Book excerpt: A raíz de la crisis financiera, la Comisión tomó medidas para estabilizar el sector bancario mediante el refuerzo del marco reglamentario y de supervisión, y mediante la creación de la Autoridad Bancaria Europea (ABE). La primera fiscalización del Tribunal en este ámbito evaluó si la Comisión y la Autoridad habían cumplido satisfactoriamente con sus responsabilidades en el establecimiento de nuevas disposiciones para la regulación y supervisión del sector bancario, y consideró qué experiencias podrían adquirirse para la supervisión bancaria en el marco del nuevo Mecanismo Único de Supervisión. El Tribunal llegó a la conclusión de que las acciones de la Comisión, incluida la creación de la ABE, constituían primeros pasos importantes para responder a la crisis financiera. Sin embargo, se detectaron algunas deficiencias en el funcionamiento de estas nuevas disposiciones por lo que respecta a la supervisión bancaria transfronteriza, la evaluación de la resistencia de los bancos de la UE y la promoción de la protección de los consumidores que son objeto de recomendaciones por parte del Tribunal.
