Book Synopsis Intercession That Breaks The Sound Barrier by : Birdella A. Tucker
Download or read book Intercession That Breaks The Sound Barrier written by Birdella A. Tucker and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2010-04-27 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Our sins have made a barrier between God and us (Isaiah 59:2). Sins leave us without the knowledge of what true peace is and what it means to act justly before God. Because of this, we stay in darkness, even though Jesus is the Light. In the darkness we grope like blind men and stumble in broad daylight. We moan and groan for the blessings of God, but our sins testify against us. Sin is disobedience to God. Even though Jesus died for these sins, if we remain in them, then we reject the Light. Our rejection of the Light is what causes the barriers between us and God. This book, Intercession That Breaks the Sound Barrier, gives several instances of what Jesus says invites the darkness and the redemptive voice that breaks them. Sounding the sounds of intercession is like putting on the robe of vengeance as armor. It is putting on the work of Jesus Himself to glorify God our Father. It is reverence for God in the name of God--it is Jehovah's breath. "And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, 'Receive ye the Holy Ghost: Whosesoever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whosesoever sins ye retain, they are retained" (John 20:22-23). It would be a mistake to speak of any earthly author for this book. It was written only as the breath of Jehovah breathed, and not of man's ability. To Him be all the glory and praise. Amen

Download or read book Radical Happiness written by Lynne Segal and published by Verso Books. This book was released on 2017-12-05 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A passionate call to rediscover the political and emotional joy that emerges when we share our lives In an era of increasing individualism, we have never been more isolated and dispirited. A paradox confronts us. While research and technology find new ways to measure contentment and popular culture encourages us to think of happiness as a human right, misery is abundant. Segal believes we have lost the art of “radical happiness”—the liberation that comes with transformative, collective joy. She argues that instead of obsessing about our own well-being we should seek fulfilment in the lives of others. Examining her own experience in the women’s movement, Segal looks at the relationship between love and sex, and the scope for utopian thinking as a means to a better future. She also shows how the gaps in care that come from the diminishing role of the welfare state must be replaced by alternative ways of living together and looking after one another. In this brilliant and provocative book, Segal proposes that the power of true happiness can only be discovered collectively.
Book Synopsis When the World Breaks Open by : Seema Reza
Download or read book When the World Breaks Open written by Seema Reza and published by Red Hen Press. This book was released on 2016-03-08 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A poet’s story of healing herself, working with wounded veterans, and learning that silence does not equal strength, written “with self-lacerating honesty” (Kirkus Reviews). In this poignant and unabashed self-examination, Seema Reza uncovers the lessons she learned through motherhood and a dysfunctional and abusive marriage, and how she used her discoveries to make a meaningful difference in the world. This lyrical, non-linear narrative memoir traces Reza’s journey from repressed suburban housewife to coordinator of a unique creative-expression military hospital program. Through observing her own experiences from the darkest moments of her life and investigating societal attitudes towards loss, love, motherhood, and community, Reza exposes her triumphs, weaknesses, fears, and regrets, and undermines the idea that strength requires silence. “Lyrical . . . powerful . . . It is her self-reflection which empowers this memoir; her responsibility to take action for herself and not to languish as she was.” —Entropy Literature Review

Book Synopsis The Gift of New Hope - Large Print by : Christopher L. Webber
Download or read book The Gift of New Hope - Large Print written by Christopher L. Webber and published by Abingdon Press. This book was released on 2015-09-15 with total page 94 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Gift of New Hope invites you to explore our yearning for God's presence through a study of the lectionary Bible readings for Advent and Christmas. Each week's scriptures call us to praise God as we actively await the coming of Christ and prepare our hearts and lives for his arrival. Through the readings, we hear the invitation to claim and celebrate the new hope we have in Jesus Christ. The season of Advent offers opportunities to prepare for God’s coming in human form in the infant Jesus and for the fulfillment of God’s kingdom with the second coming of Christ. Hope is the focus of Advent worship, study, and prayer. We will discover the light that began in the manger, which continues as we look forward with hope to Christ's return. The Gift of New Hope is based on the Revised Common Lectionary scriptures for church year C, the third of a three-year cycle of Bible readings. The study includes commentary and reflection on readings from the Old Testament, the Gospels, and the Epistles. It offers the opportunity to explore these Bible readings in a five-session study. It will help participants understand, appreciate, and engage in meaningful and joyous celebrations of Advent and Christmas and to live each day in God's hope through Jesus Christ.

Book Synopsis Summa Theologica, Volume 2 (Part II, First Section) by : St Thomas Aquinas
Download or read book Summa Theologica, Volume 2 (Part II, First Section) written by St Thomas Aquinas and published by Cosimo, Inc.. This book was released on 2007-05-01 with total page 593 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Summa Theologica is the best-known work of Italian philosopher, scholar, and Dominican friar SAINT THOMAS AQUINAS (1225 1274), widely considered the Catholic Church s greatest theologian. Famously consulted (immediately after the Bible) on religious questions at the Council of Trent, Aquinas s masterpiece has been considered a summary of official Church philosophy ever since. Aquinas considers approximately 10,000 questions on Church doctrine covering the roles and nature of God, man, and Jesus, then lays out objections to Church teachings and systematically confronts each, using Biblical verses, theologians, and philosophers to bolster his arguments. In Volume II, Aquinas addresses: happiness good and evil love and hatred hope and despair anger virtue sin and grace and much more. This massive work of scholarship, spanning five volumes, addresses just about every possible query or argument that any believer or atheist could have, and remains essential, more than seven hundred years after it was written, for clergy, religious historians, and serious students of Catholic thought."
