Book excerpt: The Enhanced Interior Gateway Protocol (EIGRP) from Cisco Systems is one of the most widely used intra-domain routing protocols in todayis corporate networks. Although EIGRP is easily configured, the inner workings are generally not well understood. The result: nonoptimized networks that lead to chronic and costly problems requiring time and energy to solve. EIGRP for IP is a concise, complete, and practical guide to understanding and working with EIGRP. It focuses on EIGRP in the context of IP, although the principles learned from this guide can be applied to the other major network protocols that EIGRP supports, including IPX and AppleTalk. The book provides an overview of essential concepts, terminology, and EIGRP mechanisms, in addition to a look at the most important configuration options. It examines network design with regard to EIGRPis capabilities, offering concrete tips for specific design issues that arise in EIGRP networks. Also featured is an experience-based guide to EIGRP troubleshooting, with solutions to many commonly encountered problems. Specific topics covered include: The foundations of EIGRP, including the Diffusing Update Algorithm (DUAL) A comparison of EIGRP to other interior gateway routing protocols Configuring summarization Standard and extended access distribution lists Hierarchy and redundancy in network topology Path selection Multiple EIGRP autonomous systems Isolating misbehaving routers Solving problems with neighbor relationships Stuck in Active (SIA) routes Serving as both a complete reference and a practical handbook, EIGRP for IP is an essential resource for network professionals charged with maintaining an efficient, smoothly functioning network.

Book Synopsis The Business Cycle: Theories and Evidence by : M.T. Belongia
Download or read book The Business Cycle: Theories and Evidence written by M.T. Belongia and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These proceedings, from a conference held at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis on October 17-18, 1991, attempted to layout what we currently know about aggregate economic fluctuations. Identifying what we know inevitably reveals what we do not know about such fluctuations as well. From the vantage point of where the conference's participants view our current understanding to be, these proceedings can be seen as suggesting an agenda for further research. The conference was divided into five sections. It began with the formu lation of an empirical definition of the "business cycle" and a recitation of the stylized facts that must be explained by any theory that purports to capture the business cycle's essence. After outlining the historical develop ment and key features of the current "theories" of business cycles, the conference evaluated these theories on the basis of their ability to explain the facts. Included in this evaluation was a discussion of whether (and how) the competing theories could be distinguished empirically. The conference then examined the implications for policy of what is known and not known about business cycles. A panel discussion closed the conference, high lighting important unresolved theoretical and empirical issues that should be taken up in future business cycle research. What Is a Business Cycle? Before gaining a genuine understanding of business cycles, economists must agree and be clear about what they mean when they refer to the cycle.

Book Synopsis Romania by : International Monetary Fund. European Dept.
Download or read book Romania written by International Monetary Fund. European Dept. and published by International Monetary Fund. This book was released on 2015-03-27 with total page 99 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Selected Issues paper discusses benefits of boosting quality public infrastructure spending in Romania. Since the financial crisis, fiscal and current account deficits have been tackled, but the infrastructure deficit has widened. Quality public investment in infrastructure can boost domestic demand and potential GDP growth, particularly in low growth environments. The IMF staff simulations employing the European Union’s production function methodology show significant growth benefits from higher quality infrastructure spending. As a result of higher investment, real GDP would increase by about 1 percent initially with the impact peaking in 2025.
