events, and underscore how cultural, political, and ideological antagonisms divided the native inhabitants from the newcomers. Together, these thoughtful analyses offer a broad historical perspective on nearly a century of contact, interaction, conflict, and displacement. the history of early America, the frontier, and cultural interaction.
