Book Synopsis Sí/pero no: La poesía de Bécquer by : Giannina Braschi
Download or read book Sí/pero no: La poesía de Bécquer written by Giannina Braschi and published by Costa-Amic Editores. This book was released on 2022-05-27 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis The Poetry of Luis Cernuda by : Neil Charles McKinlay
Download or read book The Poetry of Luis Cernuda written by Neil Charles McKinlay and published by Tamesis. This book was released on 1999 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A study of the work of the Spanish poet Luis Cernuda (1902-1963). The works of the twentieth-century Spanish poet Luis Cernuda (1902-1963) are characterised by their fragmentary and disunified nature, with a wide range of complexities and contradictions. Concentrating on the well-known La realidad y el deseo, Dr McKinlay considers the poems from the perspective of the widespread loss of faith in God, exploring the tension between Cernuda's perception of chaos and desire for order, which co-exist in dialectical opposition. NEIL C. MCKINLAY is college lecturer in Spanish at New College, Oxford.
Book Synopsis Instead of modernity by : Andrew Ginger
Download or read book Instead of modernity written by Andrew Ginger and published by Manchester University Press. This book was released on 2020-10-13 with total page 630 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book revisits the claim that a key dimension of cultural modernity – understood as a turn to the autonomy of the signs and the erasure of the 'face of man' - arose in the mid-nineteenth century. It presents an alternative to that obsession, focusing instead on the aesthetic appreciation of forms through which connections are realised across place and time. The book is one of few to offer a comparative approach to numerous major writers and artists of this period over diverse countries. Specifically, the comparative approach overcomes the constitutively ambiguous relation between the modern and the Hispanic. The Hispanic is often imagined as at once foundational for and excluded from the modern world. Its reincorporation into the story of the mid-century unsettles the notion of modernity. The book offers instead an experiment in writing, tracing commonalities across place and time, and drawing on mid-century expressions of such likenesses.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This goal allies her with poets from Spain's symbolist past, who acknowledge the insufficiency of language yet pursue elusive meaning. Canelo's poetry advances their struggle, since, through a method ecofeminist Carol Bigwood has called "nonlinguistic silent presencing," she is able to finesse an apparent fusion between nature and the word."--Jacket.
