Book Synopsis Handbook of EOQ Inventory Problems by : Tsan-Ming Choi
Download or read book Handbook of EOQ Inventory Problems written by Tsan-Ming Choi and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-08-17 with total page 281 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) inventory model first appeared in 1913, and in its centennial, it is still one of the most important inventory models. Despite the abundance of both classical and new research results, there was (until now) no comprehensive reference source that provides the state-of-the-art findings on both theoretical and applied research on the EOQ and its related models. This edited handbook puts together all these interesting works and the respective insights into an edited volume. The handbook contains papers which explore both the deterministic and the stochastic EOQ-model based problems and applications. It is organized into three parts: Part I presents three papers that provide an introduction and review of various EOQ related models. Part II includes four technical analyses on single-echelon EOQ-model based inventory problems. Part III consists of five papers on applications of the EOQ model for multi-echelon supply chain inventory analysis.

Book Synopsis Optimal Inventory Modeling of Systems by : Craig C. Sherbrooke
Download or read book Optimal Inventory Modeling of Systems written by Craig C. Sherbrooke and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-04-11 with total page 350 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most books on inventory theory use the item approach to determine stock levels, ignoring the impact of unit cost, echelon location, and hardware indenture. Optimal Inventory Modeling of Systems is the first book to take the system approach to inventory modeling. The result has been dramatic reductions in the resources to operate many systems - fleets of aircraft, ships, telecommunications networks, electric utilities, and the space station. Although only four chapters and appendices are totally new in this edition, extensive revisions have been made in all chapters, adding numerous worked-out examples. Many new applications have been added including commercial airlines, experience gained during Desert Storm, and adoption of the Windows interface as a standard for personal computer models.

Book Synopsis Inventory Optimization by : Nicolas Vandeput
Download or read book Inventory Optimization written by Nicolas Vandeput and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2020-08-24 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book . . . Nicolas Vandeput hacks his way through the maze of quantitative supply chain optimizations. This book illustrates how the quantitative optimization of 21st century supply chains should be crafted and executed. . . . Vandeput is at the forefront of a new and better way of doing supply chains, and thanks to a richly illustrated book, where every single situation gets its own illustrating code snippet, so could you. --Joannes Vermorel, CEO, Lokad Inventory Optimization argues that mathematical inventory models can only take us so far with supply chain management. In order to optimize inventory policies, we have to use probabilistic simulations. The book explains how to implement these models and simulations step-by-step, starting from simple deterministic ones to complex multi-echelon optimization. The first two parts of the book discuss classical mathematical models, their limitations and assumptions, and a quick but effective introduction to Python is provided. Part 3 contains more advanced models that will allow you to optimize your profits, estimate your lost sales and use advanced demand distributions. It also provides an explanation of how you can optimize a multi-echelon supply chain based on a simple—yet powerful—framework. Part 4 discusses inventory optimization thanks to simulations under custom discrete demand probability functions. Inventory managers, demand planners and academics interested in gaining cost-effective solutions will benefit from the "do-it-yourself" examples and Python programs included in each chapter. Events around the book Link to a De Gruyter Online Event in which the author Nicolas Vandeput together with Stefan de Kok, supply chain innovator and CEO of Wahupa; Koen Cobbaert, Director in the S&O Industry practice of PwC Belgium; Bram Desmet, professor of operations & supply chain at the Vlerick Business School in Ghent; and Karl-Eric Devaux, Planning Consultant, Hatmill, discuss about models for inventory optimization. The event will be moderated by Eric Wilson, Director of Thought Leadership for Institute of Business Forecasting (IBF): https://youtu.be/565fDQMJEEg

Book Synopsis SAP MM INVENTORY MANAGEMENT by : P.K. AGRAWAL
Download or read book SAP MM INVENTORY MANAGEMENT written by P.K. AGRAWAL and published by PHI Learning Pvt. Ltd.. This book was released on 2014-07-30 with total page 919 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: SAP is a powerful software that meets the requirement of business all over the world. This well-organised book comprising 34 chapters is useful for both beginners and professionals. Being a learning guide and a user manual, the book will be immensely valuable for all those who are training to be SAP consultant. If you are a material/production manager, a QM professional or a business executive, you will find that the book brings a lot of convenience in your work and minimises inventory losses. A New Approach to SAP Implementation Structured dialog :The dialog between the consultant and the users should be based on the structure of this book. The consultant would demonstrate a business transaction, e.g. goods receipt, in its simplest form. He would then explain the data items on the screens, their meaning and significance. He would enquire whether the data item is relevant for the client company. The data items that are not relevant can be hidden in the implementation, and related configuration marked as not required. When the consultant would come to a section explaining IMG node, his questions to the user would be designed to collect the information required to configure that node. Prototyping :As the structured dialog continues, the consultant would go on doing the configuration. By the end of the dialog, the consultant would have built a company-specific prototype. Training and trials :The prototype would be a rough-cut implementation of SAP for the company. It would be used for training the users. After training, the users would try out the system. They would perform routine transactions several times using real-life data of their company. They would try different scenarios and record their observations. Refinement :After prototype trials, the consultant and the users would sit together to discuss what the users required to do, but could not do with the prototype. The consultant would use this input to refine the prototype and to build new functionality, if needed. Configuration manual :The documentation of SAP implementation includes a configuration manual. This configuration manual should be structured on the lines of this book as explained in Chapter 34. Such a configuration manual will be easy to understand as it groups logically related elements together. User manual :This book will serve as a generic user manual. Company-specific user manual can also be structured on the lines of this book including only company-specific guidelines for the users. Book Synopsis Inventory Management-principles and Practices. by : P. Narayan
Download or read book Inventory Management-principles and Practices. written by P. Narayan and published by Excel Books India. This book was released on 2009 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book Inventory Management Principles and Practices explains all the fundamental principles of Inventory Management. It starts with a definition of Inventory, why it is needed as well as not needed, what is its impact on a business, how do we classify them for ease of control and what are the various techniques of inventory control. Inventory is an outcome of procurement. So obviously, while studying inventories, the logic behind its procurement should be studied. Hence, chapters on Manufacturing Resources Planning have been added. Just-in-time principles and TQM are some more methods of achieving world-class manufacturing, so they have also been included here. In the present scenario, all activities are being computerized. So lessons on e-commerce as well as all the latest technologies that are affecting Inventory Management have been included. Chapters have been included on methods to handle specific classes of inventories such as spare parts inventory, finished goods inventory, work-in-process inventory, surplus, obsolete and non-moving inventory, etc. Logistics and supply chain management defines the path which a material takes in it s life through a company. So it was essential to include a chapter on it also. Keeping in mind the syllabus prescribed in the various universities on this subject, the chapters have been designed accordingly. A chapter has also been included on some motivational thoughts outlining some principles, which would help us to become successful in life. The principles outlined here are universal, applicable to any situation, organization or country.

Book Synopsis Perishable Inventory Systems by : Steven Nahmias
Download or read book Perishable Inventory Systems written by Steven Nahmias and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-05-17 with total page 89 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A perishable item is one that has constant utility up until an expiration date (which may be known or uncertain), at which point the utility drops to zero. This includes many types of packaged foods such as milk, cheese, processed meats, and canned goods. It also includes virtually all pharmaceuticals and photographic film, as well as whole blood supplies. This book is the first devoted solely to perishable inventory systems. The book’s ten chapters first cover the preliminaries of periodic review versus continuous review and look at a one-period newsvendor perishable inventory model. The author moves to the basic multiperiod dynamic model, and then considers the extensions of random lifetime, inclusion of a set-up cost, and multiproduct models of perishables. A chapter on continuous review models looks at one-for-one policies, models with zero lead time, optimal policies with positive lead time, and an alternative approach. Additional chapters present material on approximate order policies, inventory depletion management, and deterministic models, including the basic EOQ model with perishability and the dynamic deterministic model with perishability. Finally, chapters explore decaying inventories, queues with impatient customers, and blood bank inventory control. Anyone researching perishable inventory systems will find much to work with here. Practitioners and consultants will also now have a single well-referenced source of up-to-date information to work with.
