Narayanamurthy(CEO) was leading the company since its establishment till 2014, for 21 years. Its market cap amounted to 46.52 billion dollars on March 29, 2019. In 2019, it has 228,123 employees working at different roles and campus, all over the world. Infosys offers software development, maintenance, and autonomous validation services to finance, insurance, production, and other businesses. Infosys planned to reduce the amount of work done on site by their manpower travelling visas in the United States by shipping more work overseas. By this way, Infosys aim to protect and improve margin benefits. Charge for onsite projects are 3-4 times more than those delivered out of India. Infosys has nearly 25% work performed onsite and remaining from India. Forrester research has used Forrester wave methodology to classify Infosys as a leader in easy offshore capacities. The study also reviewed that Infosys, using a low-cost GDM or offshore delivery model, is the biggest of the six in terms of income for application-related services. This case study focused on various goals-- business vs. operational metrics, profit vs. saving cost, and decreased service needs vs. better customer service. This Case study also helps to explore the strategies and advantages of providing IT services in terms of economic development and client demand.

Raghavan officially being the first employee of the company. Murthy started the company by borrowing INR 10,000 from his wife Sudha Murthy. The company was incorporated as "Infosys Consultants Pvt Ltd.", with Raghavan's house in Model Colony, north-central Pune as the registered office. In 1982, Infosys opened an office in Bangalore which soon became its headquarters. Infosys went public in 1993. Interestingly, Infosys IPO was undersubscribed but it was "bailed out" by US investment banker Morgan Stanley which picked up 13% of equity at the offer price of Rs. 95 per share. The share price surged to Rs. 8,100 by 1999 making it the costliest share on the market at the time. According to Forbes magazine, since listing on the Bombay Stock Exchange till the year 2000, Infosys' sales and earnings compounded at more than 70% a year. In 2001, it was rated Best Employer in India by Business Today. Infosys won the Global MAKE (Most Admired Knowledge Enterprises) award, for the years 2003, 2004 and 2005, being the only Indian company to win this award and is inducted into the Global Hall of Fame for the same. In April 2009, Forbes rated Infosys among the 5 best performing companies in the software and services sector in the world.

Two-thirds of India’s population work in the agricultural sector and account for around 25% of GDP. The Indian indicator of human development is one of the lowest in the world, and a large fraction of the population still lives below the poverty line. Nevertheless, due to India’s liberalising reform programme and the rising economic de-velopment, the number of poor people will decline to 220.1 million by 2007 according to the Planning Commission. The World Bank estimates that India will become the fourth largest economy in the world by 2020. While increasing pressures on domestic industry will have to cope with competition from imports, liberalisation of trade will open up new opportunities for ex-port of goods. India’s service sector has already become the dominant contributor to GDP, accounting for 46 per cent of the total. NASSCOM, the Indian industry’s lobby, has stated that the country’s exports from software, other IT services and business-process-outsourcing in-dustries grew by more than 25% to $12 billion last year, of which infrastructure services accounted for just over $300m. The global market for textiles, clothing and agricultural products will expand dramati-cally, but India’s ability to export will depend on its capacity to keep pace with rising international standards of price, quality productivity and service.
