El objetivo específico es el examen del proceso de sustitución lingüística a través de un estudio cualitativo y cuantitativo del impacto del anglicismo léxico en el español de América y de España. El análisis comparativo se ha verificado sobre textos periodísticos escritos en los Estados Unidos y en España. La situación estratégica del español en ambas orillas de Atlántico resulta un caso paradigmático para las restantes lenguas europeas y confiere al estudio de la sustitución lingüística una trascendencia de primer orden.
