Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The past 25 years in chemical kinetics have seen major advances in studyiqg the mechanisms of complex chemical re actions, in particular free radical reactions. Many differ ent methods have been developed for quantitative studies of elementary chemical reactions. Thousands of rate constants have been measured, for hundreds of diverse chemical reac tions. It is becoming more and more difficult for the chemist to orient himself in the voluminous and rapidly growing liter ature of chemical reaction kinetics. This leads to major expenditures of time in searching out, collecting. and eval uating quantitative kinetic data; to unnecessary repetition (duplication) of research; and to a situation in which the rich material already accumulated in the field of chemical kinetics is very often not fully utilized in comparing, interpreting, and analyzing new experimental data. There is a pressing need for the creation of a series of handbooks on reaction rate constants. Such work was begun several years ago at the initiative of V. N. Kondrat'ev, and is now going forward under his direction at the Institute of Chemical Physics of the USSR Academy of Sciences. This book is devoted to liquid-phase, homolytic reactions. Part One contains data on monomolecular reactions in which molecules decompose to form radicals, as well as data on bi molecular and trimolecular reactions that form free radicals.

Book Synopsis The Chemical Dynamics and Kinetics of Small Radicals by : Kopin Liu
Download or read book The Chemical Dynamics and Kinetics of Small Radicals written by Kopin Liu and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1995 with total page 488 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book highlights recent progress in the chemistry of radicals. Developments include the growing use of lasers to generate radicals, the application of lasers to provide state, angular, polarization, energy and real-time resolution in kinetics and dynamics experiments, the development of theories for handling the reactions of radicals, and the simulation of the reaction dynamics of increasingly larger systems for direct comparison to experimental results. The book emphasizes the increasing interaction between experimental dynamics, kinetics and theory. It is appropriate for chemistry graduate students and researchers about to enter the field. However, the discussions of some topics progress to a more advanced level so that even an expert will find the book useful.
Book Synopsis Handbook of Free Radical Initiators by : E. T. Denisov

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Free radical initiators–chemical molecules which easily decompose into free radicals–serve as reactive intermediates in synthetic methodologies such as organic and polymer synthesis as well as in technological processes, oligomerization, network formation, and kinetic research. The Handbook of Free Radical Initiators presents an up-to-date account of the physicochemical data on radical initiators and reactions of radical generation. Individual chapters include: Dialkyl Peroxides and Hydroperoxides Diacyl Peroxides, Peresters, and Organic Polyoxides Azo-Compounds Bimolecular Reactions of Free Radical Generation by Ozone, Dioxygen, Hydroperoxides, and Haloid Molecules Free Radical Abstraction Reactions Free Radical Addition Reactions Free Radical Recombination and Disproportoination Reactions Professionals and academic researchers in chemical engineering, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, plastics, and rubbers will find the Handbook of Free Radical Initiators to be a distinguished, vital resource.

Download or read book Food Antioxidants written by B. J. Hudson and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 325 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Antioxidants are present naturally in virtually all food commodities, providing them with a valuable degree of protection against oxidative attack. When food commodities are subjected to processing, such natural antioxidants are often depleted, whether physically, from the nature of the process itself, or by chemical degradation. In conse quence, processed food products usually keep less well than do the commodities from which they originated. Ideally, food producers would like them to keep better. This objective can often be achieved by blending natural products rich in antioxidants with processed foods, or by using well recognised antioxidants as food additives. In order to understand their action, and hence to apply antioxidants intelligently in food product formulation, some knowledge of the mechanisms by which they function is necessary. This is complex and of antioxidative may rely on one or more of several alternative forms intervention. Accordingly, the various mechanisms that may be relevant are discussed in Chapter 1, in each case including the 'intervention' mechanism. When present in, or added to, foods antioxidants are functional in very small quantities, typically, perhaps, at levels of 0·01 % or less.
