Download or read book The Wisdom Codes written by Gregg Braden and published by Hay House, Inc. This book was released on 2021-05-04 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The cutting edge of neurolinguistics meets the spiritual wisdom of the ages in a handbook of key words that literally rewire our brains. New discoveries in biology and the neurosciences are revealing how the structure of language-the words we think and speak-can actually change the way the neurons in our brains and hearts connect. But our ancestors understood this connection intuitively, thousands of years ago. They created specific word-patterns to provide comfort, healing, strength, and inner power in difficult times, and they encoded these powerful words in prayers, chants, mantras, hymns, and sacred writings to preserve them for future generations. Now beloved teacher and thought leader Gregg Braden cracks the code and puts these powerful words in your hands. Perfect as a pocket guide, a reference for spiritual study, or a gift to someone you love, this elegant, compact book contains Wisdom Codes that cut to the core of life's greatest tests, most challenging demands, and hardest lessons. You'll find chapters devoted to healing from loss and grief, facing your unspoken fears, finding certainty in the face of uncertain choices, and finding forgiveness, as well as ancient parables that offer a "fast track" to unraveling life's deepest mysteries. Each Wisdom Code-distilled from a quote, a scripture passage, or a parable-is accompanied by a brief discussion of what the code means, why it's important, and how to apply it in your life.
Book Synopsis Your Code as a Crime Scene, Second Edition by : Adam Tornhill
Download or read book Your Code as a Crime Scene, Second Edition written by Adam Tornhill and published by Pragmatic Bookshelf. This book was released on 2024-02-01 with total page 437 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jack the Ripper and legacy codebases have more in common than you'd think. Inspired by forensic psychology methods, you can apply strategies to identify problems in your existing code, assess refactoring direction, and understand how your team influences the software architecture. With its unique blend of criminal psychology and code analysis, Your Code as a Crime Scene arms you with the techniques you need to take on any codebase, no matter what programming language you use. Software development might well be the most challenging task humanity ever attempted. As systems scale up, they also become increasingly complex, expensive to maintain, and difficult to reason about. We can always write more tests, try to refactor, and even fire up a debugger to understand complex coding constructs. That's a great starting point, but you can do so much better. Take inspiration from forensic psychology techniques to understand and improve existing code. Visualize codebases via a geographic profile from commit data to find development hotspots, prioritize technical debt, and uncover hidden dependencies. Get data and develop strategies to make the business case for larger refactorings. Detect and fix organizational problems from the vantage point of the software architecture to remove bottlenecks for the teams. The original Your Code as a Crime Scene from 2014 pioneered techniques for understanding the intersection of people and code. This new edition reflects a decade of additional experience from hundreds of projects. Updated techniques, novel case studies, and extensive new material adds to the strengths of this cult classic. Change how you view software development and join the hunt for better code! What You Need: You need to be comfortable reading code. You also need to use Git (or Subversion, Mercurial or similar version-control tool).
Book Synopsis C++ Coding Standards by : Herb Sutter
Download or read book C++ Coding Standards written by Herb Sutter and published by Pearson Education. This book was released on 2004-10-25 with total page 489 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Consistent, high-quality coding standards improve software quality, reduce time-to-market, promote teamwork, eliminate time wasted on inconsequential matters, and simplify maintenance. Now, two of the world's most respected C++ experts distill the rich collective experience of the global C++ community into a set of coding standards that every developer and development team can understand and use as a basis for their own coding standards. The authors cover virtually every facet of C++ programming: design and coding style, functions, operators, class design, inheritance, construction/destruction, copying, assignment, namespaces, modules, templates, genericity, exceptions, STL containers and algorithms, and more. Each standard is described concisely, with practical examples. From type definition to error handling, this book presents C++ best practices, including some that have only recently been identified and standardized-techniques you may not know even if you've used C++ for years. Along the way, you'll find answers to questions like What's worth standardizing--and what isn't? What are the best ways to code for scalability? What are the elements of a rational error handling policy? How (and why) do you avoid unnecessary initialization, cyclic, and definitional dependencies? When (and how) should you use static and dynamic polymorphism together? How do you practice "safe" overriding? When should you provide a no-fail swap? Why and how should you prevent exceptions from propagating across module boundaries? Why shouldn't you write namespace declarations or directives in a header file? Why should you use STL vector and string instead of arrays? How do you choose the right STL search or sort algorithm? What rules should you follow to ensure type-safe code? Whether you're working alone or with others, C++ Coding Standards will help you write cleaner code--and write it faster, with fewer hassles and less frustration.

Book Synopsis What Can She Know? by : Lorraine Code
Download or read book What Can She Know? written by Lorraine Code and published by Cornell University Press. This book was released on 2018-09-05 with total page 367 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this lively and accessible book Lorraine Code addresses one of the most controversial questions in contemporary theory of knowledge, a question of fundamental concern for feminist theory as well: Is the sex of the knower epistemologically significant? Responding in the affirmative, Code offers a radical alterantive to mainstream philosophy's terms for what counts as knowledge and how it is to be evaluated. Code first reviews the literature of established epistemologies and unmasks the prevailing assumption in Anglo-American philosophy that "the knower" is a value-free and ideologically neutral abstraction. Approaching knowledge as a social construct produced and validated through critical dialogue, she defines the knower in light of a conception of subjectivity based on a personal relational model. Code maps out the relevance of the particular people involved in knowing: their historical specificity, the kinds of relationships they have, the effects of social position and power on those relationships, and the ways in which knowledge can change both knower and known. In an exploration of the politics of knowledge that mainstream epistemologies sustain, she examines such issues as the function of knowledge in shaping institutions and the unequal distribution of cognitive resources. What Can She Know? will raise the level of debate concerning epistemological issues among philosophers, political and social scientists, and anyone interested in feminist theory.

Book Synopsis United States Code by : United States
Download or read book United States Code written by United States and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 1146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The United States Code is the official codification of the general and permanent laws of the United States of America. The Code was first published in 1926, and a new edition of the code has been published every six years since 1934. The 2012 edition of the Code incorporates laws enacted through the One Hundred Twelfth Congress, Second Session, the last of which was signed by the President on January 15, 2013. It does not include laws of the One Hundred Thirteenth Congress, First Session, enacted between January 2, 2013, the date it convened, and January 15, 2013. By statutory authority this edition may be cited "U.S.C. 2012 ed." As adopted in 1926, the Code established prima facie the general and permanent laws of the United States. The underlying statutes reprinted in the Code remained in effect and controlled over the Code in case of any discrepancy. In 1947, Congress began enacting individual titles of the Code into positive law. When a title is enacted into positive law, the underlying statutes are repealed and the title then becomes legal evidence of the law. Currently, 26 of the 51 titles in the Code have been so enacted. These are identified in the table of titles near the beginning of each volume. The Law Revision Counsel of the House of Representatives continues to prepare legislation pursuant to 2 U.S.C. 285b to enact the remainder of the Code, on a title-by-title basis, into positive law. The 2012 edition of the Code was prepared and published under the supervision of Ralph V. Seep, Law Revision Counsel. Grateful acknowledgment is made of the contributions by all who helped in this work, particularly the staffs of the Office of the Law Revision Counsel and the Government Printing Office"--Preface.

Book Synopsis My selected essays from Medium on Computer programming by : Jorge Guerra Pires
Download or read book My selected essays from Medium on Computer programming written by Jorge Guerra Pires and published by Jorge Guerra Pires. This book was released on 2021-12-29 with total page 91 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “I want thinkers, not followers!” Internet, social media in general, has this nice feature of making possible for anyone to spread their ideas, as said an online influencer, on TED Talks, “everyone has an opinion”, “does everyone has something interesting to say?” Medium is a website dedicated to independent writers, mainly, like myself. Anyone can write to Medium, there is no curation or selection. Publications are “small organizations” that select those articles: this is the counterpart of conventional/traditional publication systems. In addition to independent writings, I also write to the Publications: Geek Culture, Data Driven Investor, and JavaScript in Plain English. Some articles here were firstly published independently, and after that, either invited or submitted to a publication, or kept as standalone article. What is the best way to use this e-book? The e-book was designed to be read: it does not focus on anything. Some parts are tutorial/hands-on sections, but most of the book is for learning things superficially. General topic: computer programming. More specific topics: Angular; JavaScript; TensorFlow.js Deep learning; Artificial Neural Networks; Computer programming With this e-book, I hope Give my readers an opportunity to support my online work on a gain-gain gesture; Concentrate more on content quality less than view, catchers and so on; Some advantage of the e-book, compared to Medium All the articles reviewed, grammar checked, and more; Several topics curated for you; No distractions, as you read; Extra articles, exclusive for the e-book readers; Exclusive discussions, should you want to talk; How to read this e-book? Even though I have selected the essays, using coding as center, the writings may still be dispersed, wide-ranging. Therefore, this e-book can be nice for reading, with the hope to learn something new. I would imagine that each chapter may call the attention of different people, not all of them at once. The book can be nice as well to keep around, give a first read, and from time to time, should you need, just come back! I would read the book randomly, at first, and keep it around: for me, when I am solving problems, those readings start to come up in my mind, and helps to be creative on my solutions! Grab your copy on Amazon and start to expand your brain!
