Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. To problematiko uvajata prispevka o estetski normiranosti in posebej o zgodnjebaročni problematiki (M. Bergamo, B. Bujič). Teme osrednjega dela zbornika segajo od razvojnih značilnosti baročnega obdobja s periodizacijo (I. Klemenčič) do ustvarjalnih prispevkov posameznih skladateljev (M. Kokole, B. Šinigoj, T. Faganel). Posebej je osvetljena problematika glasbenega poustvarjanja (J. Sivec, K. Bedina, E. Škulj). Interdisciplinarni vidik zajema področji slovenske literature in umetnostne zgodovine (J. Faganel, D. Prelovšek), mednarodni sega zlasti k bližnjim srednjeevropskim glasbenim kulturam (R. Flotzinger, J. Sehnal, K. Kos, S. Tuksar).

Book excerpt: Consisting of 12 chapters, the book presents the rise and development of environmentalism, environmental history as a discipline, and the history of environmental movements in the Central and South Eastern European region from an international point of view. The chapters—written by scholars from Italy, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Slovakia, Romania, Serbia, Greece and Turkey—cover a wide range of topics including the creation of protected areas, increasing environmental consciousness, the evolution of humanity’s relationship toward the environment, and perceptions of environmentalism by different disciplines. This international approach highlights the region’s complex development from the end of the eighteenth century through the twentieth century, with its unique blend of traditions. Three historically different traditions—the Habsburg, Ottoman and Venetian—converge in Central and South Eastern Europe, and this book emphasizes the subtleties of these sometimes intertwined traditions. The focus of the book varies according to both the different geographical environments characteristic of the region and the protagonists who actively participated in changing relationships toward the environment. However, what does not vary and is common to all the chapters is the historical approach, since the process has continuity, which the book accentuates. In geographical terms, the region that is the focus of the book, Central and South Eastern Europe, is the contact zone of the Alps, Danube, Adriatic and partially the North Eastern Mediterranean Sea. Throughout history, it was also the contact zone of the Habsburg, Ottoman and Venetian traditions. Those realities have resulted in a unique blending and intertwining of traditions and, therefore, relationships with and perceptions of the environment.

Book excerpt: Balkan Blues explores how a state transitions from the collectivized production and distribution of socialism to the consumer-focused culture of capitalism. Yuson Jung considers the state as an economic agent in upholding rights and responsibilities in the shift to a global market. Taking Bulgaria as her focus, Jung shows how impoverished Bulgarians developed a consumer-oriented society and how the concept of "need" adapted in surprising ways to accommodate this new culture. Different legal frameworks arose to ensure the rights of vulnerable or deceived consumers. Consumer advocacy NGOs and government officers scrambled to navigate unfamiliar EU-imposed models for consumer affairs departments. All of these changes involved issues of responsibility, accountability, and civic engagement, which brought Bulgarians new ways of viewing both their identities and their sense of agency. Yet these opportunities also raised questions of inequality, injustice, and social stratification. Jung's study provides a compelling argument for reconsidering of the role of the state in the construction of 21st-century consumer cultures.

This book was released on 2020-01-01 with total page 393 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Z namenom pripraviti celostno objavo vsega dostopnega gradiva antropološko gradivo predstavljamo v ločenem poglavju (Leben Seljak). V zaključku knjige predstavljamo izsledke izkopavanj pri Bodeščah (Modrijan). Predstavitvi arheoloških izsledkov o Blejskem otoku sledi širok pregled fenomena mitične pokrajine, njene izvedbe v blejskem kotu ter umesti Blejski otok v njen kontekst (Pleterski). Napovedni model potrdi njen obstoj z izkopavanji v Bodeščah.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Three of the most original thinkers of our time explore issues that call into question our current views of reality, morality, and the nature of life. • A wide-ranging investigation of the ecology of inner and outer space, the role of chaos theory in the dynamics of human creation, and the rediscovery of traditional wisdom. In this book of "trialogues," the late psychedelic visionary and shamanologist Terence McKenna, acclaimed biologist and originator of the morphogenetic fields theory Rupert Sheldrake, and mathematician and chaos theory scientist Ralph Abraham explore the relationships between chaos and creativity and their connection to cosmic consciousness. Their observations call into question our current views of reality, morality, and the nature of life in the universe. The authors challenge the reader to the deepest levels of thought with wide-ranging investigations of the ecology of inner and outer space, the role of chaos in the dynamics of human creation, and the resacralization of the world. Among the provocative questions the authors raise are: Is Armageddon a self-fulfilling prophecy? Are we humans the imaginers or the imagined? Are the eternal laws of nature still evolving? What is the connection between physical light and the light of consciousness? Part ceremony, part old-fashioned intellectual discussion, these trialogues are an invitation to a new understanding of what Jean Houston calls "the dreamscapes of our everyday waking life."

Book excerpt: This volume interrogates the implications of the persistence of nationalisms and newer, ethnic-religious identities for the emergence of a robust European identity. The collected essays intersect and are informed by the streams of scholarship on: contemporary ethnonationalism; the challenges associated with immigrant, particularly Muslim immigrant, incorporation; and the so-called new nationalism, including the illiberal ideas and policies promoted by extreme right political parties and groups.
