It has become an indispensable technique for troubleshooting and research in diverse fields, such as engineering, medicine and art. This book presents one plenary lecture and 41 selected papers from the 19th International Workshop on Electromagnetic Nondestructive Evaluation, held in Xi'an, China, in June 2014. The workshop focused on research into the theory and application of ENDE methods, and provided a forum for the exchange of ideas and discussion of recent developments. The papers are arranged in five sections: material characterization; analytical and numerical modeling; inverse problems and signal processing; new developments and innovative industrial applications; and advanced sensors in ENDE.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Eddy current testing is a key technology among electromagnetic non-destructive testings at present and this situation was motivated by a stringent need to detect small cracks in tubing of a steam generator of nuclear power plants. In these five years the ECT technology has been enhanced very much, demonstrating that high performanced sensors for ECT are now ready to be applied to the annual inspection of steam generator tubing with use of arrayed micro sensors for ECT. In addition to the innovative technology, an inversion technique is being theoretically developed to make reconstruction of defects possible with use of data from the arrayed sensors. Rapid growth of interest in electromagnetic nondestructive evaluation have brought together experts from different parts of the world, as reflected in this work. The book is intended for engineers, researchers and practitioners working in the area of electromagnetism.

Download or read book Electromagnetic Nondestructive Evaluation (XVII) written by K. Capova and published by IOS Press. This book was released on 2014-07-02 with total page 380 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The demand for new and effective methods for the evaluation, maintenance and live-time testing of objects in fields as diverse as engineering, medicine and art, continues to grow. Electromagnetic non-destructive evaluation is a process by which an object can be assessed without permanent alteration by means of inducing electric currents or magnetic fields within the object and observing the electromagnetic response. This book presents selected papers from the 18th International Workshop on Electromagnetic Non-destructive Evaluation (ENDE), which was held in Bratislava, Slovak Republic, on June 25-28, 2013. The aim of the workshop was to provide an international forum for the discussion of the state-of-the-art and perspectives in the field from the view of science, technology and engineering. The book is divided into five main sections: advanced sensors; analytical and numerical modeling and biomedical applications; innovative industrial applications; new developments; and, solutions of inverse problems. Containing 40 peer-reviewed papers, it will be of interest to all those whose work involves electromagnetic non-destructive evaluation, whatever their discipline.

Book Synopsis Electrical and Magnetic Methods of Non-destructive Testing by : J. Blitz
Download or read book Electrical and Magnetic Methods of Non-destructive Testing written by J. Blitz and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1997-11-30 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is intended to help satisfy an urgent requirement for up-to date comprehensive texts at graduate and senior undergraduate levels on the subjects in non-destructive testing (NDT). The subject matter here is confined to electrical and magnetic methods, with emphasis on the widely used eddy current and magnetic flux leakage methods (including particle inspection), but proper attention is paid to other techniques, such as microwave and AC field applications, which are rapidly growing in importance. Theoretical analyses relating to the various methods are discussed and the depths of presentation are often governed by whether or not the information is readily available elsewhere. Thus, for example, a considerable amount of space is devoted to eddy current theory at what the author considers to be a reasonable standard and not, as usually experienced, in either a too elementary manner or at a level appreciated only by a postgraduate theoretical physicist. The inclusion of the introductory chapter is intended to acquaint the reader with some of the philosophy of NDT and to compare, briefly, the relative performances of the more important methods of testing.

Download or read book Progress Report on Nondestructive Testing by Electromagnetic Methods written by C. J. Renken and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page 34 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Activities in a program to improve electromagnetic and eddy current test methods and equipment are summarized. A description of a modified version of the multi-frequency eddy current testing system is presented along with discussions of various specific uses. Other information is given concerning through- transmission testing systems using pulsed eddy current fields. Information is also included concerning the use of fields and masked aperture assemblies in test arrangements which permit the inspection of the specimen from one side only. Such an apparatus incorporates the convenience of conventional eddy current test equipment and good features of the through-transmission system.
