Book Synopsis Introduction à la géométrie hyperbolique et aux surfaces de Riemann by : Ricardo Sá Earp

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book excerpt: This monograph offers a self-contained introduction to pseudodifferential operators and wavelets over real and p-adic fields. Aimed at graduate students and researchers interested in harmonic analysis over local fields, the topics covered in this book include pseudodifferential operators of principal type and of variable order, semilinear degenerate pseudodifferential boundary value problems (BVPs), non-classical pseudodifferential BVPs, wavelets and Hardy spaces, wavelet integral operators, and wavelet solutions to Cauchy problems over the real field and the p-adic field.
Book Synopsis An Advanced Complex Analysis Problem Book by : Daniel Alpay
Download or read book An Advanced Complex Analysis Problem Book written by Daniel Alpay and published by Birkhäuser. This book was released on 2015-11-13 with total page 523 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is an exercises book at the beginning graduate level, whose aim is to illustrate some of the connections between functional analysis and the theory of functions of one variable. A key role is played by the notions of positive definite kernel and of reproducing kernel Hilbert space. A number of facts from functional analysis and topological vector spaces are surveyed. Then, various Hilbert spaces of analytic functions are studied.

This book was released on 2007-07-18 with total page 806 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ten years after a 1989 meeting of number theorists and physicists at the Centre de Physique des Houches, a second event focused on the broader interface of number theory, geometry, and physics. This book is the first of two volumes resulting from that meeting. Broken into three parts, it covers Conformal Field Theories, Discrete Groups, and Renormalization, offering extended versions of the lecture courses and shorter texts on special topics.

Book Synopsis The Spectrum of Hyperbolic Surfaces by : Nicolas Bergeron
Download or read book The Spectrum of Hyperbolic Surfaces written by Nicolas Bergeron and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-02-19 with total page 375 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This text is an introduction to the spectral theory of the Laplacian on compact or finite area hyperbolic surfaces. For some of these surfaces, called “arithmetic hyperbolic surfaces”, the eigenfunctions are of arithmetic nature, and one may use analytic tools as well as powerful methods in number theory to study them. After an introduction to the hyperbolic geometry of surfaces, with a special emphasis on those of arithmetic type, and then an introduction to spectral analytic methods on the Laplace operator on these surfaces, the author develops the analogy between geometry (closed geodesics) and arithmetic (prime numbers) in proving the Selberg trace formula. Along with important number theoretic applications, the author exhibits applications of these tools to the spectral statistics of the Laplacian and the quantum unique ergodicity property. The latter refers to the arithmetic quantum unique ergodicity theorem, recently proved by Elon Lindenstrauss. The fruit of several graduate level courses at Orsay and Jussieu, The Spectrum of Hyperbolic Surfaces allows the reader to review an array of classical results and then to be led towards very active areas in modern mathematics.

Book Synopsis Geometry and Dynamics in Gromov Hyperbolic Metric Spaces by : Tushar Das
Download or read book Geometry and Dynamics in Gromov Hyperbolic Metric Spaces written by Tushar Das and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2017-04-14 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the foundations of the theory of groups and semigroups acting isometrically on Gromov hyperbolic metric spaces. Particular emphasis is paid to the geometry of their limit sets and on behavior not found in the proper setting. The authors provide a number of examples of groups which exhibit a wide range of phenomena not to be found in the finite-dimensional theory. The book contains both introductory material to help beginners as well as new research results, and closes with a list of attractive unsolved problems.

Book Synopsis Isometric Embedding of Riemannian Manifolds in Euclidean Spaces by : Qing Han
Download or read book Isometric Embedding of Riemannian Manifolds in Euclidean Spaces written by Qing Han and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2006 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The question of the existence of isometric embeddings of Riemannian manifolds in Euclidean space is already more than a century old. This book presents, in a systematic way, results both local and global and in arbitrary dimension but with a focus on the isometric embedding of surfaces in ${\mathbb R}^3$. The emphasis is on those PDE techniques which are essential to the most important results of the last century. The classic results in this book include the Janet-Cartan Theorem, Nirenberg's solution of the Weyl problem, and Nash's Embedding Theorem, with a simplified proof by Gunther. The book also includes the main results from the past twenty years, both local and global, on the isometric embedding of surfaces in Euclidean 3-space. The work will be indispensable to researchers in the area. Moreover, the authors integrate the results and techniques into a unified whole, providing a good entry point into the area for advanced graduate students or anyone interested in this subject. The authors avoid what is technically complicated. Background knowledge is kept to an essential minimum: a one-semester course in differential geometry and a one-year course in partial differential equations.
