Book Synopsis The Action-oriented Approach by : Enrica Piccardo
Download or read book The Action-oriented Approach written by Enrica Piccardo and published by Multilingual Matters. This book was released on 2019-07-24 with total page 475 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the background to the current shift in language education towards action-oriented/action-based teaching, and provides a theorization of the Action-oriented Approach (AoA). It discusses the concepts and theories that paved the way for the AoA and explores their relevance for the way language education is conceived and implemented in the classroom. In the process, it revisits the concept of competence and discusses the dynamic notions of mediation and plurilingualism. The authors explain the way in which the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and its recent update, the CEFR Companion Volume, broaden the scope of language education, in particular in relation to the actional turn. The book provides scholars and practitioners with a research-informed description of the AoA, explains its implications for curriculum planning, teaching and assessment, and elaborates on its pedagogical implications.

Book Synopsis Sustainable Production System by : Clément Morlat
Download or read book Sustainable Production System written by Clément Morlat and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2020-04-09 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wealth is no longer just an ability to live well in a world shaped by human activities. It is also an ability to push back or defer the limits of a world in biological and climatic closure. This book examines the theoretical conflicts and the power plays which often oppose the socio-political and technical-financial practices of recognition of what intervenes in the production of this wealth – i.e. of what has value. It lays down the principles of a contributory modeling method, allowing debates around the concept of development; the building of scenarios; the negotiation of their implementation; and a cross-sectoral reading of their social, ecological and economic costs. This method, called Dynamic Modeling of Cost Systems, is based on a territorial communication device which articulates political, contractual and accounting innovations using deliberative and normative digital tools. It combines different local representations of value, in order to approach wealth through an integrated analysis of micro-, meso- and macro- issues.
Book Synopsis Sequencing Apple's DNA by : Patrick Corsi
Download or read book Sequencing Apple's DNA written by Patrick Corsi and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2015-12-15 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book aims to extract the "molecular genes" leading to craziness! Geniuses are the ones who are "crazy enough to think they can change the world" and boldly go where no one has gone before. Where no past habit and usage are available, there is no proof of viability, as nobody has done it yet, or even imagined it, and no roadmap for guidance or market study has come up with it. The authors call upon Leonardo Da Vinci, the Renaissance genius, who as strange as it seems, shared many traits of personality with that of Steve Jobs, in terms of the ways of performing. Da Vinci helps in understanding Jobs, and hence Apple, with his unique way of designing radically novel concepts, which were actually quite crazy for his time. In order to shed light on a special creative posture, the indomitable sense of specifying undecidable objects – a hallmark of the late Steve Jobs – is what led the authors to match it with a specific design innovation theory. A real theory, backed by solid mathematical proof, exists and can account for the business virtue of a prolific ability to move into unknown crazy fields! The authors postulate that, by bringing the power of C-K theory to crack open a number of previous observations made about Apple’s methods, it is possible to identify most of the genes of this company. The authors analyze how and why an Apple way of doing business is radically different from standard business practices and why it is so successful. Genes are a measure of the entity at hand and can encourage past business education routine approaches, then become transferable across the spectrum of the socio-economic world.

Book Synopsis Landscape dimensions by : Council of Europe
Download or read book Landscape dimensions written by Council of Europe and published by Council of Europe. This book was released on 2017-04-28 with total page 279 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As a key element of individual and social well-being and quality of life, landscape plays an important part in human fulfilment and in reinforcement of European identity. Adopted under the auspices of the Council of Europe, the European Landscape Convention aims to promote the protection, management and planning of landscapes, and to organise international co-operation in this field. It applies to the entire territory of the contracting parties and covers natural, rural, urban and peri-urban areas. It concerns landscapes considered outstanding, as well as everyday or degraded areas. Certain “dimensions” of the landscape are presented in this publication, which addresses key issues for its future, including democracy, education, economy, leisure and advertising. Landscape management processes – and even the term “landscape” itself – are also analysed. This book forms part of a process of reflection on the major themes concerning the living environment.
Book Synopsis The Carousel of Time by : Bernard Ancori
Download or read book The Carousel of Time written by Bernard Ancori and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2019-12-06 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based around the image of a carousel, this book uses epistemological theory to tackle the paradoxical acceleration and deceleration of time that is experienced by many. The consequence of this paradox is the observance of the past, present and future coinciding, where acceleration is combined with perfect immobility. The Carousel of Time proposes a model that focuses on a complex network of individual actors, and their relation to the analysis, structure and evolution of our socio-cognitive space–time. The first part of the book, "Foundations", presents the key bases of this model, as well as the notions that must be understood and integrated. The book then analyzes the concept of "Space", defining the parameters of the network’s boundaries, and finishes with an exploration of "Time". This third part links the temporality of the network to its spatial characteristics and studies its evolution.

This book was released on 2012-06-01 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Perceptions and Analysis of Digital Risks by : Camille Capelle
Download or read book Perceptions and Analysis of Digital Risks written by Camille Capelle and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2021-12-16 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The concept of digital risk, which has become ubiquitous in the media, sustains a number of myths and beliefs about the digital world. This book explores the opposite view of these ideologies by focusing on digital risks as perceived by actors in their respective contexts. Perceptions and Analysis of Digital Risks identifies the different types of risks that concern actors and actually impact their daily lives, within education or various socio-professional environments. It provides an analysis of the strategies used by the latter to deal with these risks as they conduct their activities; thus making it possible to characterize the digital cultures and, more broadly, the informational cultures at work. This book offers many avenues for action in terms of educating the younger generations, training teachers and leaders, and mediating risks.
Book Synopsis The Meaning of Otherness in Education by : Muriel Briançon
Download or read book The Meaning of Otherness in Education written by Muriel Briançon and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2019-07-09 with total page 326 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The notion of otherness, often misused, requires important conceptualization work in order for it to be considered in all of its forms, and not simply reduced to the account of others. Although otherness certainly questions the link to the other (relation), it also questions the link to the self (reflexivity) and the link to knowledge (epistemology). Being tridimensional, the process of otherness is a paradox, the meaning of which can only be drawn thanks to ethics, psychoanalytical orientation and the history of philosophical ideas. This book, which relates to philosophy of education, seeks to explain the problematic notion of otherness, the desire for which is specific to humankind. It examines how otherness questions the limits of knowledge, transmission and language, and argues that it is in fact a value, a tool and practice for all the actors involved in the relationship between education, knowledge and care.
Book Synopsis India Migration Report 2013 by : S. Irudaya Rajan
Download or read book India Migration Report 2013 written by S. Irudaya Rajan and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2022-01-26 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is an empirical assessment of an often-neglected space in migration research — social, psychological and human costs for both migrants and the families they leave behind — based on qualitative and quantitative research findings. Globally, the focus of migration research has consisted of the intersections of migration and remittances. This overemphasis on remittances obscures the contributions and sacrifices made by migrants and their families. With this backdrop in view, India Migration Report 2013 documents issues such as: • Children’s negotiation of parental migration • Coping mechanisms adopted by women left behind • Utilization of social networks by the elderly during a health crisis • Demographic implications of migration • Household management and child care by spouses of migrant nurses • Lifestyle management by the elderly, who migrate with their children, in the absence of other traditional and familiar kinship structures • Transition costs involved in peasant migration • Social costs of migration in the case of emigration to the Gulf region • Broader impacts of migration on the family In addition, the book also includes articles dealing with nurses’ migration, skilled mobility, informalization of labour markets, mobility of women workers, global financial crisis and return migration, remittances management and a critical assessment of bilateral mobility agreements among nations to protect Indian workers. It will be of interest to those in migration studies, sociology, law, economics, gender studies, diaspora studies, international relations and demography, apart from non-governmental organizations, policy-makers and governmental institutions working in the field of migration.

Book Synopsis Critical Psychoanalytic Social Work by : Sebastien Ponnou
Download or read book Critical Psychoanalytic Social Work written by Sebastien Ponnou and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2022-11-17 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This international and interdisciplinary collection argues for the use of clinical-based practices and research in social work, bringing together critical psychoanalytic ideas into social work practice to help tackle contemporary issues. With a Foreword written by Stephen Webb, this book brings together specialists from the main areas of research and clinical practices in social work, ranging from psychoanalysis, sociology, clinical psychology, ethnopsychiatry and philosophy. Arguing for a movement away from evidence-based practice, chapters discuss the need for psychoanalytic thought in contemporary social work knowledge, how this can be integrated in social work practice and training, the challenges faced by training and practicing social workers and the ethical issues relating to clinical-based practice. Filled with case studies throughout, these diverse and rich contributions will make social workers think deeply about advocacy, ethics and the systemic changes needed in the field. This book will be invaluable reading to training and practicing clinical social workers and mental health professionals interested in social intervention. It will also be interesting to psychoanalysts as well as those studying sociology, clinical psychology and philosophy.
Book Synopsis A Comparative History of Literatures in the Iberian Peninsula by : Fernando Cabo Aseguinolaza
Download or read book A Comparative History of Literatures in the Iberian Peninsula written by Fernando Cabo Aseguinolaza and published by John Benjamins Publishing. This book was released on 2010-05-26 with total page 766 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Comparative History of Literatures in the Iberian Peninsula is the second comparative history of a new subseries with a regional focus, published by the Coordinating Committee of the International Comparative Literature Association. As its predecessor for East-Central Europe, this two-volume history distances itself from traditional histories built around periods and movements, and explores, from a comparative viewpoint, a space considered to be a powerful symbol of inter-literary relations. Both the geographical pertinence and its symbolic condition are obviously discussed, when not even contested. Written by an international team of researchers who are specialists in the field, this history is the first attempt at applying a comparative approach to the plurilingual and multicultural literatures in the Iberian Peninsula. The aim of comprehensiveness is abandoned in favor of a diverse and extensive array of key issues for a comparative agenda. A Comparative History of Literatures in the Iberian Peninsula undermines the primacy claimed for national and linguistic boundaries, and provides a geo-cultural account of literary inter-systems which cannot otherwise be explained.
Book Synopsis Key Ideas for a Contemporary Psychoanalysis by : Andre Green
Download or read book Key Ideas for a Contemporary Psychoanalysis written by Andre Green and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2012-10-02 with total page 342 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: André Green attempts the complex task of identifying and examining the key ideas for a contemporary psychoanalytic practice. This undertaking is motivated both by the need for an outline of the evolution of psychoanalysis since Freud's death, and by the hope of tackling the fragmentation which has led to the current 'crisis of psychoanalysis'. In three sections covering the theoretical and practical aspects of psychoanalysis, and analysing the current state of the field, André Green provides a stimulating overview of the principal concepts that have guided his work. Subjects covered include: Transference and countertransference Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy: modalities and results Language-speech-discourse in psychoanalysis Recognition of the unconscious This unique contemporary perspective on the psychoanalytic enterprise will fascinate all those with an interest in the problems that face the field and the opportunities for its future development.
