Download or read book Lattice Effects In High Tc Superconductors - Proceedings Of The Conference written by T Egami and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1992-12-21 with total page 622 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The focus of the workshop is the role of crystal lattices, i.e. atomic structure, phonons, lattice distortions, in the mechanism of high temperature superconductivity in oxides. In spite of the intense research effort during the last five years the mechanism of high temperature superconductivity still remains unknown. While earlier theories forcused primarily on the role of magnetic interaction, recent experimental results strongly suggest that anharmonic local atomic displacements, in particular those induced by charge carriers, are critically involved in creating high temperature superconductivity. In this workshop, experimentalists and theoreticians address this issue with the hope of stimulating real progress in this area.

Download or read book Electron-Phonon Interaction and Lattice Dynamics in High Tc Superconductors written by Zhang Han and published by World Scientific Publishing Company. This book was released on 2019 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Understanding the mechanism of the high-temperature superconductors has been a very important topic in condensed matter physics. Researchers have been trying to explain the role of electronphonon interaction (EPI) in cuprates. Some important properties of the cuprates could not be explained by conventional BCS theory. This book contains the experimental and theoretical studies on the EPI. The experimental part covers the results of angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES), isotopic effect, elastic neutron scattering study of electronphonon, lattice role and so on. The theoretical part covers the electronphonon, polaron and bipolaron, effect of lattice, fine structure in the tunnelling spectra of electron-doped cuprates, identification of the bulk pairing symmetry in high-temperature superconductors and effect of lattice. Students and researchers interested in high-temperature superconductors, especially the EPI in cuprates will find this title very useful.

Book Synopsis Theory of Fluctuations in Superconductors by : Anatoly Larkin
Download or read book Theory of Fluctuations in Superconductors written by Anatoly Larkin and published by OUP Oxford. This book was released on 2005-01-13 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a complete encyclopedia of superconducting fluctuations, summarising the last thirty-five years of work in the field. The first part of the book is devoted to an extended discussion of the Ginzburg-Landau phenomenology of fluctuations in its thermodynamical and time-dependent versions and its various applications. The second part deals with microscopic justification of the Ginzburg-Landau approach and presents the diagrammatic theory of fluctuations. The third part is devoted to a less-detailed review of the manifestation of fluctuations in observables: diamagnetism, magnetoconductivity, various tunneling characteristics, thermoelectricity, and NMR relaxation. The final chapters turn to the manifestation of fluctuations in unconventional superconducting systems: nanodrops, nanorings, Berezinsky-Kosterlitz-Thouless state, quantum phase transition between superconductor and insulator, and thermal and quantum fluctuations in weak superconducting systems. The book ends with a brief discussion on theories of high temperature superconductivity, where fluctuations appear as the possible protagonist of this exciting phenomenon.

Book Synopsis High-Tc Superconductors Based on FeAs Compounds by : Yuri Izyumov
Download or read book High-Tc Superconductors Based on FeAs Compounds written by Yuri Izyumov and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-11-11 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Physical properties and models of electronic structure are analyzed for a new class of high-TC superconductors which belong to iron-based layered compounds. Despite their variable chemical composition and differences in the crystal structure, these compounds possess similar physical characteristics, due to electron carriers in the FeAs layers and the interaction of these carriers with fluctuations of the magnetic order. A tremendous interest towards these materials is explained by the prospects of their practical use. In this monograph, a full picture of the formation of physical properties of these materials, in the context of existing theory models and electron structure studies, is given. The book is aimed at a broad circle of readers: physicists who study electronic properties of the FeAs compounds, chemists who synthesize them and specialists in the field of electronic structure calculations in solids. It is helpful not only to researchers active in the fields of superconductivity and magnetism, but also for graduate and postgraduate students and all those who would like to get acquaintained with this vivid area of the materials science.

Book Synopsis Advances in Superconductivity IV by : Hisao Hayakawa
Download or read book Advances in Superconductivity IV written by Hisao Hayakawa and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 1086 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Five years have passed since the breakthrough in the critical temperature for superconductors. During this period, many superconducting materials have been discovered and developed, and our knowledge of the physical and other properties of oxide superconductors has deepened through extensive and intensive research. This knowledge has advanced superconductivity science and technology from the initial questioning stage to a more developed but still uncertain second stage where research activity in superconductivity now overlaps with fields of application. Generally speaking, science resonates with technology. Science not only complements but also competes with or stimulates technology. New scientific knowledge has triggered the second technological research stage. Much progress has been made in the development of practical devices, encouraging the application of superconductors in areas such as human levitation, a high speed levitated bearing, large current transforming leads, and high frequency devices. This technological progress has increased our understanding of the science involved, such as flux pinning and dynamics, and anomalous long-range superconducting interactions. At this important stage, international cooperation and collaborative projects can effectively sustain aggressive research and development in order to advance superconductivity to the next stages. The ISS Symposium is expected to serve as a venue for increasing our knowledge of superconductivity and for exchanging visions for future research and applications, through the presentation and discus of the latest research results. These proceedings also aim to summarize sion annual progress in high-Tc superconductivity in all fields.
