Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A sparkling debut novel set in the sixties about a boy's emotional and fantastical journey through alien worlds and family pain. Against the backdrop of the troubled 1960s, this coming-of-age novel weaves together a compelling psychological drama and vivid outer-space fantasy. Danny Shapiro is an isolated teenager, living with a dying mother and a hostile father and without friends. To cope with these circumstances, Danny forges a reality of his own, which includes the sinister "Three Men in Black", mysterious lake creatures with insectlike carapaces, a beautiful young seductress and thief with whom Danny falls in love, and an alien/human love child who-if only Danny can keep her alive-will redeem the planet. Danny's fictional world blends so seamlessly with his day-to-day life that profound questions about what is real and what is not, what is possible and what is imagined begin to arise. As the hero in his alien landscape, he finds the strength to deal with his own life and to stand up to demons both real and imagined. Told with heart and intellect, Journal of a UFO Investigator will remind readers of the works of Michael Chabon and Jonathan Lethem.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A voyage of exploration to the outer reaches of our inner lives. UFOs are a myth, says David J. Halperin—but myths are real. The power and fascination of the UFO has nothing to do with space travel or life on other planets. It's about us, our longings and terrors, and especially the greatest terror of all: the end of our existence. This is a book about UFOs that goes beyond believing in them or debunking them and to a fresh understanding of what they tell us about ourselves as individuals, as a culture, and as a species. In the 1960s, Halperin was a teenage UFOlogist, convinced that flying saucers were real and that it was his life's mission to solve their mystery. He would become a professor of religious studies, with traditions of heavenly journeys his specialty. With Intimate Alien, he looks back to explore what UFOs once meant to him as a boy growing up in a home haunted by death and what they still mean for millions, believers and deniers alike. From the prehistoric Balkans to the deserts of New Mexico, from the biblical visions of Ezekiel to modern abduction encounters, Intimate Alien traces the hidden story of the UFO. It's a human story from beginning to end, no less mysterious and fantastic for its earthliness. A collective cultural dream, UFOs transport us to the outer limits of that most alien yet intimate frontier, our own inner space.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Report on Unidentified Flying Objects, written by Captain Edward Ruppelt in 1956, was the first serious, unbiased account written about UFOs by anyone connected with the official government investigations of UFO phenomena. Ruppelt, who coined the term "unidentified flying objects" and headed Project Blue Book from 1951 to 1953, includes his personal investigations and findings in his extensive research on UFOs. He discusses both well-publicized UFO sightings and lesser-known accounts, as well as the inner workings of Air Force UFO research. This edition is the original 1956 edition; in 1960 Ruppelt released a second edition which seemed to weaken his original views that some UFO reports could not be explained, and reinforce the Air Force's position that there was nothing mysterious about UFOs. EDWARD J. RUPPELT (1923-1960) was the head of Project Blue Book during the Korean War, from 1951-1953. He served at the Air Technical Intelligence Center, where he took over Project Grudge, a formal investigation by the U.S. military with the goal of debunking extraterrestrial and UFO activity. Under Ruppelt's supervision, the project, later named Blue Book, experienced its most fruitful years, when investigations were properly conducted without judgment or disdain. Many UFO researchers hail him as a pioneer of UFO research and hero in the fight to earn respectability for the field.

Book excerpt: Known principally as an investigator of the UFO phenomenon and a science fiction novelist, the French-born Vallee (now a resident of the U.S.) has also worked as a computer scientist in both academia and industry. UFOlogists will not find the answers to all of their questions here, for although Vallee believes that UFOs exist, he has no idea just what they are. Therein lies the excellence of his dazzling diary: it offers a glimpse into the mind of a scientist who seems to challenge every preconception and established piety. To his academic training as a mathematician and scientist, which stressed rational approaches to problems, Vallee has brought an interest in the mystical, the psychical, and the paranormal. He has been a Rosicrucian and has studied the works of ancient scientists like Paracelsus. His diary is replete with profoundly insightful, often devastating observations about the strengths and weaknesses of France and the U.S., their academics and their researchers in industry.

The book reports 30 years of UFO sightings since 1964 with related data and descriptive features organized by category. Among the topics discussed are the now strongly established patterns of UFO sightings, the growing evidence worldwide that UFOs represent someone's technology, the history of government sponsored UFO investigations, and political and human responses to UFO sightings. The master chronology is an incredibly complete listing, which also refers the reader to pertinent sections in the book for fuller descriptions.

Book excerpt: Ultraterrestrial Contact investigates the most extreme and bizarre UFO reports—the cases that most UFO investigators are afraid to tackle—and presents a radical new quantum approach to understanding the contact phenomenon. When Philip Imbrogno collaborated with famed UFO researcher Dr. J. Allen Hynek on Night Siege, Dr. Hynek requested that the more sensational cases of "high strangeness"—claims of contact with not only alien intelligence, but also demons, djinn, and otherdimensional beings—remain unpublished. Hynek thought the reports would detract from the credibility of the entire extraterrestrial investigation field. This book reveals, for the first time, the details of these controversial reports and presents Imbrogno's startling scientific conclusions from his thirty years of research into the alien contact phenomenon.

Hilberg, Ufologist and Anomalist Cleveland, Ohio Fifty Years of UFO Stories Filled with anecdotes and insider information, UFO Mysteries chronicles fifty years of UFO occurrences in the United States and Europe, from Kenneth Arnold's 1947 sighting over Mt. Rainier to the wave of triangular UFO sightings over the U.S. and Great Britain during the 1990s. And for over 50 years, they have become witnesses to UFO visitations on a scale that rivals Hudson Valley in New York. In UFO's Over Topanga Canyon, Preston Dennett reveals the history of UFOs and this peaceful valley. The experiences of people range from seeing lights in the sky and alien craft that move in ways no Earthly vehicle could do, to full-on encounters with creatures not of this planet. Like the darkest "X-Files," these meetings turn to terror as people are abducted and returned, only to find a section of their lives, an entire period of time, has been wiped out. What happened during this missing time? What are these aliens trying to accomplish? Why is this happening just minutes from a major metropolitan area? If you want to find out what is going on and move deeper into the real-life mysteries of aliens, you must read UFO's Over Topanga Canyon.--from the Publisher.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cited by the New York Review of Books as “the best brief for visitation,” this classic study presents an analysis of UFO reports and concludes that many sightings cannot be easily dismissed. The case against UFOs and unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) has not been put to rest. Although UFOs “officially” did not exist for decades according to the government, reports of sightings continue to be made, and the latest releases from the government and related hearings have surprised the world. While the scientific community has put UFOs out to pasture, the evidence used to dismiss them is rare and unscientific. Dr. Hynek, a scientist himself, and the only government-paid ufologist in history, looks at the decisions made by officialdom in the early days of ufology and how these decisions have held us back—to the point that we are still naively talking about UFOs as we were in the 1950s. Has seventy years of research made no difference at all in our understanding? Dr. Hynek proves that there is a conspiracy afoot to hide the facts and that there are many cases that still need to be explained by mainstream science—not dismissed with facile jokes and stupid logic. Citing specific cases, Hynek challenges those in the ivory tower by raising questions that have still not been answered and refuting mainstream arguments that have yet to be proven.

As with the first volume, Dennett ventures deep into the heart of the UFO field, revealing previously unexplored areas. Inside this volume you will find: UFO INVESTIGATOR'S DISEASE One of the hidden dangers of being a UFO investigator is becoming investigated by the UFOs themselves. It's a clear-cut case of the hunter becoming the hunted. ALIENS-R-US What exactly is our relationship with extraterrestrials? In some cases, it might be much closer than you think. In fact, there is good evidence that aliens and humans are related. THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING ABDUCTEE The technological ability of ETs is astounding, including the power to shrink or enlarge things, including both people and their own ships. THE MYSTERY OF ANGEL HAIR Angel Hair is a rare substance ejected from UFOs. Nobody knows what it is, and only a handful of cases exist. It's a mystery that has baffled ufologists for decades. EXTRATERRESTRIAL GARDENERS Aliens have multiple agendas, including--as these cases show--the systematic study and collection of plant-life from our planet. UFO RESCUE AT SEA ETs have been known to intervene in human affairs on many occasions. However, only a few people have reported being rescued from a sinking ship by a UFO. THE SMELL OF UFOS It's an area of ufology that has received almost no attention. What do UFOs smell like? And what do their odors reveal about the phenomenon? The answers are surprising. THE UFO BREATHING POOL One of the rarest and most bizarre procedures performed onboard a UFO, the UFO breathing pool involve cases in which people are submersed in a breathable liquid. ALIEN DRINKS In some rare instances, when people are taken onboard a UFO, they are made to consume an exotic alien liquid. The question is: why? UFOS AND ROCKETS UFOs are keeping a very close eye on humanity's exploration of space. When it comes to rocket launches, somebody out there is watching us. As these cases will show, our space program is being closely monitored by aliens. Supported by firsthand cases from across the United States and the world, each chapter of "Not from Here: Selected UFO Articles--Volume 2" adds another tiny piece into the vast puzzle of the UFO phenomenon."
