But her stable world is turned upside down when she catches Paul cheating. To her giant, overprotective family, Paul’s loss is their golden ticket to showing Jasmine that she deserves much more. The only problem is, Jasmine refuses to meet anyone new. But…what if the family set up a situation where she wouldn’t have to know? A secret Jasmine Project. The plan is simple: use Jasmine’s graduation party as an opportunity for her to meet the most eligible teen bachelors in Orlando. Book excerpt: Roger Harvey decided to leave the crowded underground train at Balham station and take the bus the rest of the way to the old War Office in Whitehall. As he was exiting the train, a youth bumped into him, shoved a pink plastic carrier bag into his hand, and disappeared into the crowd. Just as Roger was about to reach the street, a young woman came rushing in the opposite direction, collided with him, and fell heavily to the ground, winded. He helped the girl to her feet and, feeling sorry for her, suggested they have a coffee at the coffee house next to the station. When their drinks arrived, the girl noticed the plastic carrier bag Roger was still holding and asked about it. Inside, Roger found several sheets covered in chemical formulas that the girl recognized as potentially hazardous. As a military intelligence officer working for a supposedly non-existent government security department, Roger decided that the girl, whose name he had learned was Jasmine, and the chemicals deserved investigation.

Book Synopsis At the Heart of the Universe by : Samuel Shem
Download or read book At the Heart of the Universe written by Samuel Shem and published by Seven Stories Press. This book was released on 2016-06-28 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The story of two mothers and a father in love with the same daughter, Samuel Shem's At the Heart of the Universe is an epic novel set deep in rural China against the backdrop of an ancient mountain monastery during the time of the one-child-per-family policy. Inspired by the author's experiences as parent of an adopted child, it describes the drama of adoption and the journey of loss and rebirth that can happen when a daughter brings together her adopted mother and father with her birth mother high on a mountaintop. Set in 1991 in Changsha, capital of Hunan province, as a Chinese woman abandons her one-month-old daughter in a pile of celery in a busy market, and then shifting to Changsha ten years later as the daughter returns with her adopted American parents, the story moves across southern China until, high atop Emei San, one of China's "sacred mountains" with a Buddhist temple, the four are brought together in the wilderness—a perilous and explosive time that unleashes their heartbreak and suffering and, remarkably, transcends it to shared compassion, and new beginnings.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christie is happy in her life... or so she tells herself. Despite a tragic childhood, she has built a satisfying career and loves her city apartment. But deep down she yearns for a simpler life. Family. A garden. And a place to heal her heart. The decision to attend a funeral in a town she's never heard of throws her safe world into disarray, exposing the cracks in her life. As she deals with the fallout, Christie moves into a rundown cottage she's inherited and there, makes a discovery. A damaged painting. Unworn wedding rings. And a shoebox full of unopened love letters. Fifty years ago, a heartbroken young artist waited each dawn on a jetty for his true love to return. And each night, he wrote her a love letter. What Christie uncovers will change her life forever. This is a beautiful tale of love - sometimes lost, sometimes found and sometimes both. This is also a book with a mystery to solve which keeps your interest in the story. The author did an amazing job writing this book. The characters were well developed, the story was unique, and the descriptions helped you to feel the emotions, smell the scents, and visualize the persons, places and objects. I highly recommend this book if you enjoy romance with a bit of mystery and a HEA. Karen Thurmer. Book Synopsis Fairy Tales and Space Dreams by : Jasmine Shea Townsend
Download or read book Fairy Tales and Space Dreams written by Jasmine Shea Townsend and published by . This book was released on 2019-02-06 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A collection of fantasy and science fiction shorts. "Fairy Tales and Space Dreams" is a fantasy and science fiction anthology containing three fantasy and three sci-fi stories. The synopses of each story are as follows: "Princess Snow White" is a retelling of Snow White whereas she has hair as white as snow and skin as black as ebony, rather than the other way around. Although the original fairy tale lends this story its bones, this version of Snow White deals with the idea of Afrocentric beauty as an acceptable standard, as opposed to Eurocentric beauty being the only standard. "The Sea and the Stars" is a queer love story between a mermaid wallflowering at a party and a star that's fallen from the sky."Rapunzel the Night Maiden" is a retelling in which Rapunzel finds out a secret about her identity and goes on an adventure to find her people. "Omega Star Genesis" takes place far in the future, when humans are making a mass exodus from a dying Earth to flee a deadly virus. They are on a 10-year trip to Alpha Centauri when the Captain finds out their head engineer is building illegal A.I.s"The Cosmic Adventures of Sophie Zetyld" follows River, an ordinary grad student living an ordinary life in the suburbs when a comet is spotted soaring over his town. He later finds out that that wasn't a comet at all. It was an omni-dimensional space being named Sophie, who's come to let him know that he's been chosen to help save the world."Evangelina's Dream" is mainly an epilogue to "Sophie Zetyld." Not much can be said without giving anything away, but the reader will be in for a trippy ride.
