Book Synopsis Adaptive Processing of Sequences and Data Structures by : C.Lee Giles
Download or read book Adaptive Processing of Sequences and Data Structures written by C.Lee Giles and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1998-03-25 with total page 456 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tenascin, a recently characterized extracellular matrix (ECM) protein which is expressed during embryonic and fetal development, wound healing and various benign and malignant tumors (but highly restricted in normal adult tissues) is believed to affect a number of cellular functions such as cellular growth, differentiation, adhesion and motility. It has been extensively studied in recent years to elucidate cellular phenomena that are associated with development, tissue regeneration and neoplastic growth and behavior. It may be a potential target in the treatment of cancers and other disorders. This book focuses mainly on tissue expression and the poorly known biological role of this ECM protein.
Book Synopsis Lectures on Proof Verification and Approximation Algorithms by : Ernst W. Mayr
Download or read book Lectures on Proof Verification and Approximation Algorithms written by Ernst W. Mayr and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-06-08 with total page 351 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the last few years, we have seen quite spectacular progress in the area of approximation algorithms: for several fundamental optimization problems we now actually know matching upper and lower bounds for their approximability. This textbook-like tutorial is a coherent and essentially self-contained presentation of the enormous recent progress facilitated by the interplay between the theory of probabilistically checkable proofs and aproximation algorithms. The basic concepts, methods, and results are presented in a unified way to provide a smooth introduction for newcomers. These lectures are particularly useful for advanced courses or reading groups on the topic.

Book Synopsis Treatise on International Criminal Law by : Kai Ambos
Download or read book Treatise on International Criminal Law written by Kai Ambos and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2016-08-18 with total page 832 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the adoption of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court in 1998, international criminal law has rapidly grown in importance. This three-volume treatise on international criminal law presents a foundational, systematic, consistent, and comprehensive analysis of the field. Taking into account the scholarly literature, not only sources written in English but also in French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish, the book draws on the author's extensive academic and practical work in international criminal law. This third volume offers a comprehensive analysis of the procedures and implementation of international law by international criminal tribunals and the International Criminal Court. Through analysis of the framework of international criminal procedure, the author considers each stage in the process of proceedings before the ICC, including the role of legal participants, the scope of jurisdiction, and the enforcement of sentences. The full three-volume treatise addresses the entirety of international criminal law, re-stating and re-examining the fundamental principles upon which it rests, the manner it is enacted, and the key issues that are shaping its future. It is essential reading for practitioners, scholars, and students of international criminal law alike.

Book Synopsis Britain and its internal others, 1750–1800 by : Dana Y. Rabin
Download or read book Britain and its internal others, 1750–1800 written by Dana Y. Rabin and published by Manchester University Press. This book was released on 2017-10-01 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The rule of law, an ideology of equality and universality that justified Britain's eighteenth-century imperial claims, was the product not of abstract principles but imperial contact. As the Empire expanded, encompassing greater religious, ethnic and racial diversity, the law paradoxically contained and maintained these very differences. This book revisits six notorious incidents that occasioned vigorous debate in London's courtrooms, streets and presses: the Jewish Naturalization Act and the Elizabeth Canning case (1753–54); the Somerset Case (1771–72); the Gordon Riots (1780); the mutinies of 1797; and Union with Ireland (1800). Each of these cases adjudicated the presence of outsiders in London – from Jews and Gypsies to Africans and Catholics. The demands of these internal others to equality before the law drew them into the legal system, challenging longstanding notions of English identity and exposing contradictions in the rule of law.

Book Synopsis Principles and Practice of Constraint Programming - CP98 by : Michael Maher
Download or read book Principles and Practice of Constraint Programming - CP98 written by Michael Maher and published by Springer. This book was released on 2003-05-20 with total page 495 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Constraints have emerged as the basis of a representational and computational paradigm that draws from many disciplines and can be brought to bear on many problem domains. This volume contains papers dealing with all aspects of c- puting with constraints. In particular, there are several papers on applications of constraints, re?ecting the practical usefulness of constraint programming. The papers were presented at the 1998 International Conference on Principles and Practice of Constraint Programming (CP’98), held in Pisa, Italy, 26{30 - tober, 1998. It is the fourth in this series of conferences, following conferences in Cassis (France), Cambridge (USA), and Schloss Hagenberg (Austria). We received 115 high quality submissions. In addition, 7 abstracts submissions were not followed by a full paper, hence were not counted as submissions. The program committee selected 29 high quality papers after thorough refereeing by at least 3 experts and further discussion by committee members. We thank the referees and the program committee for the time and e ort spent in reviewing the papers. The program committee invited three speakers: { Joxan Ja ar { Peter Jeavons { Patrick Prosser Their papers are in this volume.
