Among the factors that accounted for the existence of conflict in the organization, perpetual difference, value difference, modern technology and personality clashes were the most important. The effort of management to understand the existing conflict in the organization is low which implies the weakness of management of the organization in handling conflict. In general, undertaking conflict and assessing conflict management practice is important task for the reduction of problems which exist in the organization.

Book excerpt: Master's Thesis from the year 2021 in the subject Economics - Finance, grade: 1, , course: Masters in Public Administration, language: English, abstract: This study was aimed at assessing and analyzing the Credit Management Practices of Balili Elementary School Teachers in La Trinidad Benguet. Credit management practices are the strategies used by an organization to ensure that the level of credit in the firm is acceptable and is managed effectively. It is part of financial management that comprises the analysis of credit, rating of credit, classification, and reporting of credit. And when credit management is done right, then the capital with debtors reduces, and the possibility of bad debts is also reduced. The main objective of this study was to examine the level of agreement and implementation on the credit management practices when grouped according to sex, civil status, length of service and monthly gross income. The study made use of a descriptive research design and utilized a survey questionnaire as its method. The teachers in the Philippines are being tagged as "taga London" (it means they tend to loan here and there). One of the identified culprits to their burden of borrowing is the low salary they are receiving. But, given the presented facts that those around the world who are top-paid even face over obligations due to borrowings, credit management practices should also be seen as one of the factors. As Alison has opined, borrowing should not cause more debts. Instead, it should serve the purpose of why one borrows, such as holding a buffer stock of savings, planning for retirement, and using high-cost methods of borrowing. The revelations of Joo and Grable and Gerrans et al. , relative to the teachers' borrowing are quite alarming. It is because the personal financial wellness of the teachers is seen affecting the work performance. The burden of paying the amount borrowed affects work productivity. Shad opined that an employee who is worried about their unpaid obligations could not perform well as it impacts physical and mental wellbeing. It often causes anxiety, depression, and absenteeism. While any organization is for productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness, the employees mirror its goals. They are still the goals' implementers. If personal financial management directly affects their productivity at work, there must be an organization's intervention.

Book excerpt: Seminar paper from the year 2004 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, grade: 2,0, University of Tampere, course: Advanced Studies for Doing Business in Asia, language: English, abstract: Japan is known for its successful companies. One might only think about the automobile manufacturer Toyota. To perform successful, a company has to maximise profit. In contrast to Western companies, in Japanese companies, profit is maximised by increasing sales and maximising volume by increasing productivity and efficiency. The question that arises is how could the Japanese increase productivity that much? One possible answer is the Japanese management approach. For some time now, the characteristics of Japanese management style have been a popular issue, mainly in Europe and in the United States. Have the qualities and values of society and of individual been a reason for Japanese success? Such issues as the business group, the seniority wage system, the lifetime employment system and the periodic recruitment of new graduates have been examined in diverse ways. A look at the actual operations of Japanese enterprises in Europe and the United States indicates that, there are changes going on concerning Japanese management practices. Japan is an island with almost total ethnic homogeneity, having been unaffected by Western influences for long time. Modern management practices are said to be rooted in the cultural and geographical traditions of the country. Emphasis in recent analysis has been put on how the Japanese management style has arisen and evolved historically, rather than on its typological characteristics. This paper makes the attempt to examine Japanese management characteristics with regard to historical influences, Japanese culture, Japanese social system as well as possible future needs. Cultural and historical heritage will be presented first followed by a summary of Japanese values on which society is based. After that, management practices with regard to traditional and modern approaches are presented. Meanwhile, changes in management practices are examined.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Urbanisation in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia, poses challenges to urban living conditions. Despite large scale housing programmes from the side of the government, construction and settling processes have largely remained incremental. Nadine Appelhans focuses on the relation between statutory planning and practices of everyday urbanisation. The findings from Bahir Dar suggest that some mundane regimes of building the city are patronised, while others are considered undesired by policy makers. Based on this insight, the author argues that urban development in Bahir Dar needs to be locally grounded, differentiated and inclusive to avoid further tendencies of segregation.

This book was released on 2017-12-14 with total page 70 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Research Paper (postgraduate) from the year 2017 in the subject Business economics - Investment and Finance, grade: 72%, Kingston University London (Kingston business school), course: M.B.A, language: English, abstract: Globalisation and the increased importance of Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) in the corporate world, continue to be the focus and centre of attention of many. The constant increase in the volume of transactions and deal value in all sectors, has led to many researches in the field of M&A, focussing on deal structuring, integration process identification, and also success factors. Being unique, a limited research has been focussed on the mining sector, hence it is valuable to investigate M&A factors of success in the mining industry. Therefore, the research question of “Critical success factors for M&A, and best practices in the mining industry" has been raised. Comprehensive list of critical success factors has been identified through a broad literature review, to endeavour the practicality of each factor to the mining sector. Also, the author has conducted a case study analysis method, to provide a real-life expertise of M&A in the mining industry, based on secondary data and annual reports. The case of ST Barbara Mining Limited (SBM AU) takeover of Allied Gold Mining (ALD AU) was investigated, in order to identify critical factors of success pre and post-merger in the Gold mining sector. Addressing the research question, the findings indicate that success factors of an M&A deal in mining industry depends on the time of the deal announcement, geological assessment of the target assets, and the geo-location of the mine. The research concludes that success factors if aligned to a company strategic plan, could increase chances of success of an M&A deal in the mining sector. The findings contribute valuable guidance to both practitioners and researchers in the mining field. For companies operating M&A in the mining sector, It is recommended to focus on pricing efficiency and the integration process post-merger. For the target company, management should be lenient towards deal price disagreement and compromise to avoid post-transaction completion issues. For the acquirer firm, overpayment should be avoided, coupled with an increase in efficiency and professionalism during the integration process, as well as preventing conflict of interest.

Book excerpt: Ethnoecology has blossomed in recent years into an important science because of the realization that the vast body of knowledge contained in both indigenous and folk cultures is being rapidly lost as natural ecosystems and cultures are being destroyed by the encroachment of development. Ethnobotany and ethnozoology both began largely with direct observations about the ways in which people used plants and animals and consisted mainly of the compilation of lists. Recently, these subjects have adopted a much more scientific and quantitative methodology and have studied the ways in which people manage their environment and, as a consequence, have used a much more ecological approach. This manual of ethnobotanical methodology will become an essential tool for all ethnobiologists and ethnoecologists. It fills a significant gap in the literature and I only wish it had been available some years previously so that I could have given it to many of my students. I shall certainly recommend it to any future students who are interested in ethnoecology. I particularly like the sympathetic approach to local peoples which pervades this book. It is one which encourages the ethnobotanical work by both the local people themselves and by academically trained researchers. A study of this book will avoid many of the arrogant approaches of the past and encourage a fair deal for any group which is being studied. This manual promotes both the involvement oflocal people and the return to them of knowledge which has been studied by outsiders.
