Book Synopsis High-Performance CMOS Continuous-Time Filters by : José Silva-Martínez
Download or read book High-Performance CMOS Continuous-Time Filters written by José Silva-Martínez and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: High-Performance CMOS Continuous-Time Filters is devoted to the design of CMOS continuous-time filters. CMOS is employed because the most complex integrated circuits have been realized with this technology for two decades. The most important advantages and drawbacks of continuous-time filters are clearly shown. The transfer function is one of the most important filter parameters but several others (like intermodulation distortion, power-supply rejection ratio, noise level and dynamic range) are fundamental in the design of high-performance systems. Special attention is paid to the practical aspects of the design, which shows the difference between an academic design and an industrial design. A clear understanding of the behavior of the circuits and techniques is preferred over complex equations or interpretation of simulated results. Step-by-step design procedures are very often used to clarify the use of the techniques and topologies. The organization of this text is hierarchical, starting with the design consideration of the basic building blocks and ending with the design of several high-performance continuous-time filters. Most of the circuits have been fabricated, theoretically analyzed and simulated, and silicon measurement results are compared with each other. High-Performance CMOS Continuous-Time Filters can be used as a text book for senior or graduate courses on this topic and can also be useful for industrial engineers as a reference book.

Book Synopsis VLSI for Neural Networks and Artificial Intelligence by : Jose G. Delgado-Frias
Download or read book VLSI for Neural Networks and Artificial Intelligence written by Jose G. Delgado-Frias and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 318 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Neural network and artificial intelligence algorithrns and computing have increased not only in complexity but also in the number of applications. This in turn has posed a tremendous need for a larger computational power that conventional scalar processors may not be able to deliver efficiently. These processors are oriented towards numeric and data manipulations. Due to the neurocomputing requirements (such as non-programming and learning) and the artificial intelligence requirements (such as symbolic manipulation and knowledge representation) a different set of constraints and demands are imposed on the computer architectures/organizations for these applications. Research and development of new computer architectures and VLSI circuits for neural networks and artificial intelligence have been increased in order to meet the new performance requirements. This book presents novel approaches and trends on VLSI implementations of machines for these applications. Papers have been drawn from a number of research communities; the subjects span analog and digital VLSI design, computer design, computer architectures, neurocomputing and artificial intelligence techniques. This book has been organized into four subject areas that cover the two major categories of this book; the areas are: analog circuits for neural networks, digital implementations of neural networks, neural networks on multiprocessor systems and applications, and VLSI machines for artificial intelligence. The topics that are covered in each area are briefly introduced below.

Book Synopsis VLSI Implementations for Image Communications by : P. Pirsch
Download or read book VLSI Implementations for Image Communications written by P. Pirsch and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-06-28 with total page 413 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The past few years have seen a rapid growth in image processing and image communication technologies. New video services and multimedia applications are continuously being designed. Essential for all these applications are image and video compression techniques. The purpose of this book is to report on recent advances in VLSI architectures and their implementation for video signal processing applications with emphasis on video coding for bit rate reduction. Efficient VLSI implementation for video signal processing spans a broad range of disciplines involving algorithms, architectures, circuits, and systems. Recent progress in VLSI architectures and implementations has resulted in the reduction in cost and size of video signal processing equipment and has made video applications more practical. The topics covered in this volume demonstrate the increasingly interdisciplinary nature of VLSI implementation of video signal processing applications, involving interactions between algorithms, VLSI architectures, circuit techniques, semiconductor technologies and CAD for microelectronics.

Book Synopsis Signal Processing of HDTV, III by : Hiroshi Yasuda
Download or read book Signal Processing of HDTV, III written by Hiroshi Yasuda and published by Elsevier Publishing Company. This book was released on 1992 with total page 694 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The HDTV workshops were established with the aim of aiding definition and fostering the introduction of HDTV. Their fundamental principle is the separation of the standardisation process from the technological development, with the workshops concentrating mainly on the latter. Over the past few years important steps towards actual implementation of HDTV have been made in the major countries. HDTV is now considered to be a strategic piece of applied research in virtually all countries of the world and in many environments there is mounting pressure to start up service and equipment manufacturing. The papers presented in this volume constitute a key contribution to the establishment of this giant step towards a fully fledged information society. Due to the extensive length of the contents, only the number of papers presented per session is listed below.
