Book Synopsis La question interculturelle dans le travail social by : Gilles Verbunt
Download or read book La question interculturelle dans le travail social written by Gilles Verbunt and published by Editions La Découverte. This book was released on 2004 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Transnational Social Work and Social Welfare by : Beatrix Schwarzer
Download or read book Transnational Social Work and Social Welfare written by Beatrix Schwarzer and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-08-05 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The underlying frame of social work is the nation state, and it is from within the state that welfare strategies and social policies are devised and implemented. However, post-colonialism, globalisation, migration and the associated implications for human rights, social justice and social welfare policies contest the idea of a clearly defined space for social work and present new challenges for researchers and practitioners. Transnational Social Work and Social Welfare argues for the increased importance of the transnational perspective in social work theory and practice. The book challenges the idea of the nation state as a given entity and argues that globalization and an increasing number of people crossing borders must have an impact on the theories and strategies of social work. The international contributors are critical of a restricted focus on a geographically defined space and the impact on work with clients. With cases covering China, France, India, UK, Germany, Malaysia, Israel, Turkey, the book highlights the challenges as well as the opportunities this new perspective can open up for theories and strategies in social work. It will be of interest to students, researchers and social workers interested in migration, social care, poverty and cultural competency in health and social care.

Download or read book Global social work written by Carolyn Noble, and published by Sydney University Press. This book was released on 2014-06-30 with total page 394 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Global social work: crossing borders, blurring boundaries is a collection of ideas, debates and reflections on key issues concerning social work as a global profession, such as its theory, its curricula, its practice, its professional identity; its concern with human rights and social activism, and its future directions. Apart from emphasising the complexities of working and talking about social work across borders and cultures, the volume focuses on the curricula of social work programs from as many regions as possible to showcase what is being taught in various cultural, sociopolitical and regional contexts. Exploring the similarities and differences in social work education across many countries of the Americas, Asia, Europe and the Pacific, the book provides a reference point for moving the current social work discourse towards understanding the local and global context in its broader significance.
Book Synopsis Social work in XXI Century St. Challenges for academic and professional training. by : Concepción Nieto-Morales
Download or read book Social work in XXI Century St. Challenges for academic and professional training. written by Concepción Nieto-Morales and published by Dykinson. This book was released on 2018-08-03 with total page 398 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book that you hold in your hands or on the screen of any technological device is the result of the effort made by a group of professors with the collaboration of professionals in different universities and study centres in twenty-five countries. It is title is already revealing: Social Work in the 21st Century. It is remarkable the coordination of professors Concepción Nieto-Morales and Monica Solange De Martino Bermúdez for readers to know not only the curriculum of Social Work in each of the countries that appear, but also the profile of the student body and the identification and reflection on the challenges that the 21st century poses to the teaching of the profession, among other elements.Being a social worker in these times requires a previous awareness before starting the long road that begins with academic training and ends with the daily work linked to people who need help; they need us to help them to conquer their rights. There is something else. Social problems over the years seem not to change their name: homeless; drug addicts, minors... but we must know that the internal dynamics of these marginalized groups evolve over time. We must act according to today’s situation, with today’s schemes, otherwise the essence of social work will disappear.

This book was released on 2006-01-01 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Far from considering the integration problems faced by migrants to be the result of alleged «cultural incompatibility, the articles and conversations in this volume reflect on the combined effects of exclusion stemming from social policy and policy on immigration, employment and nationality. Furthermore, as «intercultural competencies developed in certain hospitals and schools have clearly shown, there are other, much more effective strategies for treating differences in a favourable light which make social rights more accessible to all. These alternative approaches can effectively help to foster social cohesion only if migrants themselves are committed to them, in particular as recognised political players in the European public arena.
