Ein 16-jähriger Realschüler erschießt 2000 den Schulleiter seiner Schule, schießt sich danach selbst in den Kopf und liegt seitdem im Koma. 2002 tötet der Gymnasiast Robert Steinhäuser in Erfurt 16 Menschen, darunter ein Polizist, Schüler1 und Schulpersonal. Danach richtet er sich selbst. Aufgrund dieser erschreckenden Taten wird vielerorts davon gesprochen, wir hätten in Deutschland bereits amerikanische Verhältnisse was die Jugendgewalt betrifft. Trotzdem spricht der ehemalige Bundeskanzler Gerhard Schröder 2002 nach dem Amoklauf von Erfurt von einem schrecklichen, aber singulären Verbrechen. Im November dieses Jahres gibt die Bundesregierung den Sicherheitsbericht 2006 heraus, in dem festgestellt wird, Deutschland ist eines der sichersten Länder, die Jugendgewalt nicht steigend und seit den 1990er Jahren ist ein zunehmendes Sicherheitsgefühl der deutschen Bürger zu beobachten. Kurz nach Erscheinen dieses Berichtes, begeht Sebastian B. einen Amoklauf in Emsdetten, bei dem er mehrere Leute verletzt und schließlich sich selbst umbringt. Immer, wenn die Gesellschaft durch derlei Verbrechen aufgerüttelt wird, folgen stets Debatten, um das Phänomen Jugendgewalt. So zahlreich diese Debatten über Jugend und Gewalt sind, so zahlreich sind auch die Auffassungen darüber, was Gewalt und Aggression ist. Um klar zu machen, auf welche Definition sich in dieser Arbeit bezogen wird, wird zunächst eine Eruierung der beiden Begriffe vorgenommen. Mit Hilfe von Thesen befasst sich die vorliegende Arbeit dann mit den Fragen, ob eher Jungen oder Mädchen gewaltbereit sind, ob es einen Unterschied zwischen der Gewaltbereitschaft von deutschen und nichtdeutschen Jugendlichen gibt und ob man von einem Anstieg der Jugendgewalt sprechen kann. In den folgenden Thesen werden die Gründe herausgearbeitet, die Kinder und Jugendliche dazu veranlassen können, Gewalt anzuwenden. Hurrelmann spricht sich in einem Zeitungsbericht dafür aus, dass jede Schule zwei bis drei spezialisierte Beratungslehrer haben sollte, damit schon eingegriffen werden kann, bevor es zu solch schrecklichen Vorfällen wie in Erfurt oder Emsdetten kommen kann. Daher befasst sich der abschließende Abschnitt der Arbeit mit Handlungskonzepten und Präventionsprogrammen, die in Elternhaus und Schule angewendet werden können, um Jugendgewalt entgegen zu wirken.

Dieses Zitat verweist darauf, dass die Gewalt bei jungen Menschen schon seit langer Zeit ein Problem in unserer Gesellschaft darstellt. Passend dazu zeigen aktuelle Statistiken, dass dieses Problem auch heutzutage noch nicht behoben ist, denn einer Übersicht über die Belastungszahlen der deutschen tatverdächtigen jungen Menschen (14 bis unter 18 Jahre) zufolge lässt sich zwischen den Jahren 2000 und 2008 ein stetiger Anstieg der Zahlen feststellen. Dabei erreichen die Zahlen in 2008 mit circa 1100 pro 100.000 Tatverdächtigen ihren höchsten Punkt. Durch eine statistische Umstellung (bundeslandübergreifende Echttäterzählung) werden seit 2009 recht seltene Doppelzählungen ausgeschlossen, was zu einer leichten Senkung der Zahlen führt. Sowohl das Zitat nach Shakespeare, als auch die Statistik der Tatverdächtigenbelastungszahlen macht auf das gesellschaftliche Problem der Gewalt unter Jugendlichen und die damit einhergehende Notwendigkeit der Sozialen Arbeit im Bereich der Kinder- und Jugendhilfe aufmerksam. Basierend auf diesen Ausführungen beschäftigt sich diese wissenschaftliche Arbeit mit der Gewalt bei Jugendlichen und der Frage, inwiefern die von Maria Montessori begründete Montessori-Pädagogik der Entstehung von Jugendgewalt präventiv entgegenwirken kann. Die Hausarbeit lässt sich in drei Teile gliedern: Zunächst wird eine allgemeine Definition der Gewalt vorgestellt. Daraufhin wird zur Ursachenbestimmung der Gewaltentstehung zum einen das ökologische Modell zur Jugendgewalt und zum anderen ein geschlechtsspezifischer Ansatz nach Joachim Kersten und ein psychoanalytischer Ansatz nach Udo Rauchfleisch genutzt. Im zweiten Teil dieser Hausarbeit wird der Werdegang der italienischen Ärztin Maria Montessori sowie die von ihr begründete Montessori-Pädagogik skizziert. Zuletzt wird basierend auf einer Pro- und Kontra-Liste ein Fazit darüber erstellt, ob und was die Montessori-Pädagogik im Hinblick auf die Prävention der Gewaltentstehung im Jugendalter leisten kann.

Gleichzeitig befasst sie sich mit dem Ablauf der Gewalttanwendung an sich; was muss passieren, damit man Gewalt als Lösungsmittel benutzt, was geschieht während der Anwendung. Ebenso gibt diese Hausarbeit einen Überblick über verschiedene Methoden und Pädagogische Konzepte, um der Gewalt vorzubeugen. In beiden Aspekten werden verschiedenen ausgewählte Lebensbereiche Jugendlicher betrachtet. An diese Arbeit wurde wissenschaftlich herangegangen. Sie stellt eine Zusammenfassung verschiedener Forscher dieses Themengebiets dar. Traditional geopolitical analysis is transformed into a critical device for interrogating hegemonic geopolitics after the Cold War, and is employed in the service of reconsidering discourses of danger that include "failed states," disconnection, and terrorist networks. Looking anew at the "war on terror"; the development and application of U.S. policy; the construction and demonization of rogue states; events in Lebanon, Somalia, and Pakistan; and the wars continuing in Afghanistan and Iraq, Terror and Territory demonstrates how a critical geographical analysis, informed by political theory and history, can offer an urgently needed perspective on world events.
