Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is every family's worst nightmare. It is the Story of how a healthy five-month-old baby was reduced to a vegetative state by a medical procedure that the public authorities and the medical profession have refused to accept was in any way responsible. Alan Duffy was brain damaged following the whooping cough vaccine and lived until he was a skeletal and helpless 22 year old. He died on New Year's Eve, 1995. Justice for My Son tells of how Alan's mother, Vera, patiently and laboriously acquired the knowledge and the evidence over many years, evidence she believes many eminent medical people and the government of the day suppressed. It is evidence of a link between the vaccine and what happened to Alan and exposes a kind of 'Russian Roulette' accepted by vaccination programmes. In fact the Dublin City Coroner used his own department funds to make an appeal on Vera's behalf to the Supreme Court when he failed to get the government to indemnify him. By this unprecedented action, he demonstrated his belief of where the truth of the matter lies. This fight won't bring Alan back. But his mother will not give up until she finally gets justice for her son.

In this candid and deeply moving memoir, a quintessential American tale of hardship and grit, Clarence Thomas recounts his astonishing journey for the first time.

One key way, says Cindy Wang Brandt, is by learning to raise our children with justice, mercy, and kindness. In Parenting Forward Brandt equips Christian parents to model a way of following Jesus that has an outward focus, putting priority on loving others, avoiding judgment, and helping those in need. She shows how parents must work on dismantling their own racial, cultural, gender, economic, and religious biases in order to avoid passing them on to their children. “By becoming aware of the complex ways we participate in systems of inequality or hierarchy,” she says, “we begin to resist systemic injustice ourselves, empower our children, and change our communities.”

Winner of the Schneider Family Book Award! Feeling different, especially as a kid, can be tough. But in the same way that different types of plants and flowers make a garden more beautiful and enjoyable, different types of people make our world more vibrant and wonderful. In Just Ask, United States Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor celebrates the different abilities kids (and people of all ages) have. Using her own experience as a child who was diagnosed with diabetes, Justice Sotomayor writes about children with all sorts of challenges--and looks at the special powers those kids have as well. As the kids work together to build a community garden, asking questions of each other along the way, this book encourages readers to do the same: When we come across someone who is different from us but we're not sure why, all we have to do is Just Ask. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It doesn’t take a long list of statistics to convince you that our world is broken. Mission trips, service projects, and supporting children through relief organizations are just a few of the ways that many youth workers engage their students in serving the least, the last, and the lost. As good and helpful as these things may be on the surface, that’s where they remain—at the surface. The problems run far deeper than an occasional paint job or fundraising project can solve. But it’s not hopeless. Deep social justice is possible in your youth ministry.Following their bestselling book, Deep Ministry in a Shallow World, Kara Powell and Chap Clark provide you with research and insights that will help your ministry get to the next level. In addition to helping you further understand the Deep Design method (introduced in their previous book), their practical Kingdom of God theology will help you go beyond simply trying to motivate your students to serve those in need, and invite your students (and maybe even your leaders) to wrestle with why those people are in need in the first place. You’ll hear from well-known social justice leaders and youth workers who are making a difference in urban, suburban, and small town settings including:• Jim Wallis (Sojourners)• Tony Campolo (Eastern University)• Lina Thompson (World Vision/Vision Youth)• John Perkins (Christian Community Development Association)• Shane Claiborne (The Simple Way)• Larry Acosta (Urban Youth Workers Institute)• Rudy Carrasco (Harambee Christian Family Center)• Jeremy Del Rio (Community Solutions, Inc.)• Noel Castellanos (Christian Community Development Association), and more In addition to expanding your personal justice commitments, Deep Justice in a Broken World will help you reflect with your own leadership team, and will provide you with online resources to take you even deeper into the journey. So go ahead, dig deeper into what it means to heal the broken world in which we live. Take your ministry deeper into social justice.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about a woman who had come to America from Kashmir India. She had no knowledge about American culture or American Justice System. She was married in India and her husband brought her to America. In America her husband started abusing her. Being culturally abound, she kept taking abuse on daily basis and kept lying about her bruises and cuts to those who were asking her questions about her injuries. Abuse got worst to the extent that one day her husband tried to kill her. She gained her consciousness after couple of hours when her husband decided to dump her body in the park. Somehow in the morning she managed to escape with her two children. She went to a woman's shelter where she lived for six months. In the shelter they insisted that she had to go to the court to get restraining order for her safety. In that process, her children were taken by the court and were given to that abusive man from whom they had a narrow escape. She was forced to pay child support when she had not taken even a one cent from her home or from her husband after she left. Her two children were given to their father because she was going to school. Judge punished her and her two children for trying to establish their life. Her Children suffered the most because of the Justice System. I wrote this book for two reasons One reason is to tell my children especially my son that I am very sorry for taking my case to American Justice System because his father has kept him in fear. Even my son is adult now but his father is still treating my son like he was treating me and my son is kept in a lot of fear, stress and extreme tension. His father didn't let him complete his education. If he had encouraged my son to complete his education, then he wouldn't be able to control my son's life. That is tearing my heart every day. And second reason is that I want to help a Battered Woman and their children by telling them my story. I was a very private person but that didn't help me. Every battered woman of this country should know that when a man hit his wife is not love. It is a danger sign figure out on time about safety zones for self and for children. My story will guide them to be strong enough to help their children.

Book excerpt: Presumption of Guilt analyses criminal prosecutions that spawned the notorious “kids for cash” scandal. Although a juvenile judge freely admitted committing fraud in failing to properly account for millions of dollars, prosecutors insisted he had accepted that money in exchange for jailing juveniles. These heinous allegations were presumed to be true, resulting in widespread hysteria. Incredibly, after creating the scandal, prosecutors failed to produce evidence it had ever happened at the judge’s trial. Unfortunately for the judge, by that time “kids for cash” was so ingrained in the public’s conscience that the lack of its proof was meaningless.

Book excerpt: This book explores important current social justice issues that confront young children in America. A broad range of topics related to the fair treatment of young children and their families are approached with a fresh and hopeful energy. The central argument of this volume is that a fair and just society must protect the basic needs of all children so they are able to reach their full potential to learn, grow, and ultimately become productive democratic citizens. The book includes contributions from an impressive group of authors who have been consistent voices for the fair and equitable treatment of children in school and society. Each chapter examines a critical issue in child social justice with a focus on the current problem, historical importance of the issue, potential solutions, and a vision for the future. The book has been developed to reach a wide audience of professionals whose work involves children and who have grown concerned about social forces that cause child suffering and threaten the well-being or even the survival of children in the United States. Readers will come away with up to date information and a renewed commitment to being life-long advocates for children.

Book excerpt: The law says be honest, truthful and faithful and treat everyone equally. But what does the law say when professional people start taking the laws into their own hands and playing with the justice system to use and abuse it with lies? When they deny the truth, lie and add false information to statements in order to ruin a person s reputation what does the law say then? Is there any justice? I was a victim of this. My only crime was my honesty. My son was a victim of bullying at school and no one considered the impact this had on him. Everything was denied and lies were added to the minutes of the meeting I attended. In a monstrous cover-up, all departments sided together. Meetings were scheduled by these departments and falsehoods drawn up against me. I was framed to look culpable. This is the true account of how my son and I experienced bullying at school and of the subsequent consequences. Islamic Law covers the giving of false testimonies, or bearing false witness. The messenger of God (peace be upon him) said: Shall I not inform you of the greatest of sins bearing false witness. The bearer of false witness commits several sins. They are as follows: a) The spreading of lies. Truly, God does not guide one who commits great sins one who is an oppressor, a transgressor, or a liar. b) A miscarriage of justice is committed against any person who has to bear false testimony, because its result means that the person is either deprived of property, honour, or his life. c) Conversely, it is unjust to the person favoured by false testimony because it allows them to acquire property unlawfully, thereby rendering them a sinner. d) The person delivering these untruths is unjust to himself by being the one to bear false witness. Lying represents an evil tongue. Indeed those who fabricate lies upon God are those who disbelieve in His teachings and His signs. It is they who are truly liars. The messenger of God said truth guides to righteousness, and righteousness leads to heaven. A person will evolve within truth until written with God as truthful. Lying leads to immorality which in turn leads to hell. A person will lie until written with God as a liar. A hypocrite (described to us by the Prophet) is one that lies as he speaks. An honest person has an answer to each lie levelled against them. And they will also admit to the honesty of a mistake. An honest person does not need to supply proof of their truthfulness it shows on their face. It is liars that look for proof to make their words appear true.
