Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "A fascinating and funny guide to history's favorite genius—and why he still matters." —A.J. Jacobs, New York Times bestselling author A fascinating look into how Einstein's genius and science continues to show up in so many facets of our everyday lives and his enduring legacy as an unlikely pop culture icon. Albert Einstein was the first modern-day celebrity and, decades after his death, still has the world's most recognizable face. His influence is seen in much of the technology we use every day: GPS, remote controls, weather forecasts, even toothpaste. But it's not just Einstein's scientific discoveries that continue to shape our world. His legacy underpins the search for aliens, the rescue of refugees, the invention of time machines, and the debunking of fake news. He appears in new books, TV shows, and movies all the time—and fans are paying millions for Einstein relics at auction. Award-winning author and journalist Benyamin Cohen has a bizarre side hustle as the manager of Einstein's official social media accounts, which have 20 million followers—more than most living celebrities. In The Einstein Effect, Cohen embarks on a global quest to unearth Einstein's ongoing relevance today. Along the way, he meets scientists and celebrities, speaks to dozens with the last name Einstein (including two rabbis), and even tracks down the brain of Einstein, stolen from his body during the autopsy. Cohen shows us the myriad ways the Nobel Prize winner's influence is still with us, giving an in-depth—and often hilarious—look at the world's favorite genius like you've never seen him before. Praise for The Einstein Effect: "Benyamin is a regular Joe with great humility, a tremendous sense of humor, a philosopher with an acute awareness of human connection, a gift to us all." —Mandy Patinkin, actor, singer, activist "I hope this book encourages others to be inspired by Einstein as well." —Christopher Lloyd, award-winning actor "A book for geniuses and the rest of us alike." —Derek Baxter, author of In Pursuit of Jefferson "A thoroughly entertaining new book." —Jeff Einstein, great-great nephew of Albert Einstein "Full of humor and surprises." —Paul Halpern, physics professor and author of Einstein's Dice and Schrödinger's Cat

Book excerpt: “An extraordinary real picture of human beings numbed by catastrophe but still driven by the unconquerable determination of living creatures to keep on being alive.” —The New Yorker “Alas, Babylon.” Those fateful words heralded the end. When the unthinkable nightmare of nuclear holocaust ravaged the United States, it was instant death for tens of millions of people; for survivors, it was a nightmare of hunger, sickness, and brutality. Overnight, a thousand years of civilization were stripped away. But for one small Florida town, miraculously spared against all the odds, the struggle was only just beginning, as the isolated survivors—men and women of all ages and races—found the courage to come together and confront the harrowing darkness. This classic apocalyptic novel by Pat Frank, first published in 1959 at the height of the Cold War, includes an introduction by award-winning science fiction writer and scientist David Brin.

Download or read book A Song For Zenith written by M.A Amru and published by Muhammad Amrul Amru. This book was released on 2021-12-15 with total page 327 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From acclaimed author, M.A Amru To be or not to be. That is all that matters... An overnight success, a bright future, and then a man from the future appeared. A computer from the past is among the things he wants. He goes by the name John Titor. The only person who can help him... Zenith's Mei Majid. They are, however, being pursued. Not even loved ones can be trusted. So, who can be trusted? Worlds can be undone, worlds can again fall into iniquity. For an old IBM, for their emotions, and the sake of humanity. Few would step forward as the righteous in a world of war, where lives are meaningless, and dictators rule. Each has its agenda, each has wicked visions, and each is against the other. The quest he has undertaken is crucial. She is his strength. If he fails, there will be a nuclear war, but the seeds of that conflict are unravelling before him. A Song For Zenith is a novel by Singaporean author, M.A Amru, that delves into an action-packed, thrill ride that would keep your nose on each page. A homage to 80s and 90s Japanese cyberpunk Anime, A Song For Zenith brings about a new perspective and retelling of the classic Shakespearian plays that of Henry V and Titus Andronicus. When I wrote this novel. I envisioned it as a homage to 80s, 90s cyberpunk anime that was popular at that time and I do have watched a lot of that kind of animation like Bubblegum Crisis and Angel Cop. What I am trying to convey is the feeling of watching back those old animations in writing which in modern Science Fiction does not. Not many novels do focus on Japanese cyberpunk specifically from the 1980s and it has become a niche genre to say. Only a few knew of such obscure good content since they were released as OVAs rather than on television. However, I do make note of the newer Science Fiction trends in my novels although not to follow them entirely. What I present is a unique work for all to enjoy.
